  • Hyperhidrosis is the state of abnormal sweating on the palm, sole and axillary region. The main treatment of hyperhidrosis are surgical sympathectomy and a thoracic sympathetic ganglion block with neurolytics. Among them, a thoracic sympathetic ganglion block is used in pain clinic for the treatment of hyperhidrosis. I have successfully performed a thoracic sympathetic ganglion block on a 21 year old female patients with pure alcohol. I concluded that the thoracic sympathetic ganglion block was one of the most effective treatment of hyperhidrosis.

  • Mycobacterium sp. strain JC1 was capable of growth on benzylamine as a sole source of carbon and energy. The primary deamination of benzylamine was mediated by an inducible amine oxidase, which can also oxidize tyramine, histamine, and dopamine. Inhibitor study identified this enzyme as a copper-containing amine oxidase sensitive to semicarbazide.

  • Malonate kinase and isocitrate lyase were induced in Acinetobacter calcoaceticus grown on malonate as a sole carbon source but repressed by succinate. The induction of those two enzymes was stimulated by dibutyryl cyclic adenosine 3', 5'-monophosphate, indicating that the expression of their genes for those enzymes is dependent on cyclic adenosine 3', 5'-monophosphate.

  • 지금까지 많은 항균성 펩타이드가 포유류 (1), 양서류 (2), 곤충 (3) 및 식물 (4)로 부터 단리ㆍ정제되었고, 구조-활성간의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있지만, 이러한 연구는 육상생물에 제한적으로 수행되어 겼으며 해양생물을 대상으로 한 연구는 극히 제한되어 있는 상태이다. 해양생물로부터 정제된 항균성 펩타이드로서는 Flounder skin 분비물에서 pleurocidin (5), Moses sole fish에서 pardaxins (6), Horseshoe crab에서 Tachyplesin I(7), Tunicates hemocytes에서 Clavanins (8), Mollusc에서 Mytilins (9) 등이 보고되고 있지만 불가사리를 이용한 항균성물질의 연구는 희박한 실정이다. Immunohistochemistry: sole tool in diagnosing a rare case of primary vaginal amelanotic melanoma

  • We report a rare case of vaginal amelanotic melanoma. Malignant melanomas are cutaneous and extracutaneous tumors that arise from embryological remnants of neural crest cells/melanocytes. Amelanotic melanomas at such rare locations can be misdiagnosed both clinically and radiologically. Therefore, histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry are mandatory for the diagnosis of these tumors. We diagnosed this case using histopathology and confirmed the diagnosis based on the presence of immunohistochemical markers human melanoma black 45 (HMB45) and S-100.

흉부물리요법이 기관 분비물량과 동맥혈 산소분압에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Chest Physiotherapy on the Amount of Tracheal Secretion and $PaO_2$)

  • The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of chest physiotherapy on the amount of tracheal secretion and $PaO_2$. After changing position of the neurosurgical patients who had tracheostomy cannula, experimental treatments were applied as bellows, manual chest percussion on groupI, chest percussion and manual chest vibration on groupII, chest percussion and mechanical chest vibration on groupIII were done. After these trials, we have analyzed the efficacy of each procedures comparing the group differences in the quantity of tracheal secretion and $PaO_2$. Target samples were sixty patients aged between 20 to 60 who have tracheostomy state and decreased consciousness status that were admitted in NICU of a university hospital from June 1 to August 31, 1999. They assigned randomly into three experimental groups. To compare the effect of each interventions, tracheal secretion quantify was measured and $PaO_2$ was analyzed via arterial blood gas analyzer. The data were analyzed by ANCOVA of 5% significance level using SPSS P/C program. The results were as bellows. 1) The first hypothesis 'There is a difference In the quantify of the secretion among GroupI, GroupII and GroupIII' was accepted.(F=29.27, p=0.00) 2) The second hypothesis 'There is a difference in $PaO_2$ among GroupI, GroupII and GroupIII' was rejected.(F=1.71, p=0.19) From this study results, positional change and manual chest vibration including chest percussion were the most effective treatment to get maximum amount of tracheal secretion and it was confirmed that mechanical chest vibration also made much better effect than sole chest percussion method. Therefore, we concluded that the mechanical or manual chest vibration with chest percussion is more effective respiratory care method than the sole chest percussion.

단위거리 12진부호의 몇가지 특성 (Some Characteristics of Unit-Distance Duo-Decimal Codes)

  • 12-Tuple DS (digit sequence) (또는 coordinate sequence)의 여러 가지 성질에 관하여 논하였으며 그것을 통일적으로 표시하기 위한 31종의 PDS(prime digit sequence)를 제안하여 이에 단순히 회전변환만을 실시함으로써 실제의 부호를 표시하는 348종의 DS를 얻을 수 있고 또 이것들에 대한번호교환 즉 순열(permutation)과 부호의 초기조건을 고려하면 단위거리 12진 부호의 총수는 120,576종이며 이 중의 임의의 부호를 지정하든지 기술하든지 할 수 있도록 하였다. 그리고 대칭부호(반대부호), Lippel 부호등 특수한 부호를 위한 DS들의 특성과 그것들이 회로화에 대하여도 언급하였다. Investigations on sole characteristics of unit-distance duo-decimal codes are carried out, and 31kinds of Prime Digit Sequence (PDS) are proposed in order to express various digit sequences. From these PDS, by means of the rotational conversion, 348 digit sequences which express the practical GC are obtained, and, ism these digit sequences, it is found that there are 120576 unit distance codes by the permutation of the coordinate number and the initial condition of the codes. Some special codes such as reflected or symmetrical codes and Lippel codes, and their application to the practical GC counter are also studied.
