  • We performed the research and education programs using engineering tools such as Mathematica, Microsoft Excel and GeoGebra for the students in mathematics mentorship program of the institute of science education for the gifted. We used the engineering tools to solve the problems and found the rules by observing the solutions. Then we generalized the rules to theorems by proving the rules. Mathematica, the professional mathematical computation program, was used to calculate and find the length of the repeating portion of the repeating decimal. Microsoft Excel, the spreadsheet software, was used to investigate the Beatty sequences. Also GeoGebra, the dynamic geometric software, was used to investigate the Voronoi diagram and develop the Voronoi game. Using GeoGebra, we designed the Voronoi game plate for the game. In this program, using engineering tools improved the mathematical creativity and the logical thinking of the gifted students in mathematics mentorship program.

  • Software tools for manual 3D projection mapping have been widely used in theme parks and exhibitions. However, no research has been conducted on detailed utilization methods and usability of those tools yet. This study organizes the entire process of manual 3D projection mapping step by step and analyzes the problems that occurred at each step to identify potential improvements of 3D projection mapping tools. First, we introduce the process, which includes: two methods for creating virtual-physical object pairs to construct a virtual environment that is identical to the real-world target of the 3D projection mapping, the production of video textures for special effects, and mapping methods that use semi-automatic projector calibration. In addition, through experiments comparing and analyzing two widely used tools under various conditions for 3D mapping, we identified the technical limitations, performance differences between tools, and issues that impede usability. Finally, we suggest improvements and future research directions to enhance the usability of the 3D projection mapping technology.

  • Increased use of software and complexity of software functions, as well as shortened software quality evaluation periods, have increased the importance and necessity for automation of software testing. Automating software testing by using machine learning not only minimizes errors in manual testing, but also allows a speedier evaluation. Research on machine learning in automated software testing has so far focused on solving special problems with algorithms, leading to difficulties for the software developers and testers, in applying machine learning to software testing automation. This paper, proposes a new machine learning framework for software testing automation through related studies. To maximize the performance of software testing, we analyzed and categorized the machine learning algorithms applicable to each software test phase, including the diverse data that can be used in the algorithms. We believe that our framework allows software developers or testers to choose a machine learning algorithm suitable for their purpose.

  • Although the goals of HL7 Version 2(V2) and Version 3(V3) are identical, the concepts of the implementation and technological basis are different; this makes their versions inconvertible. This problem interrupts technological innovation advanced from V2 to V3 and has been raised as a new type of barrier in the field of medical information system. This study intends to develop software to convert V2 to V3 which can be utilized in the actual medical environment. Since it is practically difficult to develop the whole tools that automatically change total V2 messages into V3 messages, this article has designed, implemented, and tested the software that allows mapping between V2 and V3 which function as tools. In order to test this program, it has used ADT^A03 of five V2 messages to generate V3 messages. It is expected that the result of this research will be one of the new methods allowing conversion between V2 and V3.

  • The energy efficient design of the multiple stock housing is very important not only to save energy but also to increase sustainability in a whole city because the multiple stock housing type is dominated in the major residential supply markets in Korea. During the early design phase of the multiple stock housing type, the architect need convenient and accurate tools for evaluating energy consumptions based on building types rapidly. Building Information Modeling(BIM) is introduced as useful tool systems providing interoperability between 3rd dimensional modeling tools and environmental engineering analysis tools, and could reduce time and cost for unnecessary modeling works in the analysis. However, it is still hard to apply to building design practice and integrated energy simulation techniques because interoperability using industrial standard file formats such as IFC and bXML is still underdeveloped. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to perform the building energy simulations, to compare the results on typical building types in multiple stock housing based on BIM, and to clear the problems using industrial standard file formats between 3rd dimensional modeling and building energy simulation software. In addition, through comparisons with simulation results according to the typical building types such as building forms, orientations, and building stories, the interrelation ship and characteristics of BIM based building energy simulation software are analysed and evaluated.

  • In the product design process computer-aided engineering and optimization tools are widely utilized in order to reduce the total development time and cost. Since several simulation tools are involved in the process, information losses, omissions, or errors are common and the importance of seamless information exchange among the tools has been increased. In this study ISO STEP standards are adopted to represent the neutral format for CAE/CAO information exchange. The schema of AP209 is used to define the information of finite element analysis and the new schema is proposed to describe the information of structural optimization based on the STEP methodology. The schema is implemented by EXPRESS, information modeling language, and ST-Developer is employed to generate C++ classes and STEP Rose Library by using the schema denoted. To substantiate the proposed approach, the information access interfaces of the finite element modeling software (FEMAP), structural optimization software (GENESIS) and in-house topology optimization program are developed. Examples of the size optimization of a three-bar truss and topology optimization of a MBB beam are shown to validate the information exchange of finite element analysis and structural optimization using STEP standards.

  • Educational tools for infants and younger students are becoming smarter as ICT-based digital technology convergence extends according to the development of technology. As the digital interaction function of smart education tools gives students greater immersion and fun, a learning might become a play to the students. The technologies used in the implementation of smart education tools come from the disciplines of robotics, computer engineering, programming, and engineering and mathematical foundations and these can be integrated into the field of education itself. This paper designs and implements a product based on optimized physical computing for R&D and education in consideration of the characteristics of educational tool robots used in the field education. It was developed to enable physical education for sensing information processing, software design and programming practice training that is the basis of robot system.

  • This paper presents a programming environment for the edition and verification of specification language SDL. It is implemented in the Concerto software factory, which has been as a support for the development of real size software. Concerto is a software factory designed for application development in the fields of computer communication protocols or real time system. It offers various kinds of tools to produce software, organize this production and automate it. Concerto allows a smooth integration of various formalism such as the C and $C^{++}$, languages, structured documentation, HOOD methodology (Hierarchical Object Orient Design). In this paper, as an important tools in the process of communication protocol software development, we describe fist describe the principles of this environment, then we illustrate its application by means of a simple example, the Inres protocol. Moreover, we study how hypertext mechanism of Concert to create logical links between a protocol and its asscoiated service.

  • This paper provides a way to overcome limitations of general collaborative software development tools that completely restrict co-ownership of resources among individuals in a team oriented developmental environment. It also provides a solution for users to co-own resources and at the same time manage version control and collision problems that may occur due to the co-ownership of resources. The cooperative development support tool of developed software uses the conventional optimistic technique but employs the algorithm which is improved to reduce costs and efforts required for solving collision. The collaborative software development tool presented in this paper is made up of the classical client/server structure with the P2P(peer to peer) method which supports information exchange among individuals. This tool is developed based on open source software CVS(Concurrent Version System). Functional efficiency was confirmed by comparing it to the utility of prior existing collaborative software development tools.

  • Software testing is the process of analyzing a software item to detect the differences between existing and required conditions and to evaluate the features of the software item. A traditional testing focuses on proper functionality, not security testing. Fuzzing is a one of many software testing techniques and security testing. Fuzzing methodology has advantage that low-cost, efficiency and so on. But fuzzing has defects such as intervening experts. Also, if there is no specification, fuzzing is impossible. ROAD Tool is automated testing tool for RPC(Remote Procedure Call) based protocol and software without specification. Existing tools are semi-automated. Therefore we must modify these tools. In this paper, we design and implement ROAD tool. Also we verify utility in testing results.
