수퍼커패시터용 수용성 고분자 젤 전해질의 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Characteristics of Aqueous Polymeric Gel Electrolyte for Supercapaictor)

  • We have reported to make nanostructured cobalt oxide electrode that have large capacitance over than 400F/g (specific capacitance) and good cycleability. But, It had serious demerits of low voltage range under 0.5V and low power density. Therefore, we need to increase voltage range of cobalt oxide electrode. we report here on the electrochemical properties of sol-gel-derived nanoparticulate cobalt xerogel in 1M KOH solution and aqueous polymeric gel electrolyte. In solution electrolyte, cobalt oxide electrode had over than 250F/g capacitance consisted of EDLC and pseudocapacitance. In gel electrolyte, cobalt oxide electrode had around l00F/g capacitance. This capacitance was only surface EDLC. In solution electrolyte, potassium ion as working ion reacted with both of layers easily. However, In gel electrolyte, reacted with only surface-active layer. Its very hard to reach resistive layer. So, we have studied on pretreatment of electrode to contain working ions easily. We'll report more details.

Preparation of$SnO_2$-based gas sensor by Sol-Gel process

  • This paper presents the preparation of SnO$_2$ films by Sol-Gel process and using spin coating method, and their sensing properties in CO gas. Experimental procedure consisted of following steps: (1) Tin chloride(SnCl$_4$) and Ammonium hydrogen carbonate (NH$_4$HCO$_3$) were used as precursors; (2) the Sol solution with concentration of about 10wt% SnO$_2$ was prepared from washed Gel-precipitate for spin coating step; (3) thereafter, the coating solution was dropped onto the alumina (Al$_2$O$_3$) substrate that was then spun, the spin coating was carried out with total 10 times; (4) finally, the films were calcined for 3 hours at 50$0^{\circ}C$ or higher temperature (600, 700, 800 or 90$0^{\circ}C$) in order to obtain various gram sizes. The average grain size was calculated by Scherrer's equation using main peaks in XRD spectra; meanwhile the thickness, microstructure and surface morphology of the films were observed by FE-SEM.

  • Strontium barium niobate, (Sr$\sub$0.5/Ba$\sub$0.5/Nb$_2$O$\sub$6/), thin films of various composition were prepared by the sol-gel method. Solution derived from acetate powders and niobium ethoxide in a mixture of acetic acid, ethylene glycol and 2-methoxyehanol was spin-coated onto bare silicon, Pt-coated silicon and fused silica substrates. Processing parameters were optimized to develop stable solutions which yielded films with relatively low crystallization temperatures. It was determined that ethylene glycol was a necessary component of the solution to increase stability against precipitation and to decrease the crystallization temperature of the films as confirmed by XRD and FT-IR analyses.

Growth of Textured CoFe2O4 Thin Films on Platinized Silicon Prepared by a Sol-Gel Method

  • We fabricated textured polycrystalline $CoFe_2O_4$ thin films on $Pt(111)/TiO_2/SiO_2/Si$ substrate through a sol-gel method. We varied the thickness of the films, by using precursor solutions with different concentrations of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 M, and by depositing 5, 8, or 10 layers on the substrate by spin-coating. X-ray diffraction spectra indicated that when the precursor concentration of the solution was higher than 0.1 M, the spin-coated films were preferentially oriented in the <111> direction. Inspection of the surface morphology by scanning electron microscopy revealed that $CoFe_2O_4$ thin films prepared with 0.2 M solution and 5-time spin-coatings had smoother surface, as compared to the other conditions. Each coating had an average thickness of about 50 nm. The magnetic properties measured by vibrating sample magnetometer showed magnetic anisotropy, as evidenced from the difference in the in-plane and out-of-plane hysteresis loops, which we attributed to the textured orientation of the $CoFe_2O_4$ thin films.

Synthesis and Characterization of Cathode Materials for the Lithium Secondary Batteries by Spray Drying Method

  • It has been known that the synthesis of the cathode materials for the lithium rechargeable batteries by the sol-gel process has many advantages over the conventional solid-state method. It has been, however, a continuing issue that new additional steps should be introduced to commercialize this process. In this work, spray drying was introduced to the existing sol-gel process as a continuous mass production method of the pre-heat treatment precursor materials. The precursors of $LiCoO_2$ and $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.2}O_2$ were continuously produced through spray drying from the solution containing stoichiometric amount of lithium, cobalt, and nickel sources as well as a chelating agent. The process variables, such as pH of the starting solution, spray drying conditions, and calcination conditions were optimized. The XRD pattern for the synthesized material indicated a good crystallinity with a layered structure.

Au/Titania Composite Nanoparticle Arrays with Controlled Size and Spacing by Organic-Inorganic Nanohybridization in Thin Film Block Copolymer Templates

  • A simple approach to prepare arrays of Au/TiO2 composite nanoparticles by using Au-loaded block copolymers as templates combined with a sol-gel process is described. The organic-inorganic hybrid films with closely packed inorganic nanodomains in organic matrix are produced by spin coating the mixtures of polystyrene-block-poly(ethylene oxide) (PS-b-PEO)/HAuCl4 solution and sol-gel precursor solution. After removal of the organic matrix with deep UV irradiation, arrays of Au/TiO2 composite nanoparticles with different compositions or particle sizes can be easily produced. Different photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra from an organic-inorganic hybrid film and arrays of Au/TiO2 composite nanoparticles indicate that TiO2 and Au components exist as separate state in the initial hybrid film and form composite nanoparticles after the removal of the block copolymer matrix.

물유리를 이용한 고순도 나노실리카 제조 (Synthesis of High Purity Nano-Silica Using Water Glass)

  • Silica nano-powder (SNP) is an inorganic material able to provide high-performance in various fields because of its multiple functions. Methods used to synthesize high purity SNP, include crushing silica minerals, vapor reaction of silica chloride, and a sol-gel process using TEOS and sodium silicate solution. The sol-gel process is the cheapest method for synthesis of SNP, and was used in this study. First, we investigated the shape and the size of the silica-powder particles in relation to the variation of HCl and sodium silicate concentrations. After drying, the shape of nano-silica powder differed in relation to variations in the HCl concentration. As the pH of the solution increased, so did the density of crosslinking. Initially, there was NaCl in the SNP. To increase its purity, we adopted a washing process that included centrifugation and filtration. After washing, the last of the NaCl was removed using DI water, leaving only amorphous silica powder. The purity of nano-silica powder synthesized using sodium silicate was over 99.6%.

Effects of Solution Concentration on the Structural and Magnetic Properties of Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 Ferrite Nanoparticles Prepared by Sol-gel

  • The $Ni_{0.5}Zn_{0.5}Fe_2O_4$ nanoparticles about 30 nm were prepared using sol-gel method with metal nitrates dissolved in 2-methoxyathanol. The concentrations of the metal nitrates are adjusted from 0.1 to 0.75 M in order to study the influence on the structural and magnetic properties. The structure and morphology characterization revealed that the crystallinity was improved and the nanoparticle size was increased with the nutrition solution concentrations up to 0.5 M. Degraded crystallinity together with decreased nanoparticle size were observed for concentration of 0.75 M. The saturation magnetization at room temperature reached maximum at 0.5 M, which can be explained by considering the crystallinity and size effect.

  • β-Al2O3, which is used for solid electrolyte membrances in sodium-sulfur batteries, was prepared by sol-gel process. Sodium-n-propoxide NaOC3H7 and aluminum-isopropoxide Al(OC3H7)3 were hydrolyzated in the solution at pH 3, pH 7, pH 9 and pH 11, respectively. The sol-gel processed samples were calcined at several temperature steps, respectively and analysed by thermal analyser(DT-TGA), infrared spectrum analyser and X-ray diffraction analyser. The gelling rate of solution at pH 7 was much higher than that of the solution at pH 3. Thermal exchanging behavior of the gels at pH 3 were similar to Na2O·Al2O3·6H2O and, above pH 7, were similar to Na2O·Al2O3·3H2O. When samples' composition ratio was 9.13 : 90.87 [NaOC3H7:Al(OC3H7)3] at pH 7, β-Al2O3 was formed at 1100℃.
