During the development of flight software, the processor emulator and satellite simulator are essential tools for software development and verification, which can be substituted for the actual hardware. LEO satellites being developed by KARI recently use the MCM-ERC32SC processor for on-board computer (OBC). For the flight software (FSW) development and testing, the software-based spacecraft simulator was developed using TSIM-ERC32 processor emulator from Aeroflex Gaisler. It is needed to get rid of the constraints and dependencies of TSIM-ERC32 processor emulator and to obtain high performance processor emulator to develop full satellite simulator. This paper presents the development of the ERC32 emulator based on open source dynamic translator, QEMU, as the first step. And it describes the software development and testing/debugging on the developed emulator.

The evolving internet-based services demand high-speed data transmission in conjunction with scalability. The next generation optical network has to exploit artificial intelligence and cognitive techniques to cope with the emerging requirements. This work proposes a novel way to solve the dynamic provisioning problem in optical network. The provisioning in optical network involves the computation of routes and the reservation of wavelenghs (Routing and Wavelength assignment-RWA). This is an extensively studied multi-objective optimization problem and its complexity is known to be NP-Complete. As the exact algorithms incurs more running time, the heuristic based approaches have been widely preferred to solve this problem. Recently the software-defined networking has impacted the way the optical pipes are configured and monitored. This work proposes the dynamic selection of path computation algorithms in response to the changing service requirements and network scenarios. A software-defined controller mechanism with a novel packet matching feature was proposed to dynamically match the traffic demands with the appropriate algorithm. A software-defined controller with Path Computation Element-PCE was created in the ONOS tool. A simulation study was performed with the case study of dynamic path establishment in ONOS-Open Network Operating System based software defined controller environment. A java based NOX controller was configured with a parent path computation element. The child path computation elements were configured with different path computation algorithms under the control of the parent path computation element. The use case of dynamic bulk path creation was considered. The algorithm selection method is compared with the existing single algorithm based method and the results are analyzed.

Fractal image compression algorithm has been studied mostly not in the view of hardware but software. However, a general processor by software can't decode fractal compressed images in real-time. Therefore, it is necessary that we develop a fast dedicated hardware. However, design examples of dedicated hardware are very rare. In this paper, we designed a quadtree fractal-based compressed image decoder which can decode $256{\times}256$ gray-scale images in real-time and used two power-down methods. The first is a hardware-optimized simple post-processing, whose role is to remove block effect appeared after reconstruction, and which is easier to be implemented in hardware than non-2' exponents weighted average method used in conventional software implementation, lessens costs, and accelerates post-processing speed by about 69%. Therefore, we can expect that the method dissipates low power and low energy. The second is to design a power dissipation in the multiplier can be reduced by about 28% with respect to a general array multiplier which is known efficient for low power design in the size of 8 bits or smaller. Using the above two power-down methods, we designed decoder's core block in 3.3V, 1 poly 3 metal, $0.6{\mu}m$ CMOS technology.

This paper describes the performance improvement of Software (SW) digital filter using GPU (Graphical Processing Unit). The previous developed SW digital filter has a problem that it operates on a CPU (Central Processing Unit) basis and has a slow speed. The GPU was introduced to filter the data of the EAVN (East Asian VLBI Network) observation to improve the operation speed and to process data with other stations through filtering, respectively. In order to enhance the computational speed of the SW digital filter, NVIDIA Titan V GPU board with built-in Tensor Core is used. The processing speed of about 0.78 (1Gbps, 16MHz BW, 16-IF) and 1.1 (2Gbps, 32MHz BW, 16-IF) times for the observing time was achieved by filtering the 95 second observation data of 2 Gbps (512 MHz BW, 1-IF), respectively. In addition, 2Gbps data is digitally filtered for the 1 and 2Gbps simultaneously observed with KVN (Korean VLBI Network), and compared with the 1Gbps, we obtained similar values such as cross power spectrum, phase, and SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio). As a result, the effectiveness of developed SW digital filter using GPU in this research was confirmed for utilizing the data processing and analysis. In the future, it is expected that the observation data will be able to be filtered in real time when the distributed processing optimization of source code for using multiple GPU boards.
Purpose : To implement the database system of oral and maxillofacial radiological images using a commercial medical image management software with personally developed classification code. Materials and methods : The image database was built using a slightly modified commercial medical image management software, Dr. Image v.2.1 (Bit Computer Co., Korea). The function of wild card '*' was added to the search function of this program. Diagnosis classification codes were written as the number at the first three digits, and radiographic technique classification codes as the alphabet right after the diagnosis code. 449 radiological films of 218 cases from January, 2000 to December, 2000, which had been specially stored for the demonstration and education at Dept. of OMF Radiology of Dankook University Dental Hospital, were scanned with each patient information. Results: Cases could be efficiently accessed and analyzed by using the classification code. Search and statistics results were easily obtained according to sex, age, disease diagnosis and radiographic technique. Conclusion : Efficient image management was possible with this image database system. Application of this system to other departments or personal image management can be made possible by utilizing the appropriate classification code system.
This paper deals with the performance analysis of three phase induction motor considering its stator side faults and operating thermal limits. The speed control of induction motor using three phase boost converter operated by a MOSFET switch and a PI controller is demonstrated and presented in this article. IGBTs switches are used for inverter drive mechanism. The experimental result of speed control of induction motor using voltage control technique clearly shows better accuracy than conventional methods of speed control. A three phase 1HP 415V 0.78 kW 4 Pole induction motor is designed using motor solver software. Based on the parameters used in the software thermal analysis of induction motor is done and torque variation with conductor area, efficiency, output curve, losses in different parts of motor has been obtained. Also different types of faults namely under voltage, over voltage, stator imbalanced voltage, turn to turn, locked rotor bar, wrong alignment of rotor bar with respect to stator are studied and fault analysis is performed. Hence comparison is made based upon the results obtained before and after faults.
The prediction of thermal effects in lithography projection objective plays a significant role in the real-time dynamic compensation of thermal aberrations. For the illuminated lithography projection objective, this paper applies finite element analysis to get the temperature distribution, surface deformation and stress data. To improve the efficiency, a temperature distribution function model is proposed to use for the simulation of thermal aberrations with the help of optical analysis software CODE V. SigFit is approved integrated optomechanical analysis software with the feature of calculating OPD effects due to temperature change, and it is utilized to prove the validation of the temperature distribution function. Results show that the impact of surface deformation and stress is negligible compared with the refractive index change; astigmatisms and 4-foil aberrations dominate in the thermal aberration, about 1.7 λ and 0.45 λ. The system takes about one hour to reach thermal equilibrium and the contrast of the imaging of dense lines get worse as time goes on.
Partial Discharge (PD) is a physical phenomenon, which causes defects and damages to the insulation. This phenomenon is regarded as the most important source of fault and defect in power transformers. Therefore, methods of high speed and precision are considered of special importance for the maintenance of transformers in localization of the origin of partial discharge. In this paper, the transformer winding is first modeled in a transient state by using RLC ladder network and multiconductor transmission line (MTL) models. The parameters of the two models were calculated by Ansoft Maxwell software, and the simulations were performed by Matlab software. Then, the PD pulses were applied to the models with different widths of pulses. With regard to the fact that the signals received after the application of PD had a variable frequency nature over time, and based on the wavelet transform and signal energy, a new method was presented for the localization of PD. Ultimately; the mentioned method was implemented on a 20 kV winding distribution transformer. Then, the performances of the models used in this paper, including RLC and MTL models, were compared in different frequency bands for the correct distinction of partial discharge location.
Product Line Engineering (PLE) has been widely accepted as a representative software reuse methodology by using core assets. Product line architecture (PLA) is a key element of core assets. However, current research works on designing PLA do not provide sufficient and detailed guidelines of defining PLA and reflecting variability in the architecture. In this paper, we present a reference model of PLA and propose a process to design PLA with detailed instructions. Especially architectural variability is codified by describing decision model depending variation points and traced through PLA activities. The proposed process would make it feasible to apply PLE to practice areas.
In the current study, a method for concrete compressive strength prediction (based on cement strength class), incorporated in a software package developed by the authors for the estimation of concrete service life under harmful environments, is presented and validated. Prediction of concrete compressive strength, prior to real experimentation, can be a very useful tool for a first mix screening. Given the fact that lower limitations in strength have been set in standards, to attain a minimum of service life, a strength approach is a necessity. Furthermore, considering the number of theoretical attempts on strength predictions so far, it can be seen that although they lack widespread accepted validity, certain empirical expressions are still widely used. The method elaborated in this study, it offers a simple and accurate, compressive strength estimation, in very good agreement with experimental results. A modified version of the Feret's formula is used, since it contains only one adjustable parameter, predicted by knowing the cement strength class. The approach presented in this study can be applied on any cement type, including active additions (fly ash, silica fume) and age.
