해양플랜트 탑사이드용 고압 볼밸브에 대한 구조 안전성 평가 (Strength Assessment of High-Pressure Ball Valve for Topside Process Unit)

  • A high-pressure ball valve was developed, and both the structural strength and sealing performance were assessed based on a nonlinear finite element analysis. Different parts were modeled with solid elements and assembled, taking into account both contact and sliding effects. Three different loading scenarios were analyzed, including a high-pressure closure test and fire and shell test conditions. The structural safety of each part was checked under each loading condition, and the sealing performance was also investigated to validate the performance of the valve.

  • Non-proportional loading tests of Nylon 66 at room temperature exhibit path dependent behavior and plasticity-relaxation interactions. The uniaxial formulation of the viscoplasticity theory based on overstress (VBO), which has been used to reproduce the nonlinear strain rate sensitivity, relaxation, significant recovery and cyclic softening behaviors of Nylon 66, is extended to three-dimensions to predict the response in strain-controlled, comer-path tests. VBO consists of a flow law that is easily written for either the stress or the strain as the independent variable. The flow law depends on the overstress, the difference between the stress and the equilibrium stress that is a state variable in VBO. The evolution law of the equilibrium stress in turn contains two additional state variables, the kinematic stress and the isotropic stress. The simulations show that the constitutive model is competent at modeling the deformation behavior of Nylon 66 and other solid polymers.

길들이기 과정을 고려한 변속기용 기어의 접촉피로 수명 해석 (The Contact Fatigue Life Analysis of Transmission Gear considering Running-in)

  • Surface pitting is a major failure mode for gears. The contact fatigue life analysis of transmission gear considering running-in process is presented in this paper. Surface roughness change of rolling test is used in a life analysis. Contact stresses are obtained by contact analysis of a semi-infinite solid based on the use of influence functions; the subsurface stress field is obtained using rectangular patch solutions. Mesoscopic multiaxial fatigue criterion which can yield satisfactory results for non-proportional loading is then applied to predict fatigue damage. Suitable counting method and damage rule were used to calculate the fatigue life of random loading caused by rough surface. The life analysis considering running-in is in good agreement with the experimental results.

  • 본 연구에서는 이러한 2유체방정식모델을 Stokes의 저항력 뿐만 아니라 벽면 의 영향을 함께 노고하여 벤츄리관에서의 정압강하가 공기류량과 고체유량, 그리고 입 자의 크기에 어떻게 의존하는가를 해석하였다. 본 연구의 수치해석결과를 Farbar와 Lee와 Crowe의 실험과 비교하였으며, 만족할 만한 일치를 얻었다.

  • Two different strength types of plain concrete plate specimens (200$\times$200$\times$60mm) were tested under different biaxial load combinations. The specimens were subjected to biaxial combinations covering the three regions of compression-compression, compression-tension, and tension-tension. The loading platens with Teflon pads were used to reduce a confining effect in boundary surface between the concrete specimen and the solid platen. The principal deformations in the specimens were recorded, and the failure modes along with each stress ratio were examined. Based on the strength data, the failure envelops were developed for each type of plain concrete. The biaxial stress-strain responses of concrete plate specimens for three biaxial loading regions were also plotted. The test data indicated that the strength of concrete under biaxial compression ($f_2 / f_1$$_1$=-1/-1) is about 17 percent larger than under uniaxial compression.

차량용 휠베어링의 접촉 피로수명 예측에 관한 연구 (Contact Fatigue Life Prediction of Automotive Wheel Bearing)

  • For most bearings, it is a common requirement to have long durability. Especially wheel bearing fatigue life is the most important in automotive quality. The contact fatigue life analysis of automotive wheel bearing considering real raceway rough surface is presented in this paper.   • This study deals with thermomechanical cracking between the friction surface and the interior of the brake disc. Analytical model considered in this study was a semi-infinite solid subjected to the thermal loading of an asperity moving with a high speed. The temperature field and the thermal stress state were obtained and discussed on the basis of Von Mises and Tresca Yielding Criterion. Analytical results showed that the dominant stress in cracking of friction brake is thermal stress and cracking location is dependent on the friction coefficient of contact and Peclet number. On the basis of analytical results thermomechanical cracking model is proposed.

  • A heating cargo is solidified by several reasons during carnage. This study is to analyse a cargo accident which 811, 202 US barrels of Nile Blend crude oil reamined solid in the tanks after discharge. There are some possibilities that low temperature of loading cargo below cloud point and wax appearance temperature at loading time, heating interruption during voyage or discharging, and prohibition of crude oil washing during discharging might influence the cargo solidified. But we concluded that the defect of heating system would most affect the heating cargo solidified locally, and which blocked drain hole of bottom transverse and web frame and they obstruct flow of heating cargo in the tanks.

캡슬에 고정화된 흡착제에의 Berberine의 흡착에 관한 수학적 모델 (Mathematical Model for Adsorption of Berberine on Encapsulated Adsorbent)

  • A mathematical model using local thermodynamic equilibrium isotherms for adsorption in encapsulated adsorbent is proposed in order to optimize the design parameters in situ bioproduct separation process. The model accurately follows the experimental data on the adsorption of berberine, secondary metabolite produced in Thaictrum rugosum plant cell culture. The adsorption rate on encapsulated adsorbent is compared with that on alginate-entrapped adsorbent. The result shows that the higher loading capacity in encapsulated adsorbent is mainly due to the increase in the maximum solid phase concentration. Based on the adsorption rate and loading capacity, the encapsulated adsorbent would be more useful than the entrapped adsorbent when used in situ bioproduct separation process. Design parameters in situ bioproduct separation process, such as the size of the capsule, membrane thickness, the ratio of capsule volume to bulk volume, the ratio of single capsule volume to total capsule volume and the adsorbent content in the capsule, are evaluated by using the model. The ratio of single capsule volume to total capsule volume is the most effective parameter for adsorption of berberine on encapsulated adsorbent.

Behavior of reinforced concrete segmental hollow core slabs under monotonic and repeated loadings

  • This study investigated experimentally the response of thick reinforced concrete specimens having hollow cores with critical parameters. The investigation includes testing of twelve specimens that are solid and hollow-core slab models. Each specimen consists of two pieces, the piece dimensions are (1.2 m) length, (0.3 m) width and (20 cm) thickness tested under both monotonic and repeated loading. The test program is carried out to study the effects of load type, core diameters, core shape, number of cores, and steel fiber existence. Load versus deflection at mid span, failure modes, and crack patterns were obtained during the test. The test results showed that core shape and core number has remarkable influenced on cracking pattern, ultimate load, and failure mode. Also, when considering repeated loading protocol, the ultimate load capacity, load at yielding, and ductility is reduced.
