  • These days open source softwares are being introduced and applied in many countries in the world. Especially, both government and private companies tend to become an spearhead in vitalizing the open source software. In this paper we try to check the degree of vitalizations in open source GIS software and to draw implications in vitalizing ecosystem of open source GIS software. Key players of open source GIS software ecosystem are government, private companies, academic and research institutes, and nonprofit foundations. Government does not have very little policies related to the investment and the support of open source GIS software. Private companies related to the open source GIS software are very few in the number and do not have any clear business model to make a profit. Academic and research institutes are weak in using the open source GIS software, which can be an major obstacle to cultivate software developers. OSGeo Korean branch, established in 2009, is the only nonprofit foundation in Korea which makes an effort to vitalize the open source GIS software, but its results are not very strong up to now in view of both quality and invigoration. In order to vitalize the open source GIS software ecosystem, lots of efforts of key players are needed. Especially, government efforts are very important because it can provide a trigger in vitalizing the open source GIS software ecosystem. The tasks that government should propel are R&D investment, test bed projects in the area of public sector, professional manpower training, and international cooperation and marketing.

  • Today, Software as a Service(SaaS) is being recognized as a key means to enable the innovation of software distribution. Despite the increase in the interest in SaaS, individuals as well as businesses are not yet making an extensive use of it. This research is aimed at identifying and analyzing the antecedents of intentions to use SaaS. We proposed a research model to predict an individual's intention to use SaaS based on the Technology Acceptance Model(TAM). To this end, we conducted a questionnaire survey in which actual software users participated. An empirical analysis has been performed to test the reliability and validity and the hypotheses using SPSS and AMOS software packages. The results of the analysis revealed that functionality, interoperability and economic benefits have positive effects on the intention to use SaaS, while system quality has no significant effect on the behavioral intention. We discussed practical as well as academic implications, and provided research directions.

  • OSS(Open source software) pursues the freedom to have access to open source and offers several advantages, over the proprietary software, to enterprises. Based upon Rogers(1995)' innovation-diffusion process, we assume that attributes of innovations includes five characteristics of innovations: relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and observability, and that firms' perceptions of these characteristics predict the rate of adoption of OSS. To test this hypothesis, we presents a survey result from 201 companies and institutions concerning the use of OSS. Statistical analysis shows that adoption is highly correlated with each of those characteristics of innovations, but the regression analysis indicates that only compatibility and observability have effects on the adoption of OSS. This implies that intrinsic value of OSS is important, but unless the appropriate service package for improving IT environment is provided, it is not easy to change the perspective of corporate customers more favorable toward OSS use. As a conclusion, the academic and practical implications are also discussed.

  • The government has strengthened the system of restricting participation of large corporations to limit participation in national information system construction projects and to increase participation of SME software companies. This study analyzes the financial performances of small and medium sized IT firms in Korea three years prior and 3 years after the restrictions on participation of large firm. A sample of 121 small and medium-sized IT services firms were classified into 3 groups and statistical techniques (T-test and one-way ANOVA) were used for the purpose of the analysis. In the three years after the restriction of participation of large corporations, the total assets and sales of the medium and small IT service firms were positive, but the operating profit and net profit were negative. There were many worries about the introduction of the restriction on the participation of large corporations, but many were stabilized. However, the negative impact was more pronounced for SMEs. Therefore, the reduction effect of SME IT service companies is different from the first legislative purpose of enforcing the restriction system of large enterprises, so we propose to revise the policy.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a new equipment acceptance model in the industrial market and test it empirically using a field survey. To define new equipment acceptance factors of employees in the organization, we used the TAM as a useful model to analyze the acceptance process of new equipment. All of the data for the TAM were collected from the employees. Prior research studied the usage of general information technology using a computer and particular software, while we apply the TAM to the new equipment adoption. In this study, both theoretical review and empirical study were conducted and the model was set through the theoretical study which was tested through the empirical analysis. Management support and training/education were shown to have a positive effect on PU and PEOU. Personal innovativeness, management support, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use were shown to have a positive effect on behavioral intention.

  • Attack on Cloud Computing, an intensive service solution using network infrastructure recently released, generates service breakdown or intrusive incidents incapacitating developmental platforms, web-based software, or resource services. Therefore, it is needed to conduct research on security for the operational information of three kinds of services (3S': laaS, PaaS, SaaS) supported by the Cloud Computing system and also generated data from the illegal attack on service blocking. This paper aims to build a system providing optimal services as a 4-stage defensive method through the test on the attack and defense of Cloud Computing services. It is a defense policy that conducts 4-stage, orderly and phased access control as follows: controlling the initial access to the network, controlling virtualization services, classifying services for support, and selecting multiple routes. By dispersing the attacks and also monitoring and analyzing to control the access by stage, this study performs defense policy realization and analysis and tests defenses by the types of attack. The research findings will be provided as practical foundational data to realize Cloud Computing service-based defense policy.

  • This study aimed to investigate the effect of communication competence on the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem among nursing students. The study is a cross-sectional survey and the participants were 173 students from one university located in M city. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression and Sobel test to test the significance of a mediation effect using SPSS 21 software. Results of the multiple regression were that communication competence had a significant positive effect on self-esteem and played a partially mediating role between emotional intelligence and self-esteem in nursing students. These findings imply that communication competence is important to improve the level of self-esteem in nursing students. This study highlights the value of fostering communication competence and the need to develop various convergence education strategies to promote communication competence in a balanced way to cultivate nursing students' self-esteem.

  • Machine translation refers to software that translates a source language into a target language, and has been actively researching Neural Machine Translation through rule-based and statistical-based machine translation. One of the important factors in the Neural Machine Translation is to extract high quality parallel corpus, which has not been easy to find high quality parallel corpus of Korean language pairs. Recently, the AI HUB of the National Information Society Agency(NIA) unveiled a high-quality 1.6 million sentences Korean-English parallel corpus. This paper attempts to verify the quality of each data through performance comparison with the data published by AI Hub and OpenSubtitles, the most popular Korean-English parallel corpus. As test data, objectivity was secured by using test set published by IWSLT, official test set for Korean-English machine translation. Experimental results show better performance than the existing papers tested with the same test set, and this shows the importance of high quality data.

  • In this paper, we compared the performance of "Network Intrusion Detection System based on attack feature selection using fuzzy control language"[1] and "Intelligent Intrusion Detection System Model for attack classification using RNN"[2]. In this paper, we compare the intrusion detection performance of two techniques using KDD CUP 99 dataset. The KDD 99 dataset contains data sets for training and test data sets that can detect existing intrusions through training. There are also data that can test whether training data and the types of intrusions that are not present in the test data can be detected. We compared two papers showing good intrusion detection performance in training and test data. In the comparative paper, there is a lack of performance to detect intrusions that exist but have no existing intrusion detection capability. Among the attack types, DoS, Probe, and R2L have high detection rate using fuzzy and U2L has a high detection rate using RNN.
