For heuristic purposes, the relative ratio of urease contents inside and outside cells was surveyed using nine ureB+ strains of Helicobacter pylori. the ratio of the enzyme specific activity appeared to vary greatly between the various H. pylori strains, ranging from 0.5 to 2.5. Besides the above compartment, urease was also richly found in the membrane fraction, especially in either peripheral or integral form. The urease distribution across the H. pylori membrane was significantly influenced by the ambient pH; the specific activity of external urease was highest at pH 5.5 with a narrow plateau, whereas the internal specific activity was highest within a pH range of 4.5 to 6.5 with a broad plateau. These finding strongly suggest that H. pylori urease is secretory and responded to the external pH. However, at pH 4.0 or below, no urease activity was detected in either the internal or external compartment, although an increase in the color development with 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonate (TNBS) was observed. Sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) demonstrated that these phenomena may be related to a specific proteolysis in certain proteins, including urease or ${\gamma}$-glutamyl transpeptidase. Interestingly, the effect of ammonium ions n alleviating the enzyme inactivation inside the H. pylori cells was remarkably similar to that of D-glucose. In addition, it would appear that the cation acted as a surrogate of not only $Na^+$ but also $K^+$ thereby increasing the H. pylori P-type ATPase activity. This is of great interest, as it implies that the urease action in H. pylori is indispensible at any locus.
Core-shell particles of inorganic/organic pair were synthesized from $CaCO_3$ absorbed sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) surfactant. Shell components were synthesized by sequential emulsion polymerization. Various monomers were used as shell components such as methyl methacrylate(MMA), ethyl acrylate(EA), butyl acrylate(BA), and styrene(St). Ammonium persulfate(APS) was used as an initiator and 2-ethylhexyl acylate(2-EHA) was used as a functional monomer, In the $CaCO_3$/organic core-shell particle polymerization, $CaCO_3$ absorbed surfactant SDBS of 0.5 wt% was prepared first and then core $CaCO_3$ was encapsulated by emulsion polymerization. 0.1 wt% of APS was added sequentially to minimize the formation of new monomer particle during shell polymerization. The structure of inorganic/organic core-shell particles were characterized by measuring the decomposition degree of $CaCO_3$ using HCl solution, thermogravimetric analyzer, scanning electron microscope, and transmission electron microscope.

A water-$Al_2O_3$ nanofluid was manufactured, and its thermal conductivity was measured in this study. The measurement was performed at volumetric concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, 2%, and 3%, and the nanoparticle sizes were 20 nm and 70 nm. Experimental test equipment, using the transient hot wire method, was installed to measure the thermal conductivity of the nanofluid, and the measured results were confirmed by measuring pure water with a measurement error of 0.92% at $20^{\circ}C$. The thermal conductivity enhancement ranged from 4.8% to 13.6% for the 20 nm particle size, and from 3.1% to 8.8% for the 70 nm particle size at a concentration range of 0.5% to 3%. The enhancement increased with a decrease in particle size and an increase in concentration. With the elapse of time after manufacturing the nanofluid, the thermal conductivity enhancement decreased significantly from 5 to 9 h, and this trend was measured under all of the measurement conditions. After 24 h, the enhancement ranged from 1.2% to 3.5% for the 20 nm particles, and from 0.6% to 2.3% for the 70 nm particles. The enhancement trends with the elapse of time were almost identical with and without stirring the nanofluid. SDBS (Sodium Dodecyl Benzene Sulfonate) was added as a dispersing agent, and the decrease in the thermal conductivity enhancement was delayed.
A novel and simple method of luminescence enhancement effect for the determination of trace amounts of bile acid was proposed. The procedure was based on the luminescence intensity of the balofloxacin-europium(III) complex that could be strongly enhanced by bile acid in the presence of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS). Under the optimum conditions, the enhanced luminescence intensity of the system exhibited a good linear relationship with the bile acid concentration in the range $5.0{\times}10^{-9}-7.0{\times}10^{-7}\;mol\;L^{-1}$ with a detection limit of $1.3{\times}10^{-9}\;mol\;L^{-1}$ ($3{\sigma}$). The relative standard deviation (RSD) was 1.7% (n = 11) for $5.0{\times}10^{-8}\;mol\;L^{-1}$ bile acid. The applicability of the method to the determination of bile acid was demonstrated by investigating the effect of potential interferences and by analyzing human serum and urine samples. The possible enhancement mechanism of luminescence intensity in balofloxacin-europium(III)-bile acid-SDBS system was also discussed briefly.
Poly(methyl methacrylate)/poly(butyl acrylate) PMMA/PBA core-shell composite particles were prepared by the emulsion polymerization of MMA and BA in the presence of different concentration of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS). The following conclusions are drawn from the measured conversion and particle size distribution, morphology, average molecular weight distribution, observation of film formation and particle formation, glass transition temperature and physical properties of polymerized core-shell composition particles for using adhesive binder. When the concentration of 0.03 wt% surfactant, the conversions of PMMA and PBA core polymerization are excellent as 95.8% for PMMA core and 92.3% for PBA core. Core-shell composite particles are obtained 90.0% for PMMA/PBA core-shell composite particles and 89.0% for PMMA/PBA core-shell composite particles. It is considered that the core and shell particles are polymerized to be confirmed FT-IR spectra and average molecular weight measured with a GPC, formation of the composite particles is confirmed by the film formation from normal temperature, and composition of inside and outside of the composite particle is confirmed by TEM photograph. The synthesized polymer has two glass transition temperatures, suggesting that the polymer is composed of core polymer and shell polymer unlike general copolymers. It is considered that each core-shell composite particle can be used as a high functionality adhesion binder by the measurement of tensile strength and elongation.
High-quality single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) were synthesized by catalytic decomposition of $C_2H_2$ using Fe-Mo/MgO catalyst at $800^{\circ}C$. The as-synthesized SWCNTs typically occurred in the form of a bundle with a diameter of 10~20 nm together with amorphous carbon and catalytic impurities, which were removed by a two-step purification process consisting of oxidation and an acid treatment. The oxidation step, using an $O_2$-Ar mixture at $380^{\circ}C$ for 5 hr in a vertical-type furnace and a $HNO_3$ treatment at $100^{\circ}C$ for one hour, was utilized to remove the amorphous carbon particles. Subsequently, metallic catalysts were removed in HCl at room temperature for 5 hr under magnetic stirring. The SWCNT suspension was prepared by dispersing the purified SWCNTs in an aqueous sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate solution with horn-type sonication. This was then air-sprayed on glass to fabricate CNT field emitters. The samples had a turn-on field value of 4 V/${\mu}m$ and a current density of 0.67 mA/$cm^2$ at 9 V/${\mu}m$. Increasing the HCl treatment time improved the field emission properties.

The water-based magnetic fluids were prepared with the synthesized ultra-fine magnetite, oleic acid and SDBS (sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate) as surfactants. The dispersion of water-based magnetic fluids was about 90 % when the added amounts of oleic acid and SDBS for magnetite(27 g) were more than $2.66{\times}10^{-3}$ mol and 10 g respectively. As the solid content increased from o. 05 g/cc to 0.4 g/cc, saturation magnetization of magnetic fluids at 5 kOe increased from 1.98 emu/g to 9.63 emu/g at $Fe^{2+}/Fe^{3+}=0.5$ and from 2.7 emu/g to 14.63 emu/g at $Fe^{2+}/Fe^{3+}=1.0$, and the its viscosity increased from 1.3 cp to 4.4 cp at $Fe^{2+}/Fe^{3+}=0.5$. pH region of oleic acid and SDBS stabilized water-based mag¬netic fluids was stable was in the range of pH 3.0 to pH 11.0. Stability of Water-based magnetic fluids can be obtained by observation of magnetic memory patterns on the VCR tape.

Field experiments were carried out to evaluate the utility of water hyacinth(Eichhornia crassipes Solm-Laub) for purifyng sewage water in paddy fields of $247m^2$(75 Pyung). A field was lined with PVC film at a depth of 30cm and sewage water for 40 days. The results obtained with the use of water hyacinth in the sewage water are summarized as follows : 1. The Sodium linear dodecyl benzene sulfonate content of sewage water on the inlet was 6.33 ppm, themiddle point was 3.50 ppm and the outlet was 1.37 ppm. 2. With the use of water hyacinth in the sewage and the distilled water, the L.A.S. content were decreased from 7.3 and 4.0 to 0, respectively. 3. Sterillization with 70% ethyl alcohol at the roots of the water hyacinth was reduced the degradation effect of L.A.S. 4. The COD and $NH_4^+-N$ content of the sewage decreased from 107 and 32.7 ppm to 32.6 and 16.2 ppm, respectively and the P, Na and Cl content also were reduced.

A cold-active and alkaline serine protease (Pro21717) was partially purified from the Antarctic marine bacterium Pseudoalteromonas arctica PAMC 21717. On a zymogram gel containing skim milk, Pro21717 produced two distinct clear-zones of approximately 37 kDa (low intensity) and 74 kDa (high intensity). These were found to have identical N-terminal sequences, suggesting they arose from an identical precursor and that the 37 kDa protease might homodimerize to the more active 74 kDa form of the protein. Pro21717 displayed proteolytic activity at $0-40^{\circ}C$ (optimal temperature of $40^{\circ}C$) and maintained this activity at pH 5.0-10.0 (optimal pH of 9.0). Notably, relative activities of 30% and 45% were observed at $0^{\circ}C$ and $10^{\circ}C$, respectively, in comparison to the 100% activity observed at $40^{\circ}C$, and this enzyme showed a broad substrate range against synthetic peptides with a preference for proline in the cleavage reaction. Pro21717 activity was enhanced by $Cu^{2+}$ and remained stable in the presence of detergent surfactants (linear alkylbenzene sulfonate and sodium dodecyl sulfate) and other chemical components ($Na_2SO_4$ and metal ions, such as $Ba^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$, $Fe^{2+}$, $K^+$, and $Na^{2+}$), which are often included in commercial detergent formulations. These data indicate that the psychrophilic Pro21717 has properties comparable to the well-characterized mesophilic subtilisin Carlsberg, which is commercially produced by Novozymes as the trademark Alcalase. Thus it has the potential to be used as a new additive enzyme in laundry detergents that must work well in cold tap water below $15^{\circ}C$.
