  • This paper compares three kinds of soft-switching circuits from viewpoints of surge suppression, load characteristic, and power efficiency for a tapped-inductor buck converter with low voltage and high current. As a result, these soft-switching techniques have achieved much higher efficiency of $80\%$ when compared with a hard-switching buck converter for the output condition of 1V and 20A.

  • In this paper, a soft-switching discontinuous mode (DCM) power factor corrected (PFC) converter is analyzed by applying the double Fourier series expansion. It is found that the fundamental component and higher-order harmonics included in the input current waveform are obtained by the Fourier series expansion of the mean value of the inductor current. From the theoretical analysis, a new method removing the distortion of the input current waveform is proposed. In spite of an open loop system, the proposed method makes a great improvement of the total harmonic distortion even if the ratio of output voltage to input voltage is very low.

  • Generation system using regenerative energy like photovoltaic, fuelcell is increased, PCS technology coming into the spotlight. The efficiency of DC-DC converter as part of the PCS is very important, multi-phase boost converter has more advantage than other topology. Input current of the multi-phase boost converter is divided into two inductor current because of parallel structure of the boost converters, thus it has features of decreasing input current ripple and output voltage ripple. Also multi-phase boost converter with soft switching can decrease switching loss using ZCS and ZVS. In this paper, simulation and experiment are performed to verify operation of the proposed converter, and efficiencies of the conventional and proposed converter are compared.

  • Recently, power supplies with low voltage/high current output are widely used, but conventional power supplies have large power loss, and thus the system efficiency is low. However their control technique is complicated and their elements are many. In this paper, Implementation of High Efficiency Soft-switching Flyback Converter is presented. The proposed converter has been implemented to verify the proposed topology with 5V/20A prototype and theoretical operation under various load condition and universal input voltage range.

  • In this work, first, a multiuser detection (MUD) algorithm based on component-level soft interference cancellation and linear minimum mean square error (CLSIC-LMMSE) is proposed, which can enhance the bit error ratio (BER) performance of the traditional SIC-LMMSE-based MUD by mitigating error propagation. Second, for non-binary low density parity check (NB-LDPC) coded high-order modulation systems, when the proposed algorithm is integrated with partial mapping, the receiver with iterative detection and decoding (IDD) achieves not only better BER performance but also significantly computational complexity reduction over the traditional SIC-LMMSE-based IDD scheme. Extrinsic information transfer chart (EXIT) analysis and numerical simulations are both used to support the conclusions.

  • A new soft switching single stage AC-DC full bridge boost converter with unit input power factor and isolated output is presented in this paper. Due to the use of a non-dissipative snubber on the primary side, a single stage high-power factor isolated full bridge boost converter has a significant reduction of switching losses in the main switching devices. The non-dissipative snubber adopted in this study consists of a snubber capacitor Cr, a snubber inductor Lr, a fast recovery snubber diode Dr, and a commutation diode Dr, and a commutation diode Dp. This paper presents the complete operating principles, theoretical analysis and experimental results.

  • An interleaved current-fed high step-up DC-DC converter is proposed. Besides high voltage gain, a low ripple input current is achieved by adopting interleaving operation. Moreover, soft-switching characteristic of the proposed converter reduces switching losses of active power switches and raise the conversion efficiency. The reverse-recovery problem of output rectifiers is also alleviated by controlling the current changing rates of diodes by utilizing the leakage inductances of transformers. Experimental results obtained on a 200W prototype are discussed.

  • This paper presents a novel Power Factor Corrected(PFC) single-stage AC/DC Half-Bridge converter, which features discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) and soft-switching. The reduced conduction losses are achieved by the employment of a novel power factor correction circuitry, instead of the conventional configuration composed of a front-end rectifier followed by a boost converter. To identify the validity of the proposed converter, simulated results of 500[W] converter with 100[V] input voltage and 50[V] output voltage are presented.
