실내 진동대 실험을 통한 하구둑 구조물의 내진 안정성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Stability of Earthquake in Estuary Barrage through Shaking Table Test)

  • Shaking table tests were performed to reproduce the dynamic behavior of estuary barrage and its subbase soil which can be potentially damaged during earthquake loading. For understanding the vibration effect to the ground during earthquake, the model was formulated with 1/300 scale of prototype estuary barrage and subbase soil. Scott and Iai(1989) proposed the law of the similarity for similar experimental conditions. The laboratory model shaking table test was conducted under the vibration condition of simulated earthquake of 0.154g. The horizontal displacement on the structure was measured during the shaking table test. The pore water pressure was also monitored for the underground layers of soil. The field horizontal displacement and the pore water pressure can be predicted by using the results of the laboratory shaking table test.

피에조콘 소산결과와 압축지수의 상관관계 (Correlation of Piezocone Dissipation Results and Compression Index)

  • Compression index is one of the important characteristic numbers in soft soil engineering. Since 1940's, many researchers have suggested various practical solutions to define the compression index of clay using other soil properties. But, these results are only can give us an outline of soft soil behavior. In this study, the relationships between pore water pressure dissipation test results and compression index were suggested using comparison results of both tests. This relationships are based on basic concept of consolidation phenomena, essential difference between pore water pressure dissipation test and consolidation test, and disagreements between theoretical time factor and real time factor. To identify proportional factor of proposed equation, Geotechnical investigation results of Kwang-Yang(KY) site and Busan New Port(BN) site were used. The proportional factor was 0.0031 from 20 to 50% of consolidation rate where correlation parameter($R^2$) is 0.9051.

강우시 토사사면내의 간극수압변화에 관한 실험적 고찰 (A Experimental Study on the Variation of the Pore-water Pressure in the Soil Slope during the Rainfall)

  • 본 연구는 강우시 토사사면의 침투거동 특성을 규명하기 위한 기초연구로서 강우재현장치를 활용하여 실내모형실험을 실시하여 유한사면내의 간극수압의 변화를 측정하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 강우지속시간에 따른 강우시 유한사면내의 침투거동 특성을 분석하였다. 분석결과 강우가 지속적으로 발생됨에 따라 사면내의 간극수압은 점차 증가하는 것을 알 수 있으며, 강우초기에는 사면 중앙부 표면에서 간극수압이 크고 강우가 점차 지속됨에 따라 사면내로 강우가 침투하여 사면붕괴 직전에는 사면내부의 간극수압이 크게 증가되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 실시한 실내실험은 계측기의 민감도가 높고 조작이 용이하지 못하여 많은 실험결과를 얻지 못하였으며, 향후 다양한 사면경사에서의 유한사면에 대한 강우시 침투거동 특성에 대해 실험적 연구가 필요하다고 생각된다.

  • Excessive rainfalls due to climatic changes can trigger an increase in rainfall-induced slope failures that pose real threats to both lives and properties. Many high slopes in residual soils could stand at a steep angle, but failed during or after rainfall. Commonly, these slopes have a deep groundwater table and negative pore-water pressures in the unsaturated zone above the groundwater table contribute to the shear strength of soil and consequently to factor of safety of the slope. Stability assessment of slope under rainfall requires information on rate of rainwater infiltration in the unsaturated zone and the resulting changes in pore-water pressure and shear strength of soil. This paper describes the application of unsaturated soil mechanics principles and theories in the assessment of rainfall effect on stability of slope through proper characterization of soil properties, measurement of negative pore-water pressures, seepage and slope stability analyses involving unsaturated and saturated soils. Factors controlling the rate of changes in factor of safety during rainfall and a preventive method to minimize infiltration are highlighted in this paper.

점성토의 회복탄성계수($M_r$)에 대한 포화도의 영향 (Effect of Saturation on Resilient Modulus of Cohesive soils as subgrade)

  • The objective of this study was to identify the effect of the degree of saturation on the resilient modulus of cohesive soils as subgrade. Six representative cohesive soils representing A-4, A-6, and A-7-6 soil types collected from road construction sites across Ohio, were tested in the laboratory to determine their basic engineering properties. Resilient modulus tests were conducted on unsaturated cohesive soils at optimum moisture content, and samples compacted to optimum conditions but allowed to fully saturate. The subgrade compacted at optimum moisture content may be fully saturated due to seasonal change. Laboratory tests on fully saturated cohesive soils showed that the resilient modulus of saturated soils decreased to less than half that of soil specimens tested at optimum moisture content. The reduction of resilient modulus would possibly be caused by the buildup of pore water pressure. In resilient modulus testing performed in this study on saturated samples, pore water pressure increases were observed. Pore water pressure and residual pore water pressure gradually increased with an increase in deviator stress.

계면활성제를 이용한 포화지층내 저비중 비수용성 유기용매의 제거거동에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study on Surfactant Enhanced LNAPL Removal Behavior in Saturated Zone)

  • BTEX로 오염된 혼합토(사질토/점토)의 정화를 위한 계면활성제 기법의 적용성 및 제거효율에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 초기농도 275mg/kg으로부터 1975mg/kg의 BTEX로 오염시킨 8개의 컬럼에 물, methyl alcohol과 계면활성제 용액을 주입하였고 이때 계면활성제와 첨가물의 혼합과 비혼합시에 대해 제거거동을 비교 분석하였다. 물을 이용한 흙 세척법의 적용 결과 850 간극부피의 물을 주입하여 98%의 제거 효율을 보였으나 8mg/kg 이하의 저농도에서는 더 이상 제거가 이루어지지 않고 일정한 양상을 가지는 tailing effect를 보였다. 본 실험 결과 가장 우수한 조건은3% ethyl alcohol과 3% SXS를 첨가한 4% SOFTANOL(equation omitted)-90을 간헐적으로 주입한 경우였으며 이 때 95 간극부피에서 99.5%의 제거효율을 보였다. 실험결과 물을 주입하였을 경우 850 간극부피를 주입한 반면, 계면활성제 적용시 95-165 간극부피에서 84.5%-99.5%의 제거효율을 보였는데 이는 계면활성제 기법을 오염된 지반 정화에 효율적으로 적용할 수 있음을 나타내는 것이다.

  • 토양수분조건에 따른 공극(孔隙) 크기별 분포(分布)의 변화를 구명하기 위하여 Vertisol과 Alfisol을 가지고 수분조건(水分條件)이 각각 0.033MPa, 1.5Mpa 및 건조상태(乾燥狀態)에서 동결건조(凍結乾燥)시켜 수은(水銀) 침투법(浸透法)과 보수력(保水力)으로 공극(孔隙)의 크기별 분포(分布)를 측정(測定)하였다. 수은(水銀) 침투법(浸透法)으로 측정한 공극량은 보수력법(保水力法)보다 대공극량(大孔隙量)이 많았고 냉동건조전(冷凍乾燥前)의 수분조건(水分條件)에 따라서도 공극분포(孔隙分布)는 큰 차이가 있었다.

An Analysis on Remediation of Soil Contaminted with Cobalt by Solvent Flushing

  • A soil whose texture is silt loam was collected for the study from an area around a nuclear facility in Korea. The equilibrium sorption coefficient between Co$^{2+}$in water and the soil was 1.51/kg, on the other hand, that between Co$^{2+}$ in EDTA and the soil was 0.21/kg. The values calculated by the developed nonequilibrium sorption code corresponded to the experimental values better than those calculated by the existing equilibrium sorption code. When an EDTA solution was used as a solvent to decontaminate Co$^{2+}$ in the soil column, the relative Co$^{2+}$ concentrations of the effluent were higher at 2~10 pore volumes than those of the case using water. The soil in the column was decontaminated by 95.5% of the total amount of Co$^{2+}$ after being flushed with EDTA solution of 20 pore volumes.e volumes.

흙-수분 특성곡선 방정식을 이용한 포화도의 예측 (Prediction of the Degree of Saturation Using the Soil-Water Characteristic Curves on an Unsaturated Soil)

  • The aim of the work described in this paper was to confirm the application of the equation of the soil-water characteristic curves on an unsaturated soil. A series of suction test for unsaturated soils was conducted on the selected 4 kinds of soil using modified pressure extractor apparatus. And it was carried out to analyse The experimental parameters which can be describe the soil-water characteristics, were determined by using the data obtained from the experiment. From the results, it was found that The matric suction varied according to the grain size distribution, amount of fine grain particles and void ratio. Also it was found that the residual degree of saturation was decreased with in crease of the void ratio, but the pore size distribution index and air entry value were increased with in crease of the void ratio. And The application of the soil-water characteristic curve equation was confirmed for the various conditions and the various state by the comparison between the measured degree of saturation and the predicted degree of saturation.

  • This paper presents a study regarding the influence of various water levels on the characteristics of subgrade mud pumping through a self-developed test instrument. The characteristics of mud pumping are primarily reflected by axial strain, excess pore water pressure, and fine particle migration. The results show that the axial strain increases nonlinearly with an increase in cycles number; however, the increasing rate gradually decreases, thus, an empirical model for calculating the axial strain of the samples is presented. The excess pore water pressure increases rapidly first and then decreases slowly with an increase in cycles number. Furthermore, the dynamic stress within the soil first rapidly decreases and then eventually slows. The results indicate that the axial strain, excess pore water pressure, and the height and weight of the migrated fine particles decrease significantly with a low water level. In this study, when the water level is 50 mm lower than the subgrade soil surface, the issue of subgrade mud pumping no longer exist.
