강원도 석탄 폐광지 주변 폐석더미에서 복토와 식생기반재 처리가 소나무(Pinus densiflora Siebold & Zucc.)와 참싸리(Lespedeza cyrtobotrya Miq.)의 경쟁에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Soil Covering Depth and Vegetation Base Materials on the Competition between Pinus densiflora Siebold & Zucc. and Lespedeza cyrtobotrya Miq. at Abandoned Coal Mine Land in Gangwon, Korea)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of soil covering depth and vegetation base materials on the competition between Pinus densiflora Siebold & Zucc. and Lespedeza cyrtobotrya Miq., which were grown in an abandoned coal mine land for three years after seeding, by comparing their growth and stem density. The study site was consisted of sub-plots with four different soil covering depths (0cm, 10cm, 20cm, and 30cm) and four different compounds of vegetation base materials (peat moss (control), soil conditioner+peat moss (S+P), erosion control material+peat moss (E+P), and soil conditioner+erosion control material+peat moss (S+E+P)). Results of this study showed opposite pattern between P. densiflora and L. cyrtobotrya with different soil covering depth and compounds of vegetation base materials in general. P. densiflora showed the highest growth and stem density in plots with 10cm and 0cm depths of soil covering, respectively, while the lowest was shown in plots with 20cm depth of soil covering. In contrast, L. cyrtobotrya showed the highest growth and stem density in plots with 20cm depth of soil covering, while the lowest was shown in plots with 0cm depth of soil covering. In case of vegetation base materials, P. densiflora showed the highest growth and stem density in control plots and plots treated with S+P, respectively, while the lowest was shown in plots with S+E+P treatment. On the other hand, L. cyrtobotrya showed the highest growth and stem density in plots treated with S+E+P, while the lowest was shown in control plots. These results suggested the competition between two plants as a major cause of opposite patterns, which is induced by the suppressed growth and stem density of P. densiflora by fast growing L. cyrtobotrya. Despite the suppression of L. cyrtobotrya on P. densiflora, L. cyrtobotrya can play a positive role in improving soil quality, and thus it would be more desirable for restoring abandoned coal mine land to manage the growth of L. cyrtobotrya periodically, rather than eliminate them.

오염 토양 정화공정에 의한 토양의 특성 변화 및 정화토의 회복기술 (Changes of Soil Properties through the Remediation Processes and Techniques for the Restoration of Remediated Soils)

  • 매년 다량 발생되고 있는 정화토가 적절하게 재이용 또는 재활용되지 못하고 반출 처리장에 적치되어 또 다른 환경적 이슈가 되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 이러한 정화토의 재이용 및 재활용을 활성화하기 위하여 필요한 정화토의 토양 질 회복 기술에 대한 연구 및 개발 동향을 조사하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 정화기술별 토양 특성의 변화 양상을 살펴보고, 정화공정에 따른 토양 질의 열화 특성을 파악하였다. 뿐만 아니라 정화토 재이용 및 재활용을 위한 정책적 관련 사항들을 정리하고, 향후 필요한 연구들에 대하여 제안하였다. 본 논문은 국내외 관련 문헌들을 검색하여 작성하였다. 키워드 검색을 통하여 정화기술별 토양 특성의 변화와 토양 개량 및 회복 기술과 연관된 문헌을 조사하였으며, 본문에서는 주로 최근에 발표된 문헌들을 바탕으로 논의하였다. 뿐만 아니라, 제 1, 2차 토양보전기본계획을 참고하여 정화토 재이용 및 재활용과 관련된 정책적 사항들을 정리하였다. 현재까지 국내에서 가장 많이 적용된 토양경작, 토양세척, 열탈착 등을 대상으로 정화공정에 따른 토양의 특성 변화를 정리한 결과, 적용하는 정화기술에 따라서 매우 상이하게 나타나는 것으로 조사되었다. 특히 정화공정을 거치면서 토양 질이 열화되는 양상이 정화기술에 따라서 다르게 나타났다. 토양 개량 및 회복 기술은 크게 무기 개량제, 유기 개량제, 생물학적 개량제 등의 제제를 이용한 방법들로 구분할 수 있으며, 각 개량제에는 다양한 물질들이 활용되고 있고, 각 물질에 따라 개선 또는 향상되는 토양의 특성이 달랐다. 하지만, 각 정화기술별 열화되는 토양 질 회복을 위한 연구들은 현재까지 활발하게 수행되지 않은 것으로 조사되었다. 제 2차 토양보전기본계획에서는 정화토의 품질인증제, 목표관리제 등과 같은 정책적 방안이 명시되어 있음으로써 향후 정화토의 재이용 및 재활용이 촉진될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 정화토의 재이용 및 재활용을 위해서는 적용된 정화기술과 미래 용도를 고려한 공공활용성을 담보한 회복 기술들이 개발되어야 할 것으로 판단된다. 이와 더불어 제 2차 토양보전기본계획에서 제시한 정화토의 적극적 활용을 위해서는 이를 뒷받침할 수 있는 구체적이고 세부적인 정책 추진 방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다.

지리정보시스템을 이용한 농촌소득작목재배적지선정 (Selection of agricultural income crops cultivation suit-land using GIS)

  • GIS를 이용한 각종응용연구가 많은 기관별로 이루어지고 있고, 실제로 다양한 결과물이 산출되고 있다. 충청북도는 지방자치 실시이후 변화하고 있는 지방행정 환경변화에 적극 대응하고 행정의 과학화를 위하여 GIS를 도입하였다. UR에 적극 대비하고자 연구과제로 농촌 소득작목재배 적지선정을 위한 GIS를 적용 기술들을 개발하여, 실제 농정관련 정책수립에 유용한 정보를 제공하였다. 본 연구는 작물재배에 최적합한 분석인자들인 작물재배표의 토성, 토양경사, 유효토심, pH등이 GIS기법을 이용하여 분석되었고, 본 연구를 통하여 작성된 소득작목 적지 선정도는 현재 해당지역 군 농촌지도소에 전달, 효과적으로 사용하고 있다. 이번 연구를 위하여 사용된 GIS시스템은 ARC/INFO이며, 영상처리를 위하여는 ERDAS를 이용하였다.

부산시 일원의 토양 오염도 조사 (A Survey of Soil Pollution in Pusan City Area)

  • To provide a basis for setting up an environmental pollution policy of Pusan, an investigation of metal contents in the soil of Pusan was carried out from May, 1993 to April, 1994. Soil was sampled from 10 sites of industrial area,8 sites of commercial area, 8 sites of residential area, 8 sites of green area and 8 sites of agricultural area. The industrial area was the most heavily polluted and the average contents of Cd, Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb and As were 0.580, 19.377, 67.348, 59.638, 58.555 and 1.006 ppm, respectively. In the soil of commercial area, the average contents of Cd, Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb and As were 0.453, 19.110, 63.384, 56.006, 37.466 and 0.578 ppm, respectively, and the average contents of Cd, Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb and As were 0.289, 10.312, 55.246, 55.536, 17.695 and 0.610 ppm, respectively, in the soil of residential area. The green area was the least polluted and the average contents of Cd, Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb and As were 0.215, 5.949, 19.366, 37.244, 6.856 and 0.295 ppm, respectively. In the soil of agricultural area, the average contents of Cd, Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb and As were 0.160, 7.077, 25.365, 51.485, 10.607 and 0.499 ppm, respectively The fact that the Cd content of agricultural area was lower than that of green area is remarkable.

Priority Assessment for Remediation of Heavy Metals Closed/Abandoned Mine Areas Using Pollution Indexes

  • Several metalliferous and coal mines, including Seojin and Okdong located at the Kangwon province, were abandoned or closed since 1989 due to the mining industry promotion policy and thus disposed an enormous amount of mining wastes without a proper treatment facilities, resulting in water and soil pollution in the downstream areas. However, no quantitative assessment was made on soil and water pollution by the transport of mining wastes such as acid mine drainage, mine tailing, and rocky waste. In this research, total and fractional concentrations of heavy metals in mining wastes were analyzed and accordingly the degree of water and soil pollutions in the stream area were quantitatively assessed employing the several pollution indices. Concentrations of Ni, Cd, and Pb in soils near the abandoned coal mine areas were 1,240.0, 25.0 and 1,093.0 mg/kg, respectively, and these concentrations were higher than those in soils near the closed metalliferous mine areas. Also Cu concentrations in soils near the tailing dams were about 1967 mg/kg, which is considered as very polluted level. Results demonstrated that soil at the abandoned mine areas were highly contaminated by AMO, tailing, and effluents of the mining wastes. Therefore, a prompt countermeasure on the mining waste treatment and remediation of the codntaminated water and soil should be made to the abandoned or closed metalliferous and coal mines located at the abandoned mine area.

An option to provide water and fertilization for rice production in alkaline soil: fertigation with slow release fertilizers (SRFs)

  • An increasing global population requires a greater food supply, and accordingly there is demand for enhanced production of rice, as a major crop plant that covers half of the world's population. Rice production in arid area is extremely difficult due to poor soil fertility, salinity, deficit of irrigation water, and weather conditions. The aim of the present study was to determine whether various fertilization recipes could provide a countermeasure to allow rice production while also providing soil amendment such as soil pH adjustment. The study was conducted at an experimental field of the United Arab-Emirates (UAE) from January to April, 2022. Rice seedlings (cv. Asemi, alkaline-resistant) were transplanted in plastic containers, and different types of water and nutrient managements were employed as follows: water management (flooding and aerobic for NPKs treatment group) and nutrient management (NPKs, slow release fertilizers [SRFs] and SRFs + NPK-1 treatment groups with flooding). Water and nutrient management did not show any effect on soil pH adjustment. Rice growth was significantly enhanced in the flooding compared to the aerobic condition, whereas the effect of nutrient management clearly differed among the treatment groups, with SRFs + NPK-1 showing the best results followed by SRFs and NPKs. Most of the fertilization groups markedly accumulated soluble sugars in the shoots and grains of rice plants, but concomitantly a decrease in the roots. Overall, the level of starch showed a tendency of relatively slight perturbation by fertilization. Taken together, the results indicate that soil physical structure should be preferentially amended to find the key for suitable rice production.

APEX(Agricultural Policy/Environmental eXtender) Model: An Emerging Tool for Agricultural Environmental Analyses

  • The agricultural policy/Environmental eXtender (APEX) model was developed by the Blackland Research and Extension Center in Temple, Texas. APEX is a flexible and dynamic tool that is capable of simulating a wide array of management practices, cropping systems, and other land uses across a broad range of agricultural landscapes, including whole farms and small watersheds. The model can be configured for novel land management strategies, such as filter strip impacts on pollutant losses from upslope crop fields, vegetated grassed waterways in combination with filter strip impacts, and land application of manure removed from livestock feedlots or waste storage ponds. The APEX model has continually evolved since its inception, and the process of adaptation and modification will likely continue as use of the model expands for an ever-increasing range of environmental problems and conditions. Several improvements to specific model subroutines have already been initiated, while other potential improvements have been identified that will require future research and code modification efforts.

Analysis of Electroencephalogram and Electrocardiogram Changes in Adults in National Healing Forests Environment

  • This study analyzed the changes in Electroencephalogram(EEG) and Electrocardiogram(ECG) depending on the healing environment in order to find a way to improve the forest healing program based on the healing environment in response to the demand for qualitative improvement of the program since the program is a charged service. This study selected eight sites running forest healing programs at four national healing forests (i.e., Saneum, Cheongtaesan, Daegwanryeng, and Jangseong) - two routes per national healing forest - considering forest environments. This study chose NUMBER standard sampling plots ($20{\times}20m$) and measured three atmospheric environment items, seven physical environment items, two soil environment items, and eight vegetation environment items including forest sound and anion at each plot to evaluate physiological changes in it. EEG and ECG, which have been widely used in forest healing evaluation, were utilized as criteria. Seventy three subjects were selected with taking the age, drug, caffeine, smoking, and the time of last meal into consideration. As a result, EEG changes were correlated with three atmospheric environment items, six physical environment items, one soil environment item, and two vegetation environment items. ECG changes were significantly correlated with two atmospheric environment items, six physical environment items, two soil environment items, and two vegetation environment items (p<.05). It is expected that 11 environmental factors such as temperature, density, and altitude affecting EEG (e.g., alpha balance and gamma balance) and ECG (e.g., HRV mean) could be used as effective tools in developing more differentiated programs for improving healing effects.

유류오염토양이 식물식생에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on Effects of Oil Contaminated Soil on the Growth of Plant)

  • Oil contamination soil has been one of the most environmental social issues for decades in the inside and outside of country. The law of soil environmental preservation was carried out in the 1990s and the government controlled not only soil environment management and the remediation of contaminated soil but also promoted the development of remedial technology and cleanup business of contaminated soil by national policy. In addition to agriculture areas, the main oil contaminated sites are a gas station, oil reservoir, petro-chemical complex, site of railway carriage base and military camp. The contamination-frequency of agriculture area and effect sites are low but it has significantly important area on account of producing food for human beings. Therefore, we should be concerned about oil contamination damage of agriculture area. The oil contamination damage of agriculture area influenced drop of birth and breeding since the oil directly adheres to seeds and farm products even diffusion of contaminated soil to cultivation area. The studies of the crops and the food vegetation has not enough detailed data caused by the incident of oil contamination. This study investigated the effect of oil in germination and growth of selected plant seeds. In this study, we try to verify whether the oil contamination by accidents on farmland influenced the damage of farm produce and the mutual relation both oil contaminated soil or the vegetation of crops. The impact of oil on plant development was followed by phytotoxicity assessments. The plants exhibited visual symptoms of stress, growth reduction and perturbations in developmental parameters. The increase of the degree of pollution induced more marked effects in plants, likely because of the physical effects of oil. The relationships between the phytotoxicity contents of plants and growth reduction suggest a chemical toxicity of fuel oil. In addition, while cleaned up the contaminated soil under the standard of contaminated soil we examined it was suitable for region standard and it may have practical possibility for fill material of construction of afforestation and molding soil of landfill.

환경친화적 토양개량제의 농경지 중 잔류농약 경감효과 (Reduction Effects of Residual Pesticides using the Eco-friendly Soil Amendments in Agricultural Soil)

  • 토양 중 잔류농약 관리방안을 위해서 8종의 토양개량제(패화석, 생석회, 석회고토, 규산질비료, 부엽토, 유박, 상토, 왕겨숯)를 이용하여 토양 중 잔류농약 경감효과를 조사하였다. 실험방법은 토양에 0.1 mg/kg 수준으로 농약을 첨가한 후 토양개량제를 토양무게의 2% 수준으로 처리하고 7일 동안 상온보관 후 잔류농약 경감효과를 확인하였다. 잔류량 분석은 QuEChERS 전처리법과 HPLC-MS/MS를 이용하였고, 추가적으로 pH에 따른 토양 중 잔류농약 경감효과를 확인하기 위해 0, 1, 3, 7일의 pH를 측정하였다. 이에 따라, 2% 생석회를 투입한 토양에서는 boscalid, dimethomorph 및 tricyclazole을 제외한 azoxystrobin 등 7종의 농약이 95% 이상 경감되는 효과를 나타냈다. 또한 토양개량제 투입에 따른 토양 pH는 생석회를 첨가한 토양에서 pH 12.8 수준으로 가장 높은 증가를 나타냈다.
