셀레늄 처리 농도와 기간이 마늘의 생육에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Selenium Application Concentration and Periods on Growth in Garlic)

  • 토양에 비료 형태로 투여한 셀레늄 농도와 처리기간이 마늘의 생육에 미치는 영향을 구명하고자 본 실험을 수행하였다. 셀레늄의 농도가 높고 처리기간이 길수록 생체중은 대조구에 비하여 감소하였다. 셀레늄의 처리농도가 높고 처리기간이 길수록 3주 후 셀레늄의 함량은 구보다는 엽초에 많이 축적되었다 그러나 처리 6주 후에는 구>엽초>뿌리 순으로 셀레늄의 함량이 높았다. 셀레늄 처리 후 토양에 잔류하고 있는 셀레늄의 함량은 대조구와 차이가 없었다.

  • 참외 발효과 발생에 영향을 미치는 증산과 관련된 몇 가지 요인을 검토한 결과는 다음과 같다. 참외의 증산율은 지온이 높고 토양수분 함량이 많을수록 높았으며, 광도가 약하여 온도가 낮을 경우 증산율과 기공 전도도가 낮아졌고, 저온 다습한 기상조건에 의한 증산의 억제는 식물체와 대기사이의 증기압기울기가 낮아지는 것으로 생각된다. 발효과 발생은 과실의 비대가 느린 착색기 이후에 토양수분이 -10 kPa로 많고, 저온 다습하여 참외와 대기 사이에 증기압기울기가 낮게 형성되어 증산이 억제될 때 발생하였다. 따라서 참외의 발효과 발생은 착색기 이후 참외의 과실 비대가 지연되는 반면 지온이 높아 뿌리로부터 지상부로 수분의 공급이 원활하고, 저온 다습한 기상조건하에 수분의 증산이 억제되어 수분이 태좌부로 유입되면 발효과가 발생되는 것으로 생각된다.

토양검정(土壤檢定)에 의한 채소류(菜蔬類)의 삼요소(三要素) 시비량(施肥量) 조정(調整) (Revised Rates of NPK Fertilizers Based on Soil Testing for Vegetable Crops)

  • 1980~'90년대(年代)의 토양화학(土壤化學) 성분함량(成分含量) 및 기존(旣存) 시비량(施肥量) 성적(成績)을 이용(利用)하여 채소류(菜蔬類)에 대한 시비기준량(施肥基準量)을 보완조정(補完調整)한 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 연대별(年代別) 토양화학(土壤化學) 성분(成分)의 변화를 보면 1980~'90년대(年代)가 1960~'70년대(年代)에 비해 토양(土壤)의 인산(燐酸)과 가리(加里)가 축적(蓄積)되었으며, 전체(全體) 재배면적(栽培面積)에 대해 축적(蓄積)된 유효인산(有效燐酸)(400ppm이상(以上)) 및 치환성가리(置換性加里)(0.7me/100g이상(以上))의 면적(面積) 비율(比率)은 각각 70.5, 59.2%이었다. 2. 1980~'90년대(年代)의 토양화학성분(土壤化學成分)을 토대로 채소류별(菜蔬類別) 시비기준량(施肥基準量)을 하향조정(下向調整)하였으며, 그 결과(結果) 질소(窒素) 0~6.0kg/10a, 인산(燐酸) 0.7~12.3kg/10a, 가리(加里) 2.0~9.0kg/10a의 절감(節減)이 가능하였다. 3. 채소류(菜蔬類)에 대한 현행(現行) 시비추천(施把推薦) 공식(公式)을 종합적(綜合的)으로 보완(補完)해 토양화학성분(土壤化學咸分) 함량(含量)에 의한 필지(筆地)별 시비량추천(施肥量推薦)의 정확도(正確度)를 더욱 높였다.

고흥만 습지에서 증발산량의 산출 방법 (Estimation Method of Evapotranspiration over Goheung bay Wetland)

  • 증발산은 지표와 대기 사이에서 일어나는 에너지 상호작용에 기여하는 중요한 요소 중 하나이다. 갈대로 덮인 고흥만 간척지에서 현열, 토양열 그리고 순복사를 측정하여 증발산량을 조사하였다. 자동기상관측 자료로부터 산출된 증발산량은 구름과 바람의 연직경도가 $1s^{-1}$보다 미약한 경우를 제외하고 열수지 방정식으로 추정한 값과 잘 일치하였다. 토양열은 순복사의 약 10%로 평가되었다. 갈대로 구성된 식생캐노피 내에서 온도에 따른 포화수증기압의 변화율($${\Delta}{\sim_=}de_s/dT$$)이 약 1.5로 근사되었고, 증발산량은 순복사 에너지의 함수로 설명될 수 있다.

  • Acoustically enhanced soil flushing method is a newly developed in-situ remediation technique. However, there has not been an analytical method that can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of ultrasonic wave under different conditions. This study was undertaken to investigate the degree of enhancement in contaminant removal due to ultrasonic energy on the soil flushing method. The test conditions included different levels of ultrasonic power and hydraulic gradient. The test soils were Ottawa sand, a fine aggregate, and a natural soil, and the surrogate contaminant was a Crisco Vegetable Oil. The test results showed that sonication could increase contaminant removal significantly. Increasing sonication power increased pollutant removal. The faster the flow is, the smaller the degree of enhancement will be. The pollutants in dense soils are more difficult to be removed than in loose soils.

Effect of Activated Carbon on Growth of Allium tuberosum in Green House

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of activated carbon on leave production of Allium tuberosum. Growth characteristics including plant height and leaf length were the highest when activated carbon was added with 5%, suggesting that optimum amount of activated carbon was ranged from 5 to 10%. Weight of fresh green vegetable in Allium tuberosum was low in control. And fresh weight of Allium tuberosum was higher in 5% treatment of activated carbon. However, when the plants were grown in activated carbon of $5{\sim}10%$, fresh yield of green vegetable of Allium tuberosum can be increased by using Activated Carbon. Activated carbon can be utilized as a soil conditioner in agricultural crop areas.

The Bacillus zanthoxyli HS1 Strain Renders Vegetable Plants Resistant and Tolerant against Pathogen Infection and High Salinity Stress

  • Various management systems are being broadly employed to minimize crop yield loss resulting from abiotic and biotic stresses. Here we introduce a Bacillus zanthoxyli HS1 strain as a potent candidate for managing manifold stresses on vegetable plants. Considering 16S rDNA sequence and biochemical characteristics, the strain is closely related to B. zanthoxyli. The B. zanthoxyli HS1's soil-drench confers disease resistance on tomato and paprika plants against infection with Ralstonia solanacearum and Phytophthora capsici, respectively. Root and shoot growths are also increased in B. zanthoxyli HS1-treated cabbage, cucumber, and tomato plants, compared with those in mock-treated plants, after application of high salinity solution. Moreover, the pretreatment of B. zanthoxyli HS1 on cabbage plants inhibits the degradation of chloroplast pigments caused by high salinity stresses, whereas the inhibitory effect is not observed in cucumber plants. These findings suggest that B. zanthoxyli HS1 stain inhibits disease development and confers tolerance to salinity stress on vegetable plants.

  • 잎들깨 반촉성 재배시 흑색유공 polyethylene 멀칭효과와 파종적기 구명 및 입모향상 시험을 수행한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 흑색유공 polyethylene 멀칭재배가 무멀칭재배에 비해 지온이 높고, 출현이 빠른 반면 성숙이 늦고, 경장이 크며, 엽수량뿐만 아니라 종실수량도 많았다. 2. 생육과 저온피해 등을 고려해 볼 때, 잎들깨의 안정적인 파종기는 1월 상순이었다. 3. 입모향상에 도움이 되는 피복재료는 부직포와 투명 polyethylene이나 출현 후 안정성이나 관리의 편의성 등을 고려해 볼 때 부직포가 적당하였다.

토양 건조 스트레스와 기온상승에 의한 고추의 생리반응 및 생산량 변화 (Influence of Drought and High Temperature on the Physiological Response and Yield in Hot Pepper)

  • This study was conducted to determine the effects of combination of air temperature and soil water content on the growth, physiological disorder rate, and yield of hot peppers. The study was carried out in a typical plastic house (open on one side and with ventilation fans on the other side), which was maintained with gradient air temperature (maximum difference in air temperature: $6^{\circ}C$). The deficit irrigation (DI) treatment commenced 65 days after transplanting. The height of plant and fresh and dry weights of the stem increased at high air temperature (ambient + $6^{\circ}C$, extreme high temperature; EHT). Furthermore, the leaf area decreased significantly with the DI treatment. There were no significant differences in the stem diameter, number of branches, and fresh and dry weights of the leaves among all the treatments. The net photosynthesis rate of the full irrigation (FI) treatment was higher than that of the DI treatment. The photosynthesis rate at ambient air temperature was $19.7{\mu}mol\;CO_2m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$, the highest among all the treatments; however, the photosynthesis rate of the EHT treatment decreased by 60% ($12.3{\mu}mol\;CO_2m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$). Additionally, the formation of guard cells in the leaf was abnormal with the EHT treatment, and there was a decrease in translocation efficiency. The effects of air temperature treatment were more pronounced on the physiological disorder rate and yield. The physiological disorder rate of the EHT treatment was the highest under the DI treatment condition. The yield of the AFI (ambient air temperature with full irrigation) treatment was 3,771 kg/10a, the highest among all the treatments; however, the yield of the EHT treatment with DI and FI was 1,282 and 1,327 kg/10a, respectively. These results indicate that growth and physiological disorder rate improved with the EHT treatment; however, there was a decrease in yield. Furthermore, the formation of guard cells was abnormal and malfunctional.

Effect of Spent Mushroom Compost of Pleurotus pulmonarius on Growth Performance of Four Nigerian Vegetables

  • Spent mushroom compost (SMC) of Pleurotus pulmonarius (an edible fungus) was used as soil conditioner for the improvement of growth of four common Nigerian vegetables (Abelmoschus esculentus, Lycopersicum esculentum, Capsicum annum and Capsicum chinense). The results of these investigations showed that the vegetables responded well to the SMC treatment. Each of them attained its best growth and gave the highest number of flowers and fruits when planted on 6 kg of depleted garden soil supplemented with 600 g of SMC. The control experiment that has the seedlings of the vegetables planted on 6 kg of depleted garden soil only, without the application of SMC, showed stunted and poor growth, with few or no flower and fruit production. A. esculentus was the best utilizer of iron utilizing 118.0 mg/kg in the SMC used. Similarly; this vegetable utilized 1.48 mg/kg of nitrogen in the SMC. The highest height in each vegetable was attained with 6 kg of depleted garden soil supplemented with 600 g of SMC. At 9 wk, A. esculentus has the mean height of 85.0 cm while these values significantly increased to 100.00 cm at 14 wk ($p{\leq}0.05$). At 9 wk, L. esculentum has the highest mean height of 65.00 cm which increased to 71.00 cm after 14 wk. It was also observed that A. esculentus has the highest mean number of fruits (9.00), followed in order by C. chinense (8.00) and L. esculentum (7.00) ($p{\leq}0.05$) while, C. annum produced the least mean number of fruits (5.00). No fruits production was seen in the control experiments. The results of these findings were discussed in relation to the usage of SMC as possible organic fertilizer for the improvement of growth of vegetables in Nigeria.
