가성알칼리와 탄산나트륨을 혼합한 활성화제를 사용한 알칼리 활성화 고로슬래그 모르타르의 강도 특성 (The Strength Properties of Alkali-Activated Slag Mortars by Combined Caustic Alkali with Sodium Carbonate as Activator)

  • 이 연구는 혼합 알칼리 활성화 슬래그 모르타르의 압축강도에 미치는 영향에 관한 것이다. 활성화제의 효과는 활성화제의 종류, 농도 등이 강도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 알려져있다. 혼합 활성화제는 5가지 가소성 알칼리(수산화나트륨, 수산화칼슘, 수산화마그네슘, 수산화알루미늄, 수산화칼륨)와 탄산나트륨($Na_2CO_3$)를 혼합하였다. 배함은 각 활성화제를 1M, 2M, 그리고 3M의 서로 다른 농도로 하였다. 압축강도 결과는 혼합 알칼리 활성화 슬래그 모르타르는 탄산나트륨의 농도가 증가하면 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 혼합 활성화제를 사용한 알칼리 활성화 슬래그 모르타르는 모든 재령과 시험체가 탄산나트륨을 혼합하지 않은 컨트롤 케이스보다 향상된 강도를 나타내었다. 전자주사현미경(SEM) 관찰 결과 활성화 반응으로 C-S-H와 aluminusilicate gel이 생성된 것을 볼 수 있었다.

  • Optimum reactons for the preparation of extra-light magnesium carbonate from magnesium chloride and sodium carbonate solutions were found by observing the difference of crystalline shapes under an electromicroscope. Reaction temperature the and washing temperature were main factors affecting the crystalline shapes, and drying temperature was found to be of secondary importance. Optimum temperatures for reaction and washing ranged from $20^{\circ}C$ to $30^{\circ}C$ and the temperature over $40^{\circ}C$ should be avoided for the reaction and washing. It was found that the higher the drying temperature, the lighter the crsytal of the produced magnesium carbonate. Reaction time, molar ratio (Mg$^{2+}/CO_{3}^{2-}$ ) and the concentrations of magnesium chloride and sodium carbonate solutions have only a slight effect on the form of the product.

Preparation of Regenerated Cellulose Fiber via Carbonation. I. Carbonation and Dissolution in an Aqueous NaOH Solution

  • Cellulose carbonate was prepared by the reaction of cellulose pulp and $CO_2$ with treatment reagents, such as aqueous $Zncl_2$ (20-40 wt%) solution, acetone or ethyl acetate, at -5-$0^{\circ}C$ and 30-40 bar ($CO_2$) for 2 hr. Among the treatment reagents, ethyl acetate was the most effective. Cellulose carbonate was dissolved in 10% sodium hydroxide solution containing zinc oxide up to 3 wt% at -5-$0^{\circ}C$. Intrinsic viscosities of raw cellulose and cellulose carbonate were measured with an Ubbelohde viscometer using 0.5 M cupriethylenediamine hydroxide (cuen) as a solvent at $20^{\circ}C$ according to ASTM D1795 method. The molecular weight of cellulose was rarely changed by carbonation. Solubility of cellulose carbonate was tested by optical microscopic observation, UV absorbance and viscosity measurement. Phase diagram of cellulose carbonate was obtained by combining the results of solubility evaluation. Maximum concentration of cellulose carbonate for soluble zone was increased with increasing zinc oxide content. Cellulose carbonate solution in good soluble zone was transparent and showed the lowest absorbance and the highest viscosity. The cellulose carbonate and its solution were stable in refrigerator (-$5^{\circ}C$ and atmospheric pressure).

Salting-out extraction of ginsenosides from the enzymatic hydrolysates of Panax quinquefolium based on ethanol/sodium carbonate system

  • Background: Salting-out extraction (SOE) had been developed as a special branch of aqueous two-phase system recently. So far as we know, few reports involved in extracting ginsenosides with SOE because of the lower recovery caused by the unique solubility and surface activity of ginsenosides. A new SOE method for rapid pretreatment of ginsenosides from the enzymatic hydrolysates of Panax quinquefolium was established in this article. Methods: The SOE system comprising ethanol and sodium carbonate was selected to extract ginsenosides from the enzymatic hydrolysates of Panax quinquefolium, and HPLC was applied to analyze the ginsenosides. Results: The optimized extraction conditions were as follows: the aqueous two-phase extraction system comprising ethanol, sodium carbonate, ethanol concentration of 41.51%, and the mass percent of sodium carbonate of 7.9% in the extraction system under the experimental condition. Extraction time had minor influence on extraction efficiency of ginsenosides. The results also showed that the extraction efficiencies of three ginsenosides were all more than 90.0% only in a single step. Conclusion: The proposed method had been successfully applied to determine ginsenosides in enzymatic hydrolysate and demonstrated as a powerful technique for separating and purifying ginsenosides in complex samples.

수증기개질 가스화반응을 이용한 나왕톱밥으로부터 수소제조특성 (Production of Hydrogen by Thermochemical Transition of Lauan Sawdust in Steam Reforming Gasification)

  • 바이오매스를 이용하여 수소 생산을 목적으로 가스화 반응기를 이용하여 라왕 톱밥의 수증기 개질을 이용한 가스화 연구를 수행하였다. 1 m의 높이와 10.2 cm의 내경을 갖는 고정층 반응기에서 촉매와 온도에 따른 가스화반응에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 가스화반응 중에 수증기개질효과를 위하여 일정량의 스팀을 주입하였다. 톱밥과 탄산칼륨($K_2CO_3$), 탄산나트륨($Na_2CO_3$), 탄산칼슘($CaCO_3$), 탄산나트륨+탄산칼륨, 탄산마그네슘+탄산칼슘 촉매를 8:2의 일정한 비율로 혼합한 후 고정층 가스화 반응기에 주입하여 $400{\sim}700^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 가스화반응에 따른 생성되는 기체의 조성을 기체 크로마토그래피를 이용하여 분석하였다. 촉매를 사용하였을 때 비촉매의 경우보다 수소, 메탄, 일산화탄소의 생성분율이 높게 나타났다. 온도의 증가에 따라 생성되는 수소, 메탄, 일산화탄소의 생성분율이 증가하였으며, $Na_2CO_3$ 촉매에서 가장 높은 수소수율을 나타났다.

유리 알카리 및 수분이 sucrose polyesters 합성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Free Alkali and Moisture on Sucrose Polyesters Synthesis)

  • 최근 유지 대체물질로 사용이 검토되고 있는 sucrose polyesters(SPE) 합성에 사용하는 지방산 Na염 중의 유리알카리 및 수분, 그리고 sucrose, potassium carbonate에 함유된 수분함량이 SPE 합성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 지방산 Na염에 존재하는 미량의 유리알카리는 SPE 합성을 저해하는 것으로 나타났으며 그 함량을 0%에서 5%까지 변경시킴에 따라 SPE 제조수율은 92%에서 점차 감소하여 45.5%로 되었다. 따라서 지방산 Na염을 제조하기 위한 비누화 반응시, 대두유 지방산메틸에스테르(fatty acid methyl esters, FAME)의 당량보다 적은 당량비(0.9 : 1)의 NaOH를 사용, 대두유 FAME과 반응시켜 유리알칼리가 함유되지 않은 대두유 지방산 Na염을 제조하였다. 지방산 Na염이나 sucrose, potassium carbonate에 흡수되는 수분 역시 SPE 합성을 저해하였는데, $105^{\circ}C$에서 6시간 건조하여 잔존수분을 제거한 후 합성한 SPE의 제조수율(92%)은 건조하지 않은 원부재료로 합성한 SPE의 수율(89%)보다 높았다. 유리알카리 및 수분이 제거된 대두유 지방산 Na염, sucrose 및 potassium carbonate를 대두유 FAME과 반응시켜 제조한 대두유 SPE의 제조수율은 91.7%로서, SPE 합성에 있어서 사용하는 지방산 Na염에 잔존하는 유리알카리 및 원부재료의 보관중에 흡수될 수 있는 미량의 수분을 반응이전에 제거함으로써 이들에 의한 SPE 합성저해작용을 방지할 수 있었으며 재현성 있는 SPE 합성을 할 수 있었다.

세척시 알칼리에 의한 면섬유의 손상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Alkaline Degradation of Cotton Fabric in Washing)

  • This study was carried out to compare the effect of caustic soda with the effect of caustic potash on cotton fabric. Instead of caustic potash, sodium carbonate similar in chemical composition to caustic potash was used. The damage of cotton cellulose by repeated washing in various alkaline solutions at 8$0^{\circ}C$, 60 rpm was examined. The damage of cotton cellulose by the variation of copper number, carboxyl content, degree of polymerization and retained tensile strength was estimated. The results obtained at this study are as follows; 1. The damage of cotton by caustic soda was severer than caustic potash. The retained tensile strength at 50 washing cycle in caustic soda was 59% and in sodium carbonate was 80%. 2. By adding soap to caustic soda, the damage of cotton fabric decreased because contact area between fabric and air diminished by foam. 3. Detergency of EMPA 101 in caustic soda was lower than sodium carbonate. Consequently, using caustic soda that damage fabric severely and have lower detergency for caustic potash is unreasonable.

합판용 페놀수지 접착제의 속경화 (Fast-Curing of Phenol·Formaldehyde Resin Adhesives for Plywood)

  • To accelerate the cure of phenolic resin adhesives for plywood, the complexation with melamine resin and the addition of cure-accelerating agents were discussed. The hot-pressing temperature and time of phenol resin could be decreased by complexation with melamine resin. but the wet glue-joints strength of phenol melamine resin was lower than that of ordinary phenol resin in case of plywood using spruce veneer at core layer. Among the tested cure-accelerating agents. the sodium carbonate showed the greatest effect on shortening gelation time of phenolic resin. In addition, in the manufacturing scale test, the hot-pressing time of phenol resin with the addition of 5 parts sodium carbonate could be shortened about 20% compared with ordinary phenol resin which had same glue-joints properties.

Manufacturing of Copper(II) Oxide Powder for Electroplating from NaClO3 Type Etching Wastes

  • In this study, copper (II) oxide powder for electroplating was prepared by recovering CuCl2 from NaClO3 type etching wastes via recovered non-sintering two step chemical reaction. In case of alkali copper carbonate [mCuCo3·nCu(OH)2], first reaction product, CuCo3 is produced more than Cu(OH)2 when the reaction molar ratio of sodium carbonate is low, since m is larger than n. As the reaction molar ratio of sodium carbonate increased, m is larger than n and Cu(OH)2 was produced more than CuCO3. In the case of m has same values as n, the optimum reaction mole ratio was 1.44 at the reaction temperature of 80℃ based on the theoretical copper content of 57.5 wt. %. The optimum amount of sodium hydroxide was 120 g at 80℃ for production of copper (II) oxide prepared by using basic copper carbonate product of first reaction. At this time, the yield of copper (II) oxide was 96.6 wt.%. Also, the chloride ion concentration was 9.7 mg/L. The properties of produced copper (II) oxide such as mean particle size, dissolution time for sulfuric acid, and repose angle were 19.5 mm, 64 second, and 34.8°, respectively. As a result of the hole filling test, it was found that the copper oxide (II) prepared with 120 g of sodium hydroxide, the optimum amount of basic hydroxide for copper carbonate, has a hole filling of 11.0 mm, which satisfies the general hole filling management range of 15 mm or less.

폴리아크릴산 소다에 의한 중질 탄산칼슘의 분산효과 (Effects of Ground Calcium Carbonate Dispersion by Sodium Polyacrylate)

  • Ground Calcium Carbonate, among paper coating pigments, will influence less dispersant demand, less binder demand, increase coating solids from 58% to 70%, which means high speed coating, less shrinkage during drying, less energy consumption, more uniform coverage of fibers. The quality point of view of Ground Calcium Carbonate, brightness, particle size, Particle size distribution, hardness, impurities content are important. More important factors of Ground Calcium Carbonate which influence the paper coating process are dispersion mechanisms and their effects. The study was made to investigate the effect of Ground Calcium Carbonate dispersion by sodium salt of polyacrylate dispersant composition and dispersion condition. Basic tests such as physical, optical and chemical were perfumed, and dispersion effects were investigated by different conditions. The results showed that the type of dispersant affected the dispersion effects, and the Ground Calcium Carbonate has critical dispersant demand.
