  • Objective: The aim of this study is to describe several issues which should be considered in the human reliability analysis of soft control operations in nuclear power plants. Background: The operational environment of advanced main control rooms is totally different from that of conventional control rooms. The soft control is one of the major distinguishable features of the advanced main control rooms. The soft control operations should be analyzed to estimate the effects on human reliability. Method: The literatures, about task analysis, simulation data analysis, and a human reliability analysis method for the soft control, were reviewed. From the review, important issues for the human reliability analysis of the soft control were raised. Results: The results of task and simulation data analysis showed that the soft control characteristics could have large effect on human reliability and they should be considered in the human reliability analysis of the soft control operations. Conclusion: The soft control may affect human error and performance of operators. The issues described in this paper should be considered in the human reliability method for the advanced main control rooms. Application: The results of the soft control operation analysis might help to design more efficient interface and education/training program for preventing human errors. The described issues might help to develop a human reliability analysis method for soft control operations.

  • Application of network coding in wireless two-way relay channels (TWRC) has received much attention recently because its ability to improve throughput significantly. In traditional designs, network coding operates at upper layers above (including) the link layer and it requires the input packets to be correctly decoded. However, this requirement may limit the performance and application of network coding due to the unavoidable fading and noise in wireless networks. In this paper, we propose a new wireless network coding scheme for TWRC, which is referred to as soft network coding (SoftNC), where the relay nodes applies symbol-by-symbol soft decisions on the received signals from the two end nodes to come up with the network coded information to be forwarded. We do not assume further channel coding on top of SoftNC at the relay node (channel coding is assumed at the end nodes). According to measures of the soft information adopted, two kinds of SoftNC are proposed: amplify-and-forward SoftNC (AF-SoftNC) and soft-bit-forward SoftNC (SBF-SoftNC). We analyze the both the ergodic capacity and the outage capacity of the two SoftNC schemes. Specifically, analytical form approximations of the ergodic capacity and the outage capacity of the two schemes are given and validated. Numerical simulation shows that our SoftNC schemes can outperform the traditional network coding based two-way relay protocol, where channel decoding and re-encoding are used at the relay node. Notable is the fact that performance improvement is achieved using only simple symbol-level operations at the relay node.

  • In this paper, we study more general version of the paper [J. H. Lee, I. S. Kong, H. S. Kim and J. U. Jung, Generalized int-soft subsemigroups, Ann. Fuzzy Math. Inform. 8(6) (2014) 869-887]. We introduce the notion of int-soft semigroup with two thresholds ${\varepsilon}$ and ${\delta}$ (briefly, (${\varepsilon}$, ${\delta}$)-int-soft semigroup) of a semigroup S, and investigate several related properties.

  • Molodtsov introduced the concept of soft sets, which can be seen as a new mathematical tool for dealing with uncertainty. In this paper, we initiate the study of soft BL-algebras by using the soft set theory. The notion of filteristic soft BL-algebras is introduced and some related properties are investigated.

  • The notion of double-framed soft filters of a CI-algebra is introduced, and related properties are investigated. Further characterization of a double-framed soft filter is considered, and conditions for a double-framed soft set to be a double-framed soft filter are provided. Finally a new double-framed soft filter from old one is established.

  • The present study investigates acoustic cues of russian soft plosive consonants. In previous studies, russian soft consonants are distinguished from hard consonants by F1, F2 of following vowels. The result showed: (1) that F0 of soft plosive consonants in following vowels were lower than those of hard plosive consonants; (2) and that VOT of soft plosive consonants were longer than those of hard plosive consonants. Hence, the present that, in addition to F1, F2, VOT and F0 are detected as acoustic cues that differentiate soft plosive consonants from hard plosive consonant in Russian.

  • Objective: To standardize the facial soft-tissue characteristics of South Korean adults according to gender by measuring the soft-tissue thickness of young men and women with normal facial profiles by using three-dimensional (3D) reconstructed models. Methods: Computed tomographic images of 22 men aged 20 - 27 years and 18 women aged 20 - 26 years with normal facial profiles were obtained. The hard and soft tissues were three-dimensionally reconstructed by using Mimics software. The soft-tissue thickness was measured from the underlying bony surface at bilateral (frontal eminence, supraorbital, suborbital, inferior malar, lateral orbit, zygomatic arch, supraglenoid, gonion, supraM2, occlusal line, and subM2) and midline (supraglabella, glabella, nasion, rhinion, mid-philtrum, supradentale, infradentale, supramentale, mental eminence, and menton) landmarks. Results: The men showed significantly thicker soft tissue at the supraglabella, nasion, rhinion, mid-philtrum, supradentale, and supraglenoid points. In the women, the soft tissue was significantly thicker at the lateral orbit, inferior malar, and gonion points. Conclusions: The soft-tissue thickness in different facial areas varies according to gender. Orthodontists should use a different therapeutic approach for each gender.

  • In this paper we deal with a cell planning issue arisen in a CDMA based multicast network. In a CDMA based wireless network, a terminal can significantly reduce the bit error rate via the cohesion of data streams from multiple base stations. In this case, multiple base stations have to be operated according to a common time line. The cells whose base stations are operated as such are called soft-combined cells. Therefore, a terminal can take advantage of error rate reduction, if the terminal is in a soft-combined cell and at least one neighboring cell is also soft-combined. However, as soft-combining operation gives heavy burden to the network controller, the limited number of cells can be soft-combined. Our problem us to find a limited number of soft-combined cells such that the benefit of the soft-combining operation is maximized.

  • Molodtsov [12] introduced the concept of soft set as a new mathematical tool for dealing with uncertainties that is free from the difficulties that have troubled the usual theoretical approaches. In this paper we apply the notion of soft sets by Molodtsov to commutative ideals of BCK-algebras, The notions of commutative soft ideals and commutative idealistic soft BCK-algebras are introduced, and their basic properties are investigated. Examples to show that there is no relations between positive implicative idealistic soft BCK-algebras and commutative idealistic soft BCK-algebras are provided.
