The quasi-solid-state hybrid electrolytes were synthesized by chemical cross-linking reaction of methacrylate-functionalized $SiO_2$ ($MA-SiO_2$) and tetra (ethylene glycol) diacrylate in aqueous electrolyte. A quasi-solid-state electrolyte synthesized by 6 wt.% $MA-SiO_2$ exhibited a high ionic conductivity of $177mS\;cm^{-1}$ at room temperature. The electrochemical $H_2$ sensor assembled with quasi-solid-state electrolyte showed relatively fast response and high sensitivity for hydrogen gas at ambient temperature, and exhibited better durability and stability than the liquid electrolyte-based sensor. The simple construction of the sensor and its sensing characteristics make the quasi-solid-state hydrogen sensor promising for practical application.
$CO_2$ sensor was used only one solid electrolyte in many cases. To improve the sensing characteristics of $CO_2$ sensors, solid electrolyte $CO_2$ sensor has been developed by bi-electrolyte type sensor using Na-Beta-alumina and YSZ. However, in many further studies, bi-electrolyte type sensor was made by pellet pressed by press machine and additional treatment for formation of interface. In the aspect of mass production, using thick film and additional treatment is not suitable. In this study, $CO_2$ sensor was fabricated by bi-electrolyte structure which was made by an NBA paste layer deposited on YSZ pellet and fired at $1650^{\circ}C$ for 2 hour. The formation of stable interface between YSZ and NBA were confirmed by SEM image. When the type IV electrochemical cell arrangement represented by $CO_2,O_2,Pt{\mid}Li_2CO_3-CaCO_3{\parallel}NBA{\parallel}YSZ{\mid}O_2,Pt$ is used to measure the $CO_2$ concentration in air. This sensor EMF should depend only on the concentration of $CO_2$ by logarithmic. Also, sensor shows $P_{CO_2}$ and EMF relationship like nerstian reaction at a temperature of $450^{\circ}C$.
A solid-state electrochemicall cell for sensing CO2 gas was fabricated using a solid electrolyte of Li2CO3-Li3PO4-Al2O3 mixture and a reference electrode of LiMn2O4. The e.m.f. (electromotive force) of sensor showed a good accordance with theoretical Nernst slope (n=2) for CO2 gas concentration range of 100-10000 ppm above 35$0^{\circ}C$. The e.m.f. of sensor was constant regardless of oxygen partial pressure at the high temperature above 0.1 atm. It was, however, a little depended on oxygen partial pressure as the pressure decreased below 0.1 atm. The oxygen-dependency of our sensor gradually disappeared as the operating temperature increased. The sensing behavior of our CO2 sensor was affected by the presence of water vapor, but its effect was small comparing with other sensors.

Safety issues in Li-ion battery system have been prime concerns, as demands for power supply device applicable to wearable device, electrical vehicles and energy storage system have increased. To solve safety problems, promising strategy is to replace organic liquid electrolyte with non-flammable solid electrolyte, leading to the development of all-solid-state battery. However, relative low conductivity and high resistance from rigid solid-solid interface hinder a wide application of solid electrolyte. Composite electrolytes composed of organic and inorganic parts could be alternative solution, which in turn bring about the increase of conductivity and conformal contact at physically rough interfaces. In our study, composite electrolytes were prepared by combining poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO) and $Li_7La_3Zr_2O_{12}$ (LLZO). The crystallinity, morphology and electrochemical performances were investigated with the control of LLZO contents from 0 wt% to 50 wt%. From the results, it is concluded that optimum content and uniform dispersion of LLZO in polymer matrix are significant to improve overall conductivity of composite electrolyte.

In recent years, environments of our globe has been getting worse as a result of rapid growth of socioeconomic activities. The global environmental issues of acid rain, green house effect and ozone depletion are caused by various chemical pollutants, emitted from industries, automobiles and home. Most of these pollutants are produced by combustion processes. CO2 as a chief criminal of the greenhouse effect is a main combustion product of fossil fuels. Development of solid-state electrochemical devices for detecting CO2 is demonstrated based on various combination of solid electrolytes and auxiliary sensing materials. The object of this research is to develop various sensor performance for solid electrolyte gas sensor, and to test gas sensor performance manufactured. So we try to present a guidance for developing potential type gas sensor. We concentrated on development of manufacturing process and performance test.
Monolith aperture-type oxygen sensors with simple structure of YSZ(pin-hole)/Pt/ YSZ(solid electrolyte)/Pt were fabricated by co-firing technique. To enhance the yield of productivity, a couple of YSZ green sheets for diffused barrier and solid electrolyte were prepared by tape-casting and co-firing method. The limit current characteristics of the oxygen sensors were measured between 500 and $650^{\circ}C$ The heating temperature of $600^{\circ}C$ was optimum as a portable oxygen sensor in the range of oxygen concentration from 0 to 75 vol%. Linear proficiency of limit current behavior as a function of oxygen concentration was controlled by the variation of aperture dimension. The fabricated oxygen sensors showed the stable sensing output for 30 days. Gas leakage in bonding area due to warping, cracking and thermal cycling was not found in the period.

This study focuses on the development of the Electrochemical type $CO_2$ sensor Module by using solid electrolyte which was first developed in our country. The module applied the creative fundamentals that the voltage state generated from Electro-chemical reaction using new materials is converted into $CO_2$ ppm. The study verified the accurate of Electromotive Force(EMF) through the experiment using high-impedance opamp(INA332) to measure EMF which ranges from 100mV to 600mV to be outputted from $CO_2$ sensor, and the small electric current of some nano-ampere(nA)
A novel method for measuring hydrogen concentration is introduced, along with its working principle and a novel detection algorithm. This configuration requires no additional reference compartment for potentiometric electrochemical measurements; therefore, it is the most suitable for measuring dissolved hydrogen in the liquid phase. The sensor's electromotive force saturates at a certain point, depending on the hydrogen concentration during the heating process of the sensor operation. This dynamic temperature scanning method provides higher sensitivity than the constant temperature measurement method.
A SOx sensor using NASICON electrolyte was developed for monitoring of air pollution. The following galvanic cell with $Na_{2}SiO_{3}(Pt)$ reference electrode was assembled : Pt | $Na_{2}SiO_{3}$ | NASICON | $Na_{2}SO_{4}$ | Pt, $SO_{2}$, air $Na_{2}SO_{4}$ was used as an indicator electrode to protect NASICON electrolytes from chemical reaction with $SO_{2}$. The EMFs were measured after injecting $SO_{2}$ in the initial concentrations range of $5{\sim}95ppm$ at $400{\sim}550^{\circ}C$. The measured and calculated potentials were in good agreement above $500^{\circ}C$. However, the cells were unstable below $500^{\circ}C$, most likely due to incomplete attainment of chemical equilibrium. Response time was within 10 min. Based on the stability and response time of this cell, the NASICON solid electrolyte with $Na_{2}SiO_{3}(Pt)$ as the reference electrode and $Na_{2}SO_{4}$ (Pt)as the indicator electrode showed the possibility of a reliable, inexpensive commercial solid-state SOx sensor.
Zirconia soild electrolytes containing 4~10mol% of yttria were prepared by wet-blending of oxides and rea-ction-sintering, Sinterbility and degree of stabilization were optimized for the development of oxygen sensor. Fracture strength thermal expansion coefficient electrical conductivity and galvanic potential were measured and discussed with respect to the amount of ytria addition phase transformation microstructure and degree of stabilization. It was found that sintering and stabilization occurred when the composition was designed to be near the boundary region of $ZrO_2-Y_2O_3$ binary system. In such away a good zirconia solid electrolyte suitable for oxygen sensor could be developed.
