An Analysis of the Ageing Effect on the Removal of Cesium and Cobalt from Radioactive Soil by the Electrokinetic Method

  • The ageing effects of radionuclides in radioactive soil on remediation using the electrokinetic method were analyzed. Comparative experiments were conducted for the reactive soil around a TRIGA research? reactor contaminated with $^{137}Cs\;and\;^{60}Co$ for 15 years and the non-reactive soil that was intentionally contaminated with $Cs^+\;and\;Co^{2+}$ for 3 days. It was observed that because of an aging effect on $^{137}Cs$, the efficiency of removing it decreased. $H_{2}SO_4$ used as an additive to increase the removal efficiency showed a higher removal capability than other chemicals for both $^{137}Cs\;and\;^{60}Co$. The efficiency of removing radionuclides from the radioactive soil in the column was proportional to the capability of the added chemical to extract radionuclides. It took 10 days to achieve a $54\%$ removal of $^{137}Cs$ and a $97\%$ removal of $^{60}Co$ from the soil. The volume of the soil wastewater discharged from the soil column by the electrokinetic method was $20\%$ below that for soil washing.

고형오염의 재침착에 영향을 미치는 제인자 (Some Factors Affecting on the Redeposition of Particulate Soil)

  • The removal and redeposition of particulate soil occur simultaneously during the washing process. In order to investigate variables which affect on the redeposition of particulate soil, cotton lawn was soiled in the ion oxide black suspension using Launder-O meter. The amount of deposited soil was estimated by means of the spectrometric analysis of iron on the fabric after soiled. The results are as follows: 1. The presence of surfactants b suspension decreased the deposition of particulate soil and the most effective surfactant was soap and the descending order was NaDBS>CTAB>PONPE. 2. The influnce of temperature on soil deposition was considerable, soil deposition was gradually increased with elevating temperature in ionic surfactants solution such as NaDBS and CTAB but that was decreased above $40^{\circ}C$ in nonionic surfactant solution. 3. The tendency of soil deposition was dwindled by adding electrolytes especially in case of polyvalent anions. 4. From the results of the experiments redeposition of particulate soil was related with suspending power of surfactants and was influenced by factors varing zeta potential.

Protease가 섬유의 손상에 미치는 영향 (An Influence of Protease on Damage of Fiber)

  • Protease is mixtured in detergent to remove protein-soil easily. It must not act on the any fiber except protein-soil during laundry. So the purpose of this study is to investigate how protease is affect the fiber, particulary the protein-fiber. For this purpose, silk, wool and nylon are selected as samples, and the extent of the damage was estimated as tensile strength and surface condition (that is fibrillation). The results are as follows. The tensile strength of fiber treated with protease were lowered at enzyme concentration 0.1%, temperature 4$0^{\circ}C$ , and, as washing time was longer, it was lowered more. And it was showed that the surface of fibers were fiblliated by protease during washing. From this results, it was found that protease damaged protein-fiber. The damage of silk was the largest of all, and wool was less damaged than silk, because it has the scale (cuticle) on the outside. Additionary, an influence of surfactant on damage of fiber was little about three fibers, but, the fibers were damaged more by the binary nonionic-surfactant and protease mixture than by protease only.

Protease (Subtilisin Carlsberg) 가 혈액 단백질 오구의 제거에 미치는 영향(II) -헤모글로빈 오구포의 세척성- (Effect of Pretense (Subtilisin Carlsberg) on the Removal of Blood Protein Soil (II) -The Detergency of Hemoglobin from Cotton Fabics-)

  • The effect of protease (subtilisin Carlsberg) on the removal of hemoglobin as protein soil was studied. The relation between the renloval and the hydrolysis of hemoglobin by subtilisin Carlsberg was discussed. The soiled babric was prepared by spotting of hemoglobin solution evenly on the cotton fabric and was denatured by steaming. The soiled fabric was washed by using Terg-0-Tometer at various conditions. The removal efficiency was evaluated by analysis of protein on the fabrics before and after washing by means of copper-Folin method. 1. The removal of hemoglobin was increased in proportion to increasing of the enzyme concentration up to a certain point, but it began to decrease above the point. 2. The hemoglobin was removed effectively by adding of subtilisin Carlsberg, and more effectively removed by adding of AOS in the enzyme solution. 3. The removal of hemoglobin deviated from the first order reaction in detergency. 4. The renloval of hemoglobin was highest at $50^{\circ}C$ in detergency, Even at low temperature the removal efficiency of enzyme was relatively higher compared with the hydrolysis of hemoglobin by the enzyme. However the removal of hemoglobin was apparently decreased with the increase of temperature over $60^{\circ}C$. 5. The removal of hemoglobin was relatively high at pH 7.0~8.0 and increased continuously with the increase of pH in detergency 6. In detergency, the removal mechanism of hemoglobin by subtilisin Carlsberg could be explained as follows: Fisrt of all, the enzyme hydrolyzed hemoglobin substrates partially by forming E-S complex at the surface of hemoglobin on the cotton fiber, and decomposed cooperative binding of hemoglobin. Subsequently, the fragments of hemoglobin were easily removed by washing. According as the enzyme penetrated to inner part of hemoglobin gradually, the hemoglobin on the cotton fiber was effectively removed by the repetition of these process. The removal of hemoglobin was more effectively increased by adding both the enzyme and AOS in the washing solution. Therefore, it was regarded that AOS molecules were adsorbed at the hydrophobic surface of denatured hemoglobin, subsequently, decomposed more effectively cooperative binding of hemoglobin, and the fragments of hemoglobin were removed more efficiently by means of the interfacial reaction of AOS.

  • 본 연구에서는 유류 오염토양 복원을 위한 효율적인 이동형 연속식 토양세척 장비를 개발하여 현장 적용 가능성을 검토하였다. 진세척조는 내부에 스크류를 설치함으로써 주입되는 오염토양과 세척용액의 기계적 교반에 의한 원활한 접촉과 토양간의 마찰 등으로 인하여 토양으로부터 오염물질의 탈착이 효과적으로 이루어지도록 하였다. 전세척조 외부에 위치한 주세척조는 전세척조에서 탈착된 오염물질과 미세입자를 원 토양으로부터 효율적으로 분리하기 위한 헹굼작용과 배출부에서 미세입자를 포함하는 세척 유출수가 효율적으로 분리 배출이 될 수 있도록 설계.제작하였다. 현장 적용 실험결과, 설계 목표치인 토양 주입 속도 15m$^3$/day, 계면활성제 POE$_{5}$POE$_{14}$의 비 1:1 (농도 0.1%), 세척수/토양 비 (부피/중량비) 1, 전세척조 회전속도 18rpm. 주세척조 회전속도 5rpm의 운전조건에서 90% 이상의 높은 세척효율을 나타내었다.

  • The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of microemulsion on the remediation of soil contaminated with organic materials. The laboratory tests were conducted to confirm the ability of microemulsion as remediation agent and compare remediation efficiency in microemulsion process with soil washing. In the test, pyrene was used as organic contaminant and alkylpolyethoxylates(C$_4$E$_1$) was used as surfactant. Microemulsion in the $C_4$E$_1$-water-decane mixture was formed in the range of 22 and 48$_{o}$ C at surfactant contents V=55%. Extraction was completed within 30 min and about 90% pyrene was removed. Seperation of pyrene with oil phase lowering temperature was sufficient for application in a multistep process.s.

Determination of Monocrotophos Residues by HPLC

  • An analytical method was developed to determine monocrotophos residues in apple, citrus, and soil using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet absorption detection. Monocrotophos was extracted with acetone from apple, citrus and moist soil samples. The extract was concentrated, added with saline water, and subjected to n-hexane washing to remove nonpolar co-extractives. Dichloromethane partition was then followed to recover monocrotophos from the aqueous phase. Silica gel column chromatography was employed to further purify the extract prior to HPLC determination. Reverse-phase HPLC using an oct-adecylsilyl column was successfully applied to separate and quantitate the monocrotophos residue in sample extracts at the wavelength of 230 nm. Overall recoveries of monocrotophos from fortified samples averaged $95.3{\pm}2.1%$ (n=6), $970{\pm}0.7%$ (n=6), and $92.8{\pm}4.3%$ (n=12) for apple, citrus, and soil, respectively. The proposed method was quite reproducible and sensitive enough to replace the troublesome gas-liquid chromatographic analysis for monocrotophos residues.

세척처리에 따른 수삼 표면의 미생물 제어효과 (Reduction of Microbial Populations on the Surface of Fresh Ginseng by Various Washing Treatments)

  • 현재 대부분의 수삼은 흙이 묻은 상태로 유통되고 있는데 소비자의 편이성을 고려하여 수삼을 세척한 후 포장한 상태로 유통시키기 위한 연구의 일환으로 수삼의 세척처리 방법에 따른 표면세척효과 및 미생물 감균 효과를 조사하였다. 수확 직후 수삼의 부위별 생균수는 5.85~6.63 log CFU/ea범위로 뇌두 부위가 가장 많았고 다음으로는 지근과 주근 순이었다. 부위별 곰팡이 수는 3.67~5.12 log CFU/ea범위로 뇌두 부위가 많았으며 주근과 지근은 거의 유사한 수준이었다. 수삼표면을 상압살수, 고압살수 및 솔질 처리를 하였던 바 고압살수처리에 의해 세척도가 증가하고, 표면 미생물을 감소시킬 수 있었으나 그 효과는 솔질처리의 경우보다는 낮았다. 세척한 수삼의 표면 미생물 수를 더 낮추기 위해 부가적으로 에탄올용액, 차아염소산나트륨 용액, 과산화수소용액, 전해산화수, 오존수 및 중온수를 각각 처리하였던 바 전해산화수 처리 시 생균수와 곰팡이 수가 세척한 수삼에 비해 각각 0.79 CFU/ea, 0.51 log CFU/ea 정도 감소하여 다른 처리구에 비하여서는 우수하였으나 처리구간의 통계적인 유의성은 인정되지 않았다.

토양세척용매의 종류 및 농도에 따른 폐금속광산 폐기물내 중금속의 추출특성 (Evaluation on Extractability of Heavy Metals in Mine Tailings of Disused Metal Mines with Concentrations and Kinds of Soil Washing Solutions)

  • 본 연구에서는 폐광산지역에서 발생되는 폐기물인 광미를 대상으로 토양세척공정을 이용하여 다양한 세척용매와 농도, 그리고 추출시간에 따른 중금속의 추출특성을 파악하였다. 세척용매로는 물, HCl(0.1, 0.3, 1.0 N), EDTA(0.01, 0.05, 0.1 M), SDS(0.1, 0.5, 1.0%)를 이용하였다. 그 결과, 물과 SDS 용매에서 Zn과 Cd이 Pb과 Cu보다 높은 추출효율을 보였지만, 전체적으로는 1%이하로 중금속의 추출에 효과적이지 못하였다. 그러나, SDS에서 Pb과 Cu의 추출효율은 추출시간이 길어질수록 증가하였다. HCl과 EDTA를 이용한 중금속의 추출은 물과 SDS보다 빠른 추출경향을 보였고, 대부분의 중금속이 6시간 이내에 추출되었으며 용매의 농도와 무관하였다. 6시간 이후에는 느린 추출경향을 보였지만 세척용매의 농도에 따라 좌우되었다. 또한, 용매의 농도가 증가할수록 추출경향은 빨라졌고, 추출 효율도 증가하였다. 추출효율은 1.0 N HCl에서 Cd>Pb>Zn>Cu로, 0.1M EDTA에서 Pb>Cd>Zn>Cu 순으로 높았다. 농도증가에 따른 추출효과는 HCl에서 Pb이, EDTA에서 Pb과 Cd이 가장 컸으며, 중금속제거를 위한 6시간이상의 추출은 비효과적이었다.

건식세척기술을 이용한 철도 도상자갈 정화 연구 (A Study for Remediation of Railroad Ballast Gravel Using Dry Washing Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 오염된 자갈을 정화하기 위해서 새로운 방식의 건식세척장치를 제작하여 석유계총탄화수소(TPH) 및 산화철의 저감 성능을 알아보았다. 기존 연구에서는 회분식 처리 방식이 적용되었으나, 본 연구에서는 정화 성능 및 처리 효율 향상을 위하여 연속식 처리 방식을 적용하였다. 또한 오염자갈의 전처리를 위하여 건조기 및 선별기를 적용하였다. 본 실험에서는 총 12개의 노즐을 통해 약 $5-6kg/cm^2$의 압력으로 20-30분 동안 연마재를 자갈에 분사하여 석유계총탄화수소(TPH)와 산화철의 저감 성능을 확인하였다. 실험결과 석유계총탄화수소(TPH)와 산화철 모두 약 80-90%의 높은 처리효율을 나타냈다. 본 연구에서는 향후 추가 연구를 통해 정화효율을 높일 수 있는 방법을 제시하고자 한다.
