  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relation of stress and perceived social supports to problem behavior during childhood, with particular emphasis on the main and stress-buffering effects of perceived social supports. Such demographic data as parents' educational level, father's job, mother's employment, family income, and child's sex and age were also in chided in the study. Statistical techniques were ANOVA, t-test, and multiple regression. Major findings were that behavior problems of children increased with children's stress and decreased by perceived social supports. Perceived social supports moderated the relation between children's stress and problem behavior. Children's stress and perceived social supports differ by educational level of parents, father's job, and family income. Behavior problems of children were differed by family income, father's educational level and job. Children's stress and behavior problems differed by sex and age in some sub-domains, but perceived social supports did not differ by children's sex and age. Perceived social support from friends was the most influential factor affecting children's problem behavior. Therefore, friends may be considered the most important source of social support that is available for adjustment and for coping with stress during childhood.

  • Objectives : To examine the screening rate of cervical cancer in women and to find out the predictive factors for participation in cervical cancer screening programs within their life-time and within the last two years. Methods : The data was based on self-reported questionnaires from 1,613 women whose ages ranged from 26 to 60 years; this survey was peformed between December 1999 and January 2000. This study analyzed the predictive factors for participation in cervical cancer screening programs within their life-time and within the last two years. A logistic regression analysis was performed in order to derive the significant variables from the predisposing factors(demographic factor, health promotion behavior, reproductive factor), intervention factors(information channel, relation with medical stan, and proximal factors(attitude, social influence, self-efficacy). All analyses were peformed by the PC-SAS 6.12. Results : Our analyses showed that the screening rate for the women who received a cervical cancer screening(Pap smear) more than once within their life-time was 56.1% while those who had received one within the last two years was 34.5%. The significant factors for participation in cervical cancer screening program within their life-time were their income, married age, health promotion score, relation with medical staffs, social influence, and self-efficacy. On the other hand, age, number of pregnancies, menarche age, relation with medical staffs, social influences, and self-efficacy were significant factors for those being screened within the last two years. The predictive power of the logit model within their life-time was 68.8% and that within the last two years was 66.6%. Conclusion : The predictive factors for participation in cervical cancer screening program within their life-time are different from those for within the last two years. and that women's relations with medical staffs and social influences were the critical factors impacting on cervical cancer screening rates.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the factorial structure of clothing purchase motives, and to examine the relationship between clothing purchase motives, self-concept, and post-purchase clothing satisfaction of males. Questionnaire was comprised of three sections: 25 Likert type statements of clothing purchase motive measure; post-purchase clothing satisfaction measure; and three self-concepts measure(physical, personal, and social self-concept). For the measurement of self-concepts, a portion of‘Self-Concept Scale’by Wonshik Chung was used. Samples were 312 male white collar workers in Seoul, whose age were ranged from 20 to 39. the data were analyzed using factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study were the followings: 1. Six factors of clothing purchase motives derived by factor analysis. 21 items having a factor loading of ± .40 or higher were given consideration in the interpretation of each factor: F.1‘clothing dsign’; F.2‘fashion and impulsive buying’, F.3‘clothing utility’; F.4‘others influence’: F.5‘financial margin’; F.6‘clothing’2. Male consumers perceived the purchase motive of‘clothing design’to be the most important,‘clothing deficiency’the second important, and‘others influence’the least important. 3. Physical, personal, and social self-concept had positive relations to the purchase motive of‘clothing design’and negative relations to the‘clothing deficiency’. Physical self-concept had negative relation to the motive of‘others influence’. 4. Male consumers high in physical, personal, and social self-concept had more positive attitude in the evaluation of post-purchase clothing satisfaction. 5. Post-purchase clothing satisfaction was influenced most by the purchase motive of‘clothing design’, and next by physical self-concept, and age. Age of subjects had negative relation to post-purchase clothing satisfaction. The explanatory power of the 3 variables was 19.9%.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate mothers' beliefs and executions in the social relations area of the 2019 revised Nuri curriculum, and to investigate the effects of beliefs and executions on the emotional intelligence and prosocial behavior of young children. For this purpose, data were collected by distributing questionnaire packets to 268 mothers of children aged 3-5 years who were enrolled in 7 early childhood education institutions in Gyeonggi-do. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. As a result of the study, first, there was a statistically significant difference in the overall belief according to the mother's personal characteristic, the educational level, and a significant difference in the sub-factor, living together, in the execution. Second, it was found that there was a significant positive correlation between all variables except for the relationship between social relation execution and the ability to regulate others, which is a sub-factor of emotional intelligence. Third, beliefs and executions in social relation were found to affect all emotional intelligence and pro-social behavior, except for the effect of social relation execution on the ability to regulate others. This study is expected to provide basic data to improve parents' interest in the improvement of young children's social ability and practical interaction in child rearing.

We measured the sociodemographic characteristics, social support(family support, other support, quality of support), physical health state(subjective health status, number of chronic disease), physical function state(activities of daily living; ADL, instrumental activities of daily living; IADL), cognition state(mini-mental state examination-Korean; MMSE-K) and depression state(short form of geriatric depression scale; SGDS), health behaviors(smoking, drinking, exercise, eating habit). Univariate, multinominal logistic regression and covariance structure analysis were employed to analyze factors affecting on the social support of the elderly. Results: When considering the degree of social support by the sociodemographic characteristics of the older adults, the family support, other support and quality of support is better when the old is male, young, high education and self-reported living status is good and it has significance statistically. When considering the relation between social support and health status, the family support, other support and quality of support is better when the old's subjective and objective physical health status is good. The family support, other support and quality of support is better when the old's subjective health status is better. The other support and quality of support is better when the old's ADL(activities of daily living) and IADL(instrumental activities of daily living) are good. The family support, other support and quality of support is better when the old's cognitive function and depression state is better. When considering the relation between social support and health behaviors, in case of smoking and drinking, the quality of support, family support and other support is better when the old smokes and drinks rather than the old does not. In case of exercise and eating habit, the family support, other support and quality of support is better when the old exercises and eats regularly rather than the old does not. It has significance statistically. From the result of performing covariance structure analysis by structural equation modeling(SEM) with two endogenous variable(health behaviors and health status) and one exogenous variable(social support), factor loading of health status is 0.74 and factor loading of health behaviors is 0.05. The social support explains health status of 55.4% and health behaviors of 2.9%. Conclusions: This study has the meaning that it finds the difference of social support generating from inside of the group for the old residing in city and country and specifies the effect that the difference of social support influences to health status and health behaviors. From now on, in the development of health improvement strategy of the olds, it is necessary to approach from inclusive aspect while considering psychosocial factor such as social support and social economical factor as well as health status.
