Hollow fiber membranes were prepared via thermally-induced phase separation process followed by stretching process from isotactic polypropylene and soybean oil system. Various operating parameters were examined in terms of their effects on the structure variation and performances of the membrane, and were optimized. Melt viscosity of the melt sample had influence on the formation of the microfibrils, and addition of nucleating agent increased the nucleation density to enhance the interspherulitic pore formation by stretching. Annealing the membrane at its stretched state relaxed the stress induced by stretching and helped the membrane maintain the stretched structure without shrinking. Solid-liquid Phase separation is more prevalent when the nucleating agent was added, and coagulation bath temperature determined the nucleation density, which affected the pore formation by stretching. In the absence of nucleating agent, nucleation was not effective and liquid-liquid phase separation governed the structure formation, which showed the opposite trend to that of the case with nucleating agent.
In a continuation of the 1st series of these studies, a separation of the components in organic phases obtained from Szilard Chalmer reactions of aromatic chloro derivatives was attempted to clarify the conditions of isolating the main component. Though it was unable to isolate all constituents of organic phases, the main component was well isolated by means of a simple distillation or a thin layer chromatography. It was identified that the main component was a recombined product of the recoiled $^{38}$ Cl atom with the original sample. In cases of solid samples the main component amounted about 80-60% of the radio activity of the organic phase, whereas the main component from liquid samples gave less than 70% of the radio activity of the organic phase. A prolonged irradiation could increase the yield of a main component, but it was, in case of a radiation senintive compound, decreased as the irradiation is extended. The number of aide produets separated from an organic phase of a liquid sample was greater than that of a solid sample, and hence the main component of a solid sample was isolated easier. The overall fields of the labelled main products of 22 kinds of compounds were listed and a procedure of the separation of the main component by a thin layer chromatograply was proposed and evaluated. The feasibility of the present procedure for labelling purpose was also reviewed with respects to the chemical structure of a compound.

Filtration, one of the most important process in the various industrials, is defined as the separation of two or more compounds from a fluid by passing the mixture refers to the separation of solid, immisible particles from liquid or gaseous mixture. Membrane filtration which is a type of filtration extends it's application further to include the separation, concentration, and filtration. The main objective of this investigation is the preparation of organic solvents-resistant polyimide membranes by using phase inversion technique and their application as a UF membrane. Specially, the dope solution was prepared from the newly developed method. The newly developed method is that the dope solution was directly prepared from the polyimide solution which was prepared by the modified one-step polymerization. The effects of the parameters for membrane preparation such as the casting solution composition and the casting conditions were investigated and the performance and chemical stabfiity of membrane are going to be tested.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of novel process with thermal hydrolysis and separation as pre-treatment of anaerobic digestion (AD). The dewatered sludge was pre-treated using THP, and then separated. The separated liquid used as substrate for AD and separated solid was returned on THP(Thermal Hydrolysis Process). The degree of disintegration (DD, based on COD) using only THP found 45.1-49.3%. The DD using THP+separation found 76.1-77.6%, which was higher than only THP. As result from dual-pool two-step model, the ratio of rapidly degradable substrate to total degradable substrate found 0.891-0.911 in separated liquid, which was higher than only THP. However, the rapidly degradable substrate reaction constant (kF) of only THP and THP+separation were similar. This results found that dewatered sludge was disintegrated by THP, and then rapidly degradable substrate of hydrolyzed sludge was sorted by separation.

Air flotation is a solid-liquid separation process that utilizes up-flow microbubbles to thicken activated sludge and enhance clarification efficiency. Continuous air flotation experiments were performed to investigate the effect of operation parameters such as initial MLSS (mixed liquor suspended solid) concentration, air pressure, surface loading rate, air to solid (A/S) ratio, and flotation time on thickening efficiency. An initial activated sludge concentration ranged from 3,000 to 12,000mgSS/L and thickened sludge concentration varied from 6,400 to 28,100mgSS/L. The result showed that the thickening efficiency was mainly dependent on surface loading rate, A/S ratio, and flotation time. The pressure did not affect the thickening efficiency when it kept in the range of 1.6 to 1.8 bar. Experimental results showed that the thickening efficiency of activated sludge was increased only when the feed sludge concentration exceeded 5,000mgSS/L and the thickened concentration was over 20,000mgSS/L. At this time, SS concentration in the clarified liquid was ranged from 5 to 10mg/L.
The field of synthetic biology has emerged in response to the ongoing progress in the life sciences. Advances have been made in medicine, farming, eating, making materials, and more. Synthetic biology is the exploration of using living organisms to create new organisms. By manipulating specific genes to express targeted proteins, proteins can be created that are both productive and cost-effective. Solid-phase extraction (SPE) and liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) are employed for protein separation during the production process involving microorganisms. This study centers on Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) to showcase its utility in the food industry and food management. SPE is predominantly utilized as a pretreatment method to eliminate impurities from samples. In comparison to LLE, this method presents benefits such as decreased time and labor requirements, streamlined solvent extraction, automation capabilities, and compatibility with various other analytical instruments. Anion exchange chromatography (AEC) utilizes a similar methodology. Pharmaceutical companies utilize these technologies to improve the purity of biopharmaceuticals, thereby guaranteeing their quality. Used in the food and beverage industry to test chemical properties of raw materials and finished products. This exemplifies the potential of these technologies to enhance industrial development and broaden the scope of applications in synthetic biology.
The extraction method and quantitative analysis for the fat-soluble vitamins present in food stuffs and vitamin products have been investigated. The simultaneous separation and analysis of the vitamins by reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method was conducted using an isocratic elution with methanol : water (95 : 5) eluent on a Novapak $C_{18}$ column. The detection of vitamins was achieved by a variable wavelength UV detector. To improve the detection sensitivity detection wavelengths were set at the highest absorption bands such as 330, 265, 285, and 290nm for the respective vitamins. The analysis for the fat-soluble vitamins was finished within 40 minutes. Alkaline hydrolysis and enzymatic hydrolysis were investigated for the sample preparation; and liquid-liquid extraction and liquid-solid extraction were attempted for the extraction of vitamins. Both hydrolysis methods were turned out to be appropriate for the analysis for vitamins A, D, and E, while for the analysis of vitamin K the enzymatic hydrolysis method demonstrated better results. Diethyl ether, pentane, and n-hexane were found to give higher recovery for the liquid-liquid extraction and silica cartridge for the liquid-solid extraction.

As an example of research activities in decontamination for decommissioning, new data are presented on the options for corrosion layer dissolution during the decommissioning decontamination, or persulfate regeneration for decontamination solutions re-use. For the management of spent decontamination solutions, new method based on solvent extraction of radionuclides into ionic liquid followed by electrodeposition of the radionuclides has been developed. Fields of applications of composite inorganic-organic absorbers or solid extractants with polyacrylonitrile (PAN) binding matrix for the treatment of liquid radioactive waste are reviewed; a method for americium separation from the boric acid containing NPP evaporator concentrates based on the TODGA-PAN material is discussed in more detail. Performance of a model of radionuclide transport, developed and implemented within the GoldSim programming environment, for the safety studies of the LLW/ILW repository is demonstrated on the specific case of the Richard repository (Czech Republic). Continuation and even broadening of these activities are expected in connection with the approaching end of the lifespan of the first blocks of the Czech NPPs.
Background: The reports about valuable oligosaccharides in ginseng are quite limited. There is an urgent need to develop a practical procedure to detect and analyze ginseng oligosaccharides. Methods: The oligosaccharide extracts from ginseng were permethylated by solid-phase methylation method and then were analyzed by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-Q-Orbitrap/MS. The sequence, linkage, and configuration information of oligosaccharides were determined by using accurate m/z value and tandem mass information. Several standard references were used to further confirm the identification. The oligosaccharide composition in white ginseng and red ginseng was compared using a multivariate statistical analysis method. Results: The nonreducing oligosaccharide erlose among 12 oligosaccharides identified was reported for the first time in ginseng. In the comparison of the oligosaccharide extracts from white ginseng and red ginseng, a clear separation was observed in the partial least squares-discriminate analysis score plot, indicating the sugar differences in these two kinds of ginseng samples. The glycans with variable importance in the projection value large than 1.0 were considered to contribute most to the classification. The contents of oligosaccharides in red ginseng were lower than those in white ginseng, and the contents of maltose, maltotriose, maltotetraose, maltopentaose, maltohexaose, maltoheptaose, maltooctaose, maltononaose, sucrose, and erlose decreased significantly (p < 0.05) in red ginseng. Conclusion: A solid-phase methylation method combined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was successfully applied to analyze the oligosaccharides in ginseng extracts, which provides the possibility for holistic evaluation of ginseng oligosaccharides. The comparison of oligosaccharide composition of white ginseng and red ginseng could help understand the differences in pharmacological activities between these two kinds of ginseng samples from the perspective of glycans.
The acid stronger than $H_0=-11.93$, which corresponds to the acid strength of 100% $H_2SO_4$, is known as superacid. However, solid superacid catalysts have many advantages such as an easy separation of products from catalyst, the repeated uses and regeneration of catalysts, as compared with liquid superacids. In this paper, the kinds of solid superacids, the preparation methods, and their applications for chemical reactions are introduced.
