This study investigated the problems of Korean female combat uniforms and collected primary data for developing new combat uniforms with improved functionality. We analyzed fit and motion suitability by administering a questionnaire evaluating the current uniforms to 20 Korean female soldiers. The evaluation of fit suitability found that satisfaction with the combat uniforms was generally high. However, short sleeve length, large wrist circumference, small hip circumference, large ankle circumference, and low crotch height were discomfort factors. In the evaluation of motion suitability, dissatisfaction was found with the sleeve circumference, elbow circumference, armhole circumference, knee crease and crotch height, and back waist height during motion. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a more segmented size system that suits the physique of current female soldiers and to devise appropriate solutions for improving motion suitability. This study is meaningful for its evaluation of the current combat uniform of female soldiers, and it is expected to serve as a reference for the future development of military combat uniforms for this group.

1795년 윤2월 12일 정조가 친림하여 행한 장용영 외영의 군사 훈련을 그린 <서장대야조도>를 중심으로 장용영 하급 군사들의 위치와 역할, 역할별 군복의 구성과 특징을 고찰하였으며 결과는 다음과 같다. <서장대야조도>에서 정조가 자리한 서장대 앞에 2열로 마주보도록 배치된 등롱군·뇌자·순령수·대기수와, 서장대를 둘러싸고 정조를 호위한 군사들은 모두 장용영 소속 하급 군사들이었다. 정조 앞에 배치된[御前前排] 등롱군의 군복은 전립, 흑색 협수, 홍색 괘자, 남색 전대, 백색 제비행전, 흑혜로 고증하였다. 하급 군사들의 협수는 기존 학계에 알려진 관직자들의 무가 있는 협수와는 달리 소창의형 협수일 가능성을 제시하였다. 등롱군은 칼을 차고 손에는 홍사촉롱을 들었다. 뇌자는 신전수와 주장수가 있었다. 왕 앞에 배치된 뇌자의 군복은 주전립, 흑색 협수, 홍색 괘자, 남색 전대, 백색 제비행전, 흑혜로 고증하였다. 뇌자는 칼을 차고 신전기 또는 주장을 들었다. 왕 앞에 배치된 순령수는 순시기수와 영기수가 있었다. 순령수의 군복은 전건, 흑색 협수, 홍색 괘자, 남색 전대, 백색 제비행전, 흑혜로 고증하였다. 순령수는 칼을 차고 홍순시기 또는 홍령기를 들었다. 왕 앞에 배치된 대기수의 군복은 전건, 흑색 협수, 청색 괘자, 남색 전대, 백색 제비행전, 흑혜로 고증하였다. 왕 앞에 배치되는 다른 군사들과 달리 대기수는 정조대에 와서야 왕 앞에 배치됨으로써 괘자의 색상이 청색인 점이 달랐다. 대기수는 칼을 차고 대기치를 들었다. 서장대를 둘러싼 군사들은 전초군과 좌초군이었고, 성곽을 방어하는 군사들은 좌·우·전·후 초군으로 보았다. 초군의 군복은 전립, 흑색 협수, 호의, 남색 전대, 백색 제비행전, 짚신으로 고증하였다. 호의는 방위에 따른 색을 사용하였기에 좌초군은 청색, 우초군은 백색, 전초군은 홍색, 후초군은 흑색이었다. 초군이 소지하는 무기는 조총과 칼이었다. 성정군들은 조총과 칼 외에도 훈련 상황에 따라 횃불이나 등이 달린 기창을 들기도 하였다. 이상의 고증 결과를 반영한 시각화의 기본 원칙은 3D 콘텐츠 제작뿐만 아니라 실물 제작까지 가능하도록 시대와 신분에 적합한 형태·색상·재질 기준을 제안하였다. 역할별 복식 착장도에 무기와 군기(軍器)를 갖춘 앞·옆·뒤 모습으로 표현하고 색상을 RGB와 CMYK로 제안하였다.

This study obtains preliminary data through a multifaceted examination of work undertaken by soldiers and factors that should be considered in the development of wearable robots; in addition, the study explores the development direction for such robots in this segment. This study conducted a survey on males who had military experience in order to analyze work practices. The results of the survey indicate that there has been an existing need for wearable robots for soldiers and that soldiers prefer robots equipped with functions to support specific physical activities and those that offer comfort while being worn. In addition, it was found that the method to wear robots should be developed according to the body part that considered movements performed by soldiers. It was also found that strengthening functionality over aesthetic factors is extremely important. Soldiers desired wearable robots that could assist their main activities, protect their bodies, and incorporated an excellent system in terms of wearability.

Opera costumes are a tangible medium to directly affect how opera singers performed. Therefore, stage costumes have been designed in various ways to reflect intentions of directors. This study examines modernization of opera costumes. For this study, the author worked as one of costume design staff for "Faust" which was played in Sung-Nam Art Center from November 24, 2005 to November 27, 2005 in commemoration of the opening of the center. The following outcomes of the supporting actors are drawn from this study. Martha wore a grey jacket and a long skirt with slash. Grey suit symbolized chastity but tight long skirt with slash means sexy. Valentin wore military and combat uniforms to express that he was a soldier. The military uniform represented the situation before the war and the combat uniform symbolized the situation after the war. Rather short trousers, a white tweed jacket, purple flower ornament, a light green vest, and a beret were used to express Wagner, who looked ridiculous and always tried to flirt. Overalls, a blue jumper, and a scarlet baseball cap were used to make Siebel look naive and homely. Modern opera costumes now help reduce the time and space between stage and audience, improve economic efficiency and meet the audience's needs for various style.

The button is a part of costume. But it has the symbolism of costume in itself and reflects the sociocultural phenomena. The purpose of this study is to clarify symbolism of button of eighteenth and nineteenth century which had been most popular. This study is based on the library research. Through this paper, I reached conclusions as follows. The symbolism of button is found in various ways. First, Aesthetics is found in material, color, design and type etc. of button. Especially Indian silver button of abstract type shows well distinctive aesthetics of Indians. Second, The material and the number of button vary with one's status and show off one's privilege. I England, there was the rule, in which the symbol of the King was a silver button with a figure of lion. The livery button represents his family to the nble and shows the meaning of obedience to the servant. Third, The button on uniform varies with ranks. This is prominent in a uniform of a soldier or a policeman. Fourth Material and craft of button show one's economic position. The button gives a Very good picture of what one's life was then. Precious button with gold, silver, and other jewels is an index to one's property. Fifth, The button of political event is used for election, which shows the face and the name of runner. Besides that, there were buttons designed for the flag or the slogan for political event. Sixth, The button of social event reflects a social phase of life in war or revolution, for example, it satirizes the burning of the Bastille in the French Revolution, or the taxpayer bearing the burden. Seventh, the buttons that symbolize a historic event are made to commemorante an epochal and critical occurrence or an important person's birth, death, visit to some place, etc., Eighth, there were well-known persons, for example, a president, a king, a queen, a singer, or an artist in the buton of personality. Nineth, The button of one's company shows one's community in figures or pictures, that is, this button is used as a symbol one's community. Tenth, The button varies with the development of science and technology. It gives a very good picture of what it was and what the technological level was. Eleventh, The buttons that symmbolize on occupation most impressively are uniform buttons. Symbolic marks related with a particular occupation are carved on the buttons of compary employees' uniforms. Twelfth, Various natural phenomena are designed to appear on buttons, Some express themselves simply as they are, and others appear as a symbolic form such as environmental relationship between men and nature, four seasons, a constellation and all other natural things occurring during a year. Finally, The button of rebus is a motto expressed by a combination with objects figures, letters, words, or phrases.
