The influence of ultrasound frequency, dissolved gases, and initial concentration on the decomposition of sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate(DBS) aqueous solution was investigated using ultrasound generator with 200 W ultrasound power. The decomposition rates at three frequencies(50, 200, and 600 kHz) examined under argon atmosphere were highest at 200 kHz. The highest observed decomposition rate at 200 kHz occurred in the presence of oxygen followed by air and argon, helium, and nitrogen. The effect of initial concentration of DBS on the ultrasonic decomposition was decreased with increasing initial concentration and would depend upon the formation of micelle in aqueous solution. It appears that the ultrasound frequency, dissolved gases, and initial concentration play an important role on the sonolysis of DBS. Sonolysis of DBS mainly take place at the interfacial region of cavitation bubbles by both OH radical attack and pyrolysis to alkyl chain, aromatic ring, and headgroup.
An anionic surfactant, sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS), was introduced during the ultrasonication process for exfoliation of graphene. The surfactant plays the roles of exfoliator and stabilizer by binding to the graphene surface. The obtained modified graphene was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and solid state $^{13}C$ CP/MAS NMR to analyze the binding between molecules, and by X-ray diffraction (XRD) to characterize the bulk structure. The resulting graphene exhibited good dispersion stability in both water and organic solvents.
For the purpose of development of the latex suitable for latex modified concrete, experimental researches on the preparation of carboxylated styrene butadiene latex by the method of the two-step emulsion polymerization and application to concrete were performed. Sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate and sodium salt of lauryl sulfonate were selected as anionic emulsifiers, and nonylphenoxy poly(ethyleneoxy) ethanols (n=10, 20, 40) as latex stabilizer. Potassium persulfate and sodium bisulfite were used as redox initiator, besides $Na_2HPO_4$ and $K_2CO_3$ as electrolytes. Polymerization recipe of latex suitable for latex modified concrete were suggested from the experimental researches on the effects of anionic emulsifiers and their concentration on the polymerization stability, and the effect of electrolytes concentration on the particle size of latex. Physical properties, such as slump, air contents, compressive and flexural strength, of latex prepared by suggested polymerization recipe were examined. The experimental results showed that latex modified concrete satisfied the quality standards in slump and air contents. Furthermore, it was turned out that the compressive and the flexural strength of latex modified concrete with 28 days curing time showed appreciably improvements.
Carbon dioxide is one of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and much research is underperforming in reducing carbon dioxide. Geological carbon dioxide storage is considered the primary technique for global warming prevention. So, technic development for storing carbon dioxide is required. Using surfactant is considered an effective material for geological carbon dioxide storage. However, research on using surfactants for carbon dioxide sequestration is not enough. In this study, a 2D micromodel experiment depends on the surfactant type (sodium dodecyl sulfate and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate), concentration and carbon dioxide injection rate. As result, geological carbon dioxide sequestration efficiency is increased according to surfactant concentration and carbon dioxide injection rate increase. However, efficiency no more increases after critical concentration and rate.
Aquesous carbon nanotubes (CNTs) solutions were prepared using SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfonate) and NADDBS (sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate). Our inks are found to have the viscosity of 1-2 cps. In addition, the surface tension of inks inversely decreased with increasing surfactant concentration and then saturated at critical micelle concentration (CMC). The low surface tension at CMC gave rise to lower contact angles on Indium layers, resulting in larger printable feature sizes. In the fabrication of cold cathode, jet-printing is feasible to modify and scale up the cathode structures. These feasibilities could contribute jet-printing method to be more adaptable for making large-area cold cathodes.
For the purpose of development of the latex suitable for polymer cement mortar, experiments on the preparation of carboxylated styrene butadiene latex by the method of the two-step emulsion polymerization were performed. Methyl methacrylate, methacrylic acid and acrylic acid were selected as carboxylic co-monomer, styrene and butadiene as monomer, sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate and sodium salt of lauryl sulfonate as anionic emulsifiers, and nonylphenoxy poly (ethyleneoxy) ethanol (n=10, 20, 40) as latex stabilizer. Potassium persulfate and sodium bisulfite were also used as redox initiator, and sodium monohydrogen phosphate and potassium carbonate as electrolytes. The effects of categories and concentration of carboxylic co-monomer, molecular weight control agent, crosslinking agent, and styrene/butadiene monomer ratio on the characteristics of latex were investigated. Polymerization recipes for preparation of polymer cement mortar could be proposed. The prepared latexes were tested for the physical properties such as compressive and flexural strength when latexes were mixed with cement mortar. The results showed that the latex could be adapted to polymer cement mortar. Also, it was recognized that the compressive and flexural strength were exhibited 25.4% and 45.3% respectively higher improvement than the quality standards at 28 days curing time.

Porous resin beads of Poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) have been prepared by suspension polymerization. The bead could be made porous in the region above 30wt% of the crosslinking agent(divinylbenzene ) and the porogenic agent(toluene), respectively. The specific surface area of porous beads increased with increasing the concentrations of divinylbenzene and toluene. The specific surface area of the porous resin bead decreased, when sulfonated with concentrated sulfuric acid. The catalytic activity of sulfonated resin catalyses increased with increasing the degree of crosslinking in the liquid-phase reesterification of ethyl acetate with 1-propanol. The adsorbed quantity of sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate in an aqueous solution also increased with increasing surface area of porous resins.

Authors have studied the adsorption of anionic surfactant from detergent solutions on cotton fabric during washing process and have measured the concentration of the residual surfactant in rinsing solution. The relations with temperature and pre-soaking time to rinsing process have been studied. The adsorption of sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate by various textile fibers has also been investigated. The results of this study are; 1. Three times rinsing is sufficient as, without pre-soaking, the concentration of the surfactant on fabric is stable from that time on. 2. The rinsing efficiency increases with temperature; at $25^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$, and $55^{\circ}C$, the concentrations of surfactant on the fabric after-rinsing are 68, 59, 51 mg/100 g of fiber respectively. 3. The longer the pre-soaking time, the lower the rinsing efficiency is; the 4hrs presoaked fabric shows increased surfactant concentration than the one without-soaking. And the increment is 35.8%. 4. The adsorption of sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate on fabrics differs greatly with the chemical nature of the fiber; wool, silk and nylon which are thought to be ionic-adsorbants shows greater adsorption. 5. The adsorption of surfactant is more affected by the ionic character than the physical one, and the one with higher crystallinity such as cotton and polyester shows lower value than rayon or acetate.
The adsorption of the anionic surfactants, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS) anion surfactants form aqueous solutions with nonionic resins, Amberlite XAD-2, XAD-4 and XAD-7 at temperatures in 15~45$^{\circ}C$ range was studied. Several adsorption isotherm models were used to fit the experimental data, The best results were obtained with the Redlich-Peterson equation and the Freundlich model provided remarkably good fits. For a particular resin at a particular temperature, SDBS was more extensively adsorbed than SLS. The highest adsorption were obtained with XAD-4 resin and the specific surface area of the resins plays a major role in adsorption of the surfactants. Estimations of the isosteric heat of adsorption were indicative of an exothermic process, and their magnitudes manifested a physisorption process.
Anionic surfactants such as sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate (SDSS) and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (NaDBS) and a nonionic surfactant, polyoxyethylene oleyl ether (OE-7) were tested for their protective, curative, and persistent activities on tomato late blight (TLB, Phytophthora infestans), red pepper blight (RPB, P. capsici), and cucumber downy mildew (CDM, Pseudoperonospora cubensis). They exhibited a strong protective activity on TLB, RPB, and CDM. Among them, $NaDBS\;(500\;{\mu}g/ml)$ showed the most in vivo antifungal activities(1-day protective activity) with control values of 99%, 100%, and 85% against TLB, RPB, and CDM, respectively. However, the three surfactants represented a weak disease controlling efficacy on TLB, RPD, and CDM in a 1-day curative application. SDSS and NaDBS exhibited a good persistent activities on TLB and RPB. Especially, NaDBS, at $500\;{\mu}g/ml$, showed control values of more than 88% on TLB and RPB in a 7-day protective application. The results indicate SDSS and NaDBS have a potential for the control of TLB, RPB, and CDM in the fields.
