Hybrid Search for Vehicle Routing Problem With Time Windows (시간제약이 있는 차량경로문제에 대한 Hybrid 탐색)

  • Vehicle routing problem with time windows is determined each vehicle route in order to minimize the transportation costs. All delivery points in geography have various time restriction in camparision with the basic vehicle routing problem. Vechicle routing problem with time windows is known to be NP-hard, and it needs a lot of computing time to get the optimal solution, so that heuristics are more frequently developed than optimal algorithms. This study aims to develop a heuristic method which combines guided local search with a tabu search in order to minimize the transportation costs for the vehicle routing assignment and uses ILOG programming library to solve. The computational tests were performed using the benchmark problems.

  • In Part II, the paper will describe a three-phase alumina-based nanoceramic composite demonstrating superplasticity at a surprisingly lower temperature and higher strain rate. One important factor in the processing of these nanocomposites was the use of the electrical field assisted sintering method, SPS. These improvements in mechanical properties were briefly discussed in the context of the results from the microstructural investigations. SPS forming approach provides a new route for low temperature and high-strain-rate superplasticity for nanostructured materials and should impact and interest a broad range of scientists in materials research and superplastic forming technology.

  • The need of progress in engineering designs especially for aerospace structure is nowadays becoming a major industry request. The objectives of this work are to quantify the influence of material and operational uncertainties on the performance of the aerodynamic behavior of an Aircraft Wing, and to give a description of the most commonly used methods for reliability based design optimization (RBDO) to point out the advantages of the application of this method in the design process. A new method is proposed, called Safest Point (SP) that can efficiently give the reliability-based optimum solution for freely vibrating structures with and without fluid flow.

  • The prediction of a design-flood hydrograph at a particular site on a river may be based on the derivation of discharge or stage hydrograph at an upstream section, togeater with a method to route this hydrograph along the rest of river. On the other hand, flood routing methods provide a useful tool for the analysis of flooding in all but the smaller catchment, and these methods are largely stored into hydrological method and hydraulic method. Although the Muskingum Method as a hydrological method ignores dynamic effects on the flood wave, Muskingum-Cunge Method based on hydraulic method is possible to improve the method so that it gives a good approximation to the solution of the linear convective-diffusion equation. This is made on the basis of the finite diffeience equation for the Muskingum Method. In the study, the outflows predicted by Muskingum-Cunge Method are campared with the observed outflows of the Pyung Chang River.

Field Emission from Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Aligned on a Gold Plate using Self-Assembly Monolayer

  • Field emission from single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) aligned on a patterned gold surface is reported. The SWNTs emitters were prepared at room temperature by a self-assembly monolayer technique. SWNTs were cut into sub-micron length by sonication in an acidic solution. Cut SWNTs were attached on the gold surface by the reaction between the thiol groups and the gold surface. The field emission measurement showed that the turn-on field was 4.8 $V/{\mu}m$ at the emission current density of 10 ${\mu}A/cm^2$. The current density was 0.5 $mA/cm^2$ at 6.6 $V/{\mu}m$. This approach provides a novel route for fabricating CNT-based field emission displays.

  • The formation mechanism and photocatalytic properties of a multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/$TiO_2$-based nanotube (TNTs) composite are investigated. The CNT/TNT composite is synthesized via a solution chemical route. It is confirmed that this 1-D nanotube composite has a core-shell nanotubular structure, where the TNT surrounds the CNT core. The photocatalytic activity investigated based on the methylene blue degradation test is superior to that of with pure TNT. The CNTs play two important roles in enhancing the photocatalytic activity. One is to act as a template to form the core-shell structure while titanate nanosheets are converted into nanotubes. The other is to act as an electron reservoir that facilitates charge separation and electron transfer from the TNT, thus decreasing the electron-hole recombination efficiency.

Studies on Pore Characteristics of Microporous Carbons Prepared with Different Types of Silica Templates

  • Microporous carbons with narrow pore size distribution have been successfully synthesized by using hydrolyzed and calcined silica as templates and phenol formaldehyde (pf) resin as carbon precursor. Phenol formaldehyde-silica micro composites were prepared by solution route. Subsesequently, silica templates were removed by HF leaching. Resulting carbons were steam activated. The porous carbons were characterized by nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm, SEM, FTIR analysis, iodine adsorption, thermogravimetry analysis, etc. Adsorption isotherms show that the porous carbon prepared from calcined silica as templates are microporous with 88% pores of size <2 nm porosity and are of type I isotherm, while porous carbon prepared by using hydrolyzed silica are microporous with 89% microporosity, shows hysteresis loop at high relative pressure indicating the presence of some mesoporosity in samples. The microporosity in porous carbon materials has a bearing on the nature of silica templates used for pore formation.

Properties and Hair-growth Effect of Chrysin 7-O-crotonate (크라이신 7-O-크로토네이트의 물성 및 육모효과)

  • Chrysin 7-Ο-crotonate was synthesized by condensing crotonic acid with chrysin in organic solvent, tetrahydrofuran (THF) using dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) and 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP). Its structure was indentified by NMR, MS, UV, IR etc. We also investigated the physico-chemical properties and set up the quantitative anytical method of this compound. The correlation coefficient of calibration curve measured at the isobestic point (340 nm) on this compound was approximately 0.9994 by absorption spetrophtometry. Detection limit was 1.6ng at S/N=3 by using a RP column by HPLC. The hair growth effect fo chrysin 7-Ο-crotonate on the hair of black mouse (C57BL/6), was carried out using paste method. When its ethanol solution was administered to this black mouse by route of skin, this compound promoted the growth of hair.

  • In this paper, a mathematical model is developed for economic design of multi-stage distribution system that consists of factory, central distribution centers, local distribution centers and retailers. The retailers are supplied products from different stage suppliers according to order size. The retailers are supplied products from factory if demand amount is large, central distribution center if medium, local distribution center if small. The economic design is to determine the economic size of facility factors that consist of distribution system. The cost factors are transportation cost from supply places to demand places, handling cost at distribution centers and inventory holding cost at retailers. It is to determine the transportation route of each retailer, the size and number of the vehicle at factory and distribution centers, the handling amount at distribution centers in order to minimize the total costs. The mathematical model is represented, the solution procedure is developed, and a numerical example is shown.

  • Recently, automobile industry expands from mechatronics area through intelligent information area, and the telematics technology is one of the greatest developing points. The telematics is utilizing the on-board-unit of vehicle's communication system, and it provides necessary information and value-added service to vehicles as well as drivers. Most of the telematics offers the solution of searching a route or generates an optimal path. This paper investigates telematics with the logistics point of view, such as freight location tracking, vehicle emergency information, etc. The telematics is a core technology of automobile industry, and it becomes new business paradigm of IP(information provider). Especially, ETA(estimated arrival time) of freight and distribution tracing information are critical issues in the logistics industry. The successful integration with telematics is introduced in the paper.
