  • Correct descriptions for software component functions become a strong requirement in developing critical software especially on the area of real-time applications. In this paper, we introduce both formalization of software design using patterns and verification methods in order for the components to increase their understandability. In particular, the paper investigates into a means of formal description techniques based on VDM++ for the software components, and provides adequacy proof steps for a given functional descriptions.

  • In this study, an optimum support design problem is considered to minimize displacement of stacked plates under self weight condition. During the displacement analysis, several kinds of contact arise between the plates themselves and support bar. These can be easily considered if commercial analysis software, which provides capability to solve the contact problem, is used. It is found, however, that the computing time is extraordinarily long due possibly to the generality of the software and also to the ignorance of the control parameters used in the software. In this paper, the contact condition is imposed directly by the authors, while the software is used only to solve the ordinary displacement analysis problem. In this way, the computing time is decreased remarkably by more than 30 times, while yielding the same accurate results. Optimization is conducted based on this efficient analysis method to find minimum number of supporting bars using the response surface algorithm.

  • In the paper, design and implementation results of the reference station software are described for the WA-DGNSS that is currently developed in pseudo-realtime concept. The reference software is designed and implemented by applying the object oriented methodology.

  • Described in this paper is the software to design of a railway interlocking table, which describes the functional specifications of an interlocking device. Interlocking tables has been designed mainly based on personal expertise among signal engineers. However, this expertise needs to be analyzed with technical uniformity and integrated in an organized system. The proposed software is amount to the signal engineer's expertise, yet a generalization of interlocking reasoning. The algorithm is based on the train route setting principle, and is applicable in solving practical problems by computers. The software was evaluated through man-made and machine-made interlocking tables are compared. The evaluation results proves the software to be effective for computer control of the signaling system as interlocking system with a much improved safety.

  • Currently, start of the operation US GPS, the Russian Glonass, European Galileo, the Chinese Compass satellites for positioning are celebrating a true GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) generation. Korea is building advanced infrastructure such as a national network consisting of CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Station), VRS service for real-time precise positioning and perform continuous upgrading. However, the acquisition of geospatial information using the national infrastructure requires many steps and high dependence on foreign software part in this process. This study contributes to advanced construction technology of geospatial information by design of realtime GNSS surveying system. As a results, it has designed the surveying software that can effectively positioning realtime. Designed realtime surveying software can utilized in various fields.

Introducing Software Defined Radio to 4GWireless: Necessity, Advantage, and Impediment

  • This work summarizes the current state of the art in software radio for 4G systems. Specifically, this work demonstrates that classic radio structures, e.g., heterodyne reception, homodyne reception, and their improved implementations, are inadequate selections for multi-mode reception. This opens the door to software defined radio, a novel reception architecture which promises ease in multi-band, multi-protocol design. The work presents the many advantages of such an architecture, including flexibility, reduced cost via component reduction, and improved reliability via, e.g., the elimination of environmental instability. The work also explains the limitations that currently curtail the widespread use of SDR, including issues surrounding A/D converters, management of software and power, and clock generation. This provides direction for future research to enable the broad applicability of SDR in 4G cellular and beyond.

  • Luminance is the most important quantity in lighting design and illuminating engineering. There are three methods for measuring luminance; using a conventional luminance meter, through the illuminance measurement and subsequent calculations and using digital imaging photometer. Recently, HDRI(High Dynamic Range Imaging) technique introduces a new method of capturing luminance values in a lighting environment. The radiance maps from HDRI are commonly used as visual environment maps for lighting analysis applications. For the HDRI, HDR software is needed to create HDR image. Currently, there is number of HDR software available. The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether a luminance map can be accurately captured by the various types of HDR software which include HDR Shop and Photoshop. To accomplish this goal a set of experiments was conducted. In order to assess the luminance values of the HDR image from HDR software, the values had to be compared to the ones obtained with conventional methods of luminance measurement.

  • This paper presents a software design and implementation of software-defined radio based IEEE 802.11ac encoder using Texas Instruments TMS320C6670 digital signal processor (DSP) platform. In this paper, the implemented encoder has the capability of generating all the signals consisting of preamble field and data field under different modulation & coding scheme in the IEEE 802.11ac standard. Moreover, the flexibility in choosing different rate, bandwidth, or mode can also be achieved by software reconfiguration using the DSP. As a result, by utilizing the computing power provided by multi-cores as well as the FFT coprocessors in the DSP, the required maximum throughput 78Mbps can be fully reached within 4 ㎲ for each OFDM symbol in the case of 20MHz bandwidth of IEEE 802.11ac.

  • Software GNSS digitized IF signal simulator is being developed by ETRI as a part of development of software-based GNSS Test & evaluation Facility which will provide test and evaluation environment for various software level application and navigation algorithm in GNSS. Software GNSS IF signal simulator will provide digitized GNSS signal including GPS and Galileo. The requirement analysis and conceptual design for the Software GNSS IF signal simulator is presented in this paper.

  • This article shows how general software-ergonomic principles are successfully applied in the design of user friendly graphical interfaces. A theoretical model(WOB-Model) is derived from empirical studies and validated in the development of several systems. It provides basic principles within a well-balanced framework and leads to concrete design guidelines. The user tests with the software shows that many of the common usability problems can be eliminated.
