An interface system was developed to offer the welding capability to a robot controller which had not any embedded function for arc welding before, and also an arc sensor algorithm was proposed for weld seam tracking of the welding robot. For the interface system between the robot controller and welding equipments, data communication software and interface connections were composed. The interface system was mae to correspond welding condition, correction data, operation sequence and current status with the robot controller by mutual had shaking and digital signal transfer. Graphic user interface program developed under the environment of windows made it easy to monitor data communication and operation status, and to control welding and sensing sequence. Arc sensing algorithm proposed in this study to compensate torch position error was based on a fuzzy logic with the variables of current difference and current differenced change at torch weaving extremities. The developed interface system could be successfully implemented in between welding equipments and the robot controller, and showed normal status and exact function in data and signal communication between the systems. The whole robot welding system was then examined to verify its welding and seam tracking capabilities in horizontal fillet, vertical fillet, and 3-dimensional fillet weldment. The experiments revealed sound weld bead shapes and also good seam tracing results.
Heliostat in the tower type solar thermal power plant is a sun tracking mirror system to reflect the solar energy to the receiver and the optical performance of it affects to the efficiency of whole power plant most significantly. Thus a proper design of structure of the heliostat reflective surface could be the most important step in the construction of such power plant. The work presented here is a design of structure of optical surface of heliostat, which will be used in 200kW solar thermal power plant. The receiver located at 43(m) high from ground in tower has $2{\times}2$(m) rectangular shape. We first developed the software tool to simulate the energy concentration characteristics of heliostat using the ray tracing technique. Then, the shape of heliostat reflective surface is designed with the consideration of heliostat's energy concentration characteristics, production cost and productivity. The designed heliostat's reflective surface has a structure formed by canting four of $1{\times}1$(m) rectangular flat plate mirror facet and the center of each mirror facet is located on the spherical surface, where the spherical surface is formulated by the mirror facet mounting frame.

Micro-LEDs can be applied to various parts of a product. However, it has disadvantages compared to general LEDs in large displays such as low efficiency, intensity, and contrast ratio, among others, owing to their short history of study. The simulations were carried out using ray-tracing software to investigate the change in light intensity and light distribution according to pattern shapes on the sapphire substrate of the flip-chip micro-LED (FC μ-LED) array. Three patterns-concave square patterns, convex square patterns, and Ag coated convex patterns-which existed on the opposite side of FC μ-LEDs (115 ㎛ × 115 ㎛) array, were applied. The intensity of FC μ-LEDs on the center of the receivers depends on the pattern depth with shape. The concave square patterns having FC μ-LEDs arrays show that decreasing intensity as the patterns depth. On the contrary, the convex square patterns having FC μ-LEDs arrays shows that increasing intensity as the patterns depth. In addition, the highest intensity shows that FC μ-LEDs having Ag-coated convex patterns on the opposite side of sapphire lead to a reduction in light crosstalk owing to the Ag film.

In this paper, we propose a novel method for real-time lane detection that is robust for inclined roads and not require a camera parameter, the Inverse Perspective Transform of the image, and the proposed lane filter. After finding the vanishing point from the start frame of the image and storing the region surrounding the vanishing point as the Template Area(TA), our method predict the lanes by scanning toward the lower part from the vanishing point of the image and obtain the image removed the perspective effect using the Inverse Perspective Transform coefficients extracted based on the predicted lanes. To robustly determine lanes on inclined roads, the region surrounding the vanishing point is set up as the template area (TA), and, by recalculating the vanishing point by tracing the area similar to the TA (SA) in the input image through template matching, it responds to the changes on the road conditions. The proposed method for a more robust lane detection method for inclined roads is a lane detection method by applying a lane detection filter on an image removed of the perspective effect. Through this method, the processing region is reduced and the processing procedure is simplified to produce a satisfactory lane detection result of about 40 frames per second.
Biomimetc is a new domain of learning that proposes a solution getting clues from nature. There seems to be a sign of this phenomenon in fields of Renewable Energy. Foe example, Wind power was imitate the whale's fin that was improve efficiency of generating energy. This study focused on the photovoltaic generation as the instance of applying biomimetic. Efficiency is the most important factor in field of Photovoltaic generation. When given solar cell taking the sun light, most important fields of the study are absorb more light and increase the quantity of generation. For improving efficiency, the solar cell were builded up textures of taking a pyramid form, such a surface structure taking a role for remaining the light. This effects do the role as increasing absorbing efficiency. Such phenomenon calls Light Trapping, locking up the light on the surface of solar cell for a long time. Light is a vital factor to plants in the nature. Plants grow up through the photosynthesis that absorbing light for growth and propagation. So, plants make a effort how can absorb more the light in poor surroundings. This study set up a goal that imitates the minute surface structure of plants and applies to the existing solar cells's surface structure, so it can improve the efficiency of absorbing light. We used Light Tools software analyzing geometrical optics to analyze efficiency about new designed textures on the computer. We made a comparison between existing textures and new designed textures. Consequently, new designed textures were advanced efficiency, absorbing rates of light increasing about 7 percent. In comparison with existing and new textures, advancing about 20 percent in the efficient aspect.
As shear-warp volume rendering is the fastest rendering method among the software based approaches, image quality is not good as that of other high-quality rendering methods. In this paper, we propose two methods to improve the image quality of shear-warp volume rendering without sacrificing computational efficiency. First, supersampling is performed in intermediate image space. We propose an efficient method to transform between volume and image coordinates at the arbitrary ratio. Second, we utilize pre-integrated rendering technique for shear-warp rendering. We propose new data structure called overlapped min-max map. Using this structure, empty space leaping can be performed so that we can maintain the rendering speed even though pre-integrated rendering is applied. Consequently, shear-warp rendering can generate high-qualify images comparable to those generated by the ray-casting without degrading speed.
Location Based Service(LBS) system is widely used in Car Navigation Service(CNS), position tracing, tour guide, etc. Recently, the development of a mobile hardware enables us to run various application of software on small handset. Although CNS systems are widely used on personal computer, PDA and embedded machines, small display system of a mobile handset still constrains to make it difficult to developed route visualization and navigation system. In this paper, we propose a new route map visualization system on mobile handset environment for LBS system. We use modified line simplification algorithm that removes extraneous information and places more emphasis on the turning point. We also adopted level of detail route visualization technique for visualization of a detail map. This system improved turn-by-turn method and line drive system, which are widely adopted by current route visualization system.
Application loading speed can be improved by timely prefetching disk blocks likely to be needed by an application. However, existing prefetchers -- if they are not specialized to a particular application -- incur high overheads and are poor at identifying the blocks that will actually be required. There are many sequences in which blocks may be needed and, even if two access sequences are identical, block tracing and access timings can be affected significantly by the state of the buffer cache. We propose a new application-independent software-based prefetching technique, in which breakpoints are inserted at appropriate places in an application to collect the information on correlations between the blocks and to prefetch the potential blocks ahead of their schedule based on it. Experiments on an HDD-based desktop PC demonstrated an average 30% reduction in application launch time and 15% in general I/O, while reducing the wasted overhead.
Recently, several approaches are proposed to support developing Self-Adaptive System. However, they do not provide the way to accept interaction between requirements and architecture. It makes difficult to judge the impact of changing requirements, handle quickly, and understand adaptation process for stakeholder. To overcome above problems, this paper suggests the interweaving method for providing traceability based on the relationship between requirements and architecture. This traceability allows tracing the impact of changing requirements, and it provides the rationale of architectural decision for advanced degree of understanding. Example shows the usefulness through developing process and changing process on Smart Grid domain.
We present a design and optical simulation of a cost-effective hybrid daylighting/LED system composed of mixing sunlight and light-emitting diode (LED) illumination powered by renewable solar energy for indoor lighting. In this approach, the sunlight collected by the concentrator is split into visible and non-visible rays by a beam splitter. The proposed sunlight collector consists of a Fresnel lens array. The non-visible rays are absorbed by the solar photovoltaic devices to provide electrical power for the LEDs. The visible rays passing through the beam splitters are coupled to a stepped thickness waveguide (STW) by tilted mirrors and confined by total internal reflection (TIR). LEDs are integrated at the end of the STW to improve the lighting quality. LEDs’ light and sunlight are mixed in the waveguide and they are coupled into an optical fiber bundle for indoor illumination. An optical sensor and lighting control system are used to control the LED light flow to ensure that the total output flux for indoor lighting is a fixed value when the sunlight is inadequate. The daylighting capacity was modeled and simulated with a commercial ray tracing software (LighttoolsTM). Results show that the system can achieve 63.8% optical efficiency at geometrical concentration ratio of 630. A required accuracy of sun tracking system achieved more than ±0.5o . Therefore, our results provide an important breakthrough for the commercialization of large scale optical fiber daylighting systems that are faced with challenges related to high costs.
