  • In this paper, design and development experiences of a vision based robotic assembly system for electronic components are described. Specifically, the overall system consists of the following three subsystems each of which employs a 16 bit Preprocessor MC 68000 : supervisory controller, real-time vision system, and servo system. The three microprocessors are interconnected using the time shared common memory bus structure with hardwired bus arbitration scheme and operated as a master-slave type in which each slave is functionally fixed in view of software. With this system architecture, the followings are developed and implemented in this research; (i) the system programming language, called 'CLRC', for man-machine interface including the robot motion and vision primitives, (ii) real-time vision system using hardwired chain coder, (iii) the high-precision servo techniques for high speed de motors and high speed stepping motors. The proposed control system were implemented and tested in real-time successfully.

  • In this thesis, a three degrees of freedom robot, which is able to provide sufficient precision for various robot researches, has been developed. The cable mechanism is used as a basic transmission of robot joints. Based on an optimal design strategy, link and joint parameters are determined and then overall geometry of the robot is designed. As an architecture of robot control, real time control system using real time linux and RtiC-Lab(Real Time Controls Laboratory) is developed. This system, written in C and based on Linux O/S, includes text editor, compiler, downloader, and real time plotter running in host computer for developing control purpose. Using these hardware and software, simple PD position control is implemented, the results shows the effectiveness of the system.

  • Recently, various kinds of computers with architecture different from the usual type of Neumann and Data flow machine have been studied for inproving computational speed. Among them, Feed Forward Computer(F.F.C.) has been remarkably developed. F.F.C. is a computer different from usual digital one in operating system. The usual computer executes operation and operand Fetch after executing instruction fetch and instruction decode. But conceptually, F.F.C. excutes instruction fetch, instruction decode operand fetch and combinational execution simultaneously. Accordingly, a suitable software is needed to operate high reliability and efficiency of this F.F.C. system. In this study, I aim at developing characteristics on highly reliable computer system which should be a blueprint of F.F.C. system in the future.

  • The lowest critical value of the compressive force acting in the plane of symmetrically laminated quasi-isotropic thin rectangular plates is investigated. The critical buckling loads of plates with different types of lamination and aspect ratios are parametrically calculated. Finite Differences Method (FDM) and Galerkin Method are used to solve the governing differential equation for Classical Laminated Plate Theory (CLPT). The results calculated are compared with those obtained by the software ANSYS employing Finite Elements Method (FEM). The results of Galerkin Method (GM) are closer to FEM results than those of FDM. In this study, the primary aim is to conduct a parametrical performance analysis of proper plates that is typically conducted at preliminary structural design stage of composite vessels. Non-dimensional values of critical buckling loads are also provided for practical use for designers.

  • Implementation of memristor-based multilayer neural networks and their hardware-based learning architecture is investigated in this paper. Two major functions of neural networks which should be embedded in synapses are programmable memory and analog multiplication. "Memristor", which is a newly developed device, has two such major functions in it. In this paper, multilayer neural networks are implemented with memristors. A Random Weight Change algorithm is adopted and implemented in circuits for its learning. Its hardware-based learning on neural networks is two orders faster than its software counterpart.

  • As interest in green building has increased, construction market has evolved through BIM-based architecture also, BIM-based technologies have been developed simultaneously. Due to this aspect, the need of environmental analysis software utilizing BIM data became essential. This study shows that BIM-based integrated module provides objective analysis to proceed quick decision-making for a proposal. In addition to that, this integrated module creates a model through BIM data to analyze and report residential environment and energy consumption such as, daylight, view, ventilation and privacy in order to practically apply the BIM technology from the schematic design.

  • Safety requirements for aircraft and system functions include minimum performance constraints for both availability and integrity of the function. These safety requirements should be determined by conducting a safety assessment. The depths and contents of aircraft system safety assessment vary depending on factors such as the complexity of the system, how critical the system is to flight safety, what volume of experience is available on the type of system and the novelty and complexity of the technologies being used. Requirements that are defined to prevent failure conditions or to provide safety related functions should be uniquely identified and traceable through the levels of development. This will ensure visibility of the safety requirements at the software and electronic hardware design level. This paper has prepared to study on promoting the efficiency of establishing hierarchical safety requirements from aircraft level function to item level through system safety processes.

  • OPC has made it to improve the development of control and monitoring software. But it is difficult to understand COM/DCOM model that is a base technology of OPC and complex communication setting between OPC Server and OPC Client. Therefore, in this paper, we design and implement ActiveX based components that are enable to solve these problems. Implemented components provide a method for simple communication between OPC Server and OPC Client and a GUI environment for easy and fast setting of communication information. Also, they provide the architecture for efficient management of OPC Server's data. By using implemented component, easy development and efficient maintenance of OPC Client can be supported.
