Study on Water Resistance of Environmentally Friendly Magnesium Oxychloride Cement for Waste Wood Solidification

  • In this study, different formulations of magnesium oxide and various modifiers (phosphoric acid, ferrous sulfate, pure acrylic emulsion, silicone acrylic emulsion, glass fiber, and polypropylene fiber) were used to prepare magnesium oxychloride cement composites. The compressive strength of the magnesium oxychloride cement was tested, and the softening coefficients of the composites after soaking in water were also calculated. The results showed that a magnesium oxychloride cement sample could not be coagulated when the MgO activity was 24.3%, but the coagulation effect of the magnesium oxide cement sample was excellent when the MgO activity was 69.5%. While pure acrylic emulsion, silicon-acrylic emulsion, and glass fiber showed insignificant modification effects on the magnesium oxychloride cement, ferrous sulfate heptahydrate, phosphoric acid, and polypropylene fiber could effectively improve its water resistance and compressive strength. When the phosphoric acid, ferrous sulfate heptahydrate, and polypropylene fiber contents were 0.47%, 0.73%, and 0.25%, respectively, the softening coefficient of a composite soaked in water reached 0.93 after 7 days, and the compressive strength reached 64.3 MPa.

  • The investigation is to modify the mechanical and chemical properties of Mg alloys using a combination of rapid solidification and surface treatment. As the first approach, $Mg_{95}Zn_{4.3}Y_{0.7}$ was gas atomized and pressure sintered by spark plasma sintering process (SPS), showing much finer microstructure and higher strength than the alloys as cast. Further modification was performed by treating the surface of PM Mg specimen using Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) process. During the PEO processing, MgO layer was initiated to form on the surface of Mg powder compacts, and the thickness and the density of MgO layer were varied with the reaction time. The thickening rate became low with the reaction time due to the limited diffusion rate of Mg ions. The surface morphology, corrosion behavior and wear resistance were also discussed.

  • 이방성 자기저항효과(anisotropic magnetoresistance : AMR)는 단층 자성박막으로 구성되므로 경제성 있게 박막화 시켜서 소형화가 가능하다. 기존의 급속응고법으로 생산된 리본형 MCo(M=Cu, Ag) 소자가 경제적으로 공업적 목적을 달성하였으나, 리본형 특유의 두께와 가공성이 부족하여 소형 소자에 함께 집적하기 곤란한 단점이 있었다. 새로운 박막형을 쓰면 추가 열처리 없이 기존의 리본형 소자와 비교하여 박막상태로 적절한 AMR 특성이 나오는지와 최적 AMR을 얻기 위한 Co의 조성을 아는 것이 중요하다. 열증착기를 써서 100nm의 $Cu_{1-x}Co_x$$Ag_{1-x}$ 박막을 Co의 조성을 $10{\sim}70wt%$로 달리하며 제작하여 이때의 자기적 특성을 확인하였다. CuCo는 40% Co에 0.5T에서 1.4%, AgCo는 30% Co에 2.6%의 MR비를 얻었고 이는 리본형 소자보다는 표면 산란 효과에 의해 MR비는 작지만 표면산화막 없이 직접 다른 소자공정과 함께 진행할 수 있는 장점이 있음을 확인하였다.

발포알루미늄의 제조공정 및 흡음특성 (Acoustic Abosrption Characteristic and Fabrication process of Foamed Aluminum)

  • Porous structures of aluminum foam have been studied. The apparent foam shape, foam hight, density, pore size, shape, and their distributions in various section areas of the experimental samples have been investigated. The sample have been cast into metallic mold, using aluminum foam prepared from a precursor based on pure Al ingot mixed with various amount of 1-2wt% increasing viscosity and foam agent materials. The process provides for flexibility in design of foam structures via relatively easy control over the amount of hydrogen evolution and the drainage processes which occur during foam formation. This is facilitated by manupulating parameters such as the foaming agent, thermal histories during solidification and mix melt viscosities. The acoustical performance of the panel made with the foamed aluminum is considerably improved; its absorption coefficient shows NRC 0.6-0.8. It has been found that the Al foam is very preferable for the compactness of the thermal system.

열간압출을 이용한 고신뢰성 n형 Bi-Te-Se계 열전소자 제조 (Preparation of n-type Bi-Te-Se-based Thermoelectric Materials with Improved Reliability via hot Extrusion Process)

  • 높은 신뢰성의 n형 Bi-Te-Se계 열전소자 제조를 위한 열간압출 공정을 확립하였다. 용융-응고 공정을 이용하여 Bi-Te-Se 원료잉곳을 합성하였으며, 고에너지 볼밀을 이용하여 평균 ${\sim}30{\mu}m$ 크기의 분말로 분쇄하였다. 일축가압 공정으로 분말을 직경 20 mm의 디스크 형태로 성형한 후 압출용 몰드 설계-제작 및 열간압출 공정 온도와 압력을 제어하여 성형체로부터 00l 방향으로 결정 배향된 지름 1.8 mm의 원통형 고밀도 압출체를 제조하였다. 상온에서 최대 ${\sim}4.1mW/mK^2$의 높은 파워팩터를 나타냈으며, zone melting 공정으로 제조한 상용 열전소재와 비교하여 2배 이상 향상된 기계적 강도 (~50 MPa)를 구현하였다.

SEINA: A two-dimensional steam explosion integrated analysis code

  • In the event of a severe accident, the reactor core may melt due to insufficient cooling. the high-temperature core melt will have a strong interaction (FCI) with the coolant, which may lead to steam explosion. Steam explosion would pose a serious threat to the safety of the reactors. Therefore, the study of steam explosion is of great significance to the assessment of severe accidents in nuclear reactors. This research focuses on the development of a two-dimensional steam explosion integrated analysis code called SEINA. Based on the semi-implicit Euler scheme, the three-phase field was considered in this code. Besides, the influence of evaporation drag of melt and the influence of solidified shell during the process of melt droplet fragmentation were also considered. The code was simulated and validated by FARO L-14 and KROTOS KS-2 experiments. The calculation results of SEINA code are in good agreement with the experimental results, and the results show that if the effects of evaporation drag and melt solidification shell are considered, the FCI process can be described more accurately. Therefore, it is proved that SEINA has the potential to be a powerful and effective tool for the analysis of steam explosions in nuclear reactors.

주조공정에서의 효율적인 열응력 해석을 위한 이종해석기법의 연계 (Combination of Different Numerical Methods for Efficient Thermal Stress Analysis of Casting Process)

  • 본 논문에서 유한차분법(FDM)과 유한요소법(FEM)을 연계하여 주조공정 해석을 수행하는 이종해석기법을 제안하였다. 수치해석기법으로는 FDM, FEM, BEM 등 다양한 기법이 있으며, 대부분의 공학문제는 각각의 현상에 적합한 수치해석기법을 사용하여 해석을 수행하고 있다. 일반적으로, FDM 또는 FVM 은 유동 및 열전달 해석에, FEM 은 열응력 해석에 많이 적용되고 있지만 복합적인 공학 문제를 해결하기 위해서 각각 수치해석기법을 연동한 해석의 필요성이 점점 증가하고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 3 차원 공간에서 FDM 을 사용하여 응고 및 열 전달 해석을 수행하고, 계산된 온도 데이터를 FEM 해석장에 적합하게 변환하여 열응력 해석을 수행하는 FDM/FEM연계해석 방법을 제시하였다. 그리고 제시한 해석방법을 주조 공정 해석에 적용한 결과, 요소생성 등의 해석작업과 해석속도 면에서 효율적으로 해석을 수행할 수 있었다.

주조/단조 기술을 이용한 대형 알루미늄 플랜지 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Large Aluminum Flange Using Casting/Forging Process)

  • The significance of the casting/forging process for reducing the production cost of large components is being noted in these days. This casting/forging process is a method of forging a workpiece preformed by casting into the final shape. In this study, the casting/forging process has been applied in manufacturing a large aluminum flange in order to reduce press capacity and material cost. Firstly, a hot compression test was performed with cast cylindrical billets in order to determine the optimum forging condition of the aluminum flange. The optimum range of forging temperature of Al 5083 was from 420$\^{C}$ to 450$\^{C}$. The suitable strain rate was 1.5 sec(sup)-1. The deformation amount of a preform of a preform in a forging process is a key role in the mechanical properties of casting/forging products. In order to find the change of mechanical properties according to effective stain of cast aluminum billets, a hot upsetting test were performed with rectangular blocks and then a uniaxial tensile test was performed with specimens cut from the upsetted billets. The tensile strength and the elongation of cast/upsetted aluminum billets were increased largely until the effective strain was 0.7. FE analysis was performed to determine the configurations of case preform and die for an aluminum flange. In the FE analysis, the forging load-limit was fixed 1500ton for low equipment cost. The cast preform was designed so that the effective stain around the neck of a flange exceeded 0.7. From the result of FE analysis, optimal configurations of the cast preform and the die were designed for a large flange. The filling and solidification analysis for a sound cast-preform was carried out with MAGMA soft. In the forging experiment for an aluminum flange, it was confirmed that the optimal configuration of the cast preform predicted by FE analysis was very useful. The cast/forged products using designed preform were made perfectly without any defects.

하이브리드 습식 공정을 통한 PVDF 섬유의 제조 및 특성에 관한 연구 (Characterization of the PVDF Fibers Fabricated by Hybrid Wet Spinning)

  • Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)는 압전성을 나타내는 대표적인 고분자로 1960년대부터 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. PVDF는 반결정의 고분자로써 5가지의 결정 구조(${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\gamma}$, ${\delta}$, 그리고 ${\varepsilon}$형)로 구성되어 있다. ${\alpha}$형과 ${\delta}$형 결정은 전기적으로 반응하지 않는 무극성 결정구조이나 ${\beta}$형, ${\gamma}$형 그리고 ${\varepsilon}$형은 전기적으로 반응하는 극성 결정구조이다. 그 중에서도 ${\beta}$형 결정구조는 트랜스 형 분자 쇄가 평행으로 충진 된 형태로서 PVDF 단위체가 갖는 영구 쌍극자가 모두 한 방향으로 배열되어 있는 구조이기 때문에 자발 분극이 커지게 되고 압전성을 나타내게 된다. 일반적으로 ${\beta}$형 결정구조는 연신을 통한 ${\alpha}$형 결정구조의 변환을 통하여 얻을 수 있고, 연신 후 후처리 공정을 통해 그 양을 증가시킬 수 있다. 습식방사로 제조된 PVDF 섬유는 응고욕에서 극성 용매의 확산 메커니즘에 의해 ${\beta}$형 결정구조가 형성되는 장점을 가지고 있지만 극성 용매가 빠져나감과 동시에 섬유 고화가 진행되기 때문에 용매의 확산 경로가 섬유 내부 기공으로 남게 되는 단점을 가지고 있다. 이 기공은 폴링(Poling) 공정에서 전기장에 의한 분극을 방해하여 그 효과를 감소시키는 역할을 한다. 또한, PVDF 섬유가 압전 특성을 필요로 하는 응용분야에 사용되기 위해서는 섬유 가공 후에 전극이 반드시 부착되어야 하는데 섬유 형태로 제조된 PVDF에 전극을 형성하기는 매우 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 압전성을 갖는 PVDF 섬유를 습식 방사와 건식 방사의 혼합 공정으로 제조하여 기공 문제를 해결하였고, 전극이 섬유 내부에 삽입된 Core/Shell 형태의 PVDF 섬유를 제조하여 까다로운 전극형성 문제를 해결하였다.

Icosahedral 상을 갖는 Mg-8Zn-1.6Y 합금의 크리프 거동에 미치는 Ca 첨가 영향 (The Effect of Ca Addition on Creep Behavior of As-cast Mg-8.0Zn-1.6Y Alloys with Icosahedral Phase)

  • The high-temperature stability of Mg-8.0Zn-1.6Y (wt.%) alloys upon the addition of Ca has been investigated by characterizing the ignition temperature, microstructure, tensile and creep properties. The ignition temperature increases with an increase in the Ca content, indicating that an addition of Ca enhances the ignition resistance of the Mg-Zn-Y alloy. The as-cast microstructures of all tested alloys mainly consisted of the dendritic α-Mg matrix and I-phase (Mg3Zn6Y) at the grain boundaries. In the Ca-added Mg-8.0Zn-1.6Y alloys, the Ca2Mg6Zn3 phase forms, with this phase fraction increasing with an increase in the Ca contents. However, a high volume fraction of the Ca2Mg6Zn3 phase rather deteriorates the mechanical properties. Therefore, a moderate amount of Ca element in Mg-8.0Zn-1.6Y alloys is effective for improving the tensile and creep properties of the Mg-Zn-Y alloy. The Mg-8.0Zn-1.6Y-0.3Ca alloy exhibits the highest tensile strength and the lowest creep strain among the alloys investigated in the present study. The creep resistance of Mg-Zn-Y-Ca alloys depends on the selection of the secondary solidification phase; i.e., when Ca2Mg6Zn3 forms in an alloy containing a high level of Ca, the creep resistance deteriorates because Ca2Mg6Zn3 is less stable than the I-phase at a high temperature.
