Relationship between Seed Vigour and Electrolyte Leakage in Rice Seeds with Different Grain-filling Period

  • The conductivity test is a measure of electrolytes leakage from plant tissue. The shorter the maturation period after heading was the greater electrical conductivity (EC) of rice seed. The polymer-coated seed was not different in EC compared with non-coated seed. As soaking time of rice seed increased, EC increased gradually. The EC varied from 9.9 to 20.7$\mu$S $cm^{-1}g^{-l}$ for control plots and from 21.3 to 41.7$\mu$S $cm^{-1}g^{-l}$ for heat-killed seeds which were produced by autoclaving seeds at 121$^{\circ}C$ for 20 minutes. The germination speed (the rate of 5th day) of rice seed was 94% at control plot, 83% at low temperature and 20% at high temperature. Besides, germination percentage was 95% for the control, 92% for the low temperature treatment and 39% for the high temperature treatment. The EC was negatively correlated (r=-0.771$^{**}$) with germination percentage at low temperature. Water uptake in seeds of 30, 40, 50 days after heading (DAH) was greater than that of 20 DAH. Plant height of seedlings was 9.84 cm for the control but 4.32 cm for the high temperature treatment, and the tallest for polymer-coated seed. Dry weight of seedlings was 0.841 g for the control and 0.287 g at high temperature. Besides, the polymer-coated seed was heavier than non-coated seed. The number of roots was largest from 40 to 50 DAH and polymer-coated seed, but was decreased from 20 to 30 DAH. The length of roots was 20.52 cm at control plot and 19.89 cm polymer-coated seed but 8.68 cm for the low temperature treatment and 7.28 cm for the high temperature treatment.

  • To fabricate the ceramic/metal(SiC/ Al alloy) composite, SiC preform was prepared by Pressureless Powder Packing Forming Method and 6061 Al alloy was infiltrated into the preform. Uniform compact having an average pore size of 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and narrow pore size distribution was prepared. Phenolic resin solution(40 wt%) was penetrated into the SiC compact, and then the compact was preheated at the temperature of 120$0^{\circ}C$. The pore size distribution and the microstructure of the preform were not changed by preheating. An uniform microstructure without any crack in the preform was obtained in SiC-Al alloy composite. The infiltration of 6061. Al alloy into the preform began at the temperature of 130$0^{\circ}C$ and the amount of infiltration increased in proportion to the infiltration temperature and the soaking time. The increasement rate of the infiltration amount decreased after 3 h. As a result of the infiltration at 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 4 h, Al alloy was well distributed in the interparticle channels and the relative density of the composite was above 98%. The strength and the fracture toughness of the composite were 303 MPa and 21.65 MPam1/2, respectively.

  • $\beta$-SiC bonded SiC bodies were prepared from various conditions such as several compositions of(Si+C)/$\alpha$ -SiC ratio and different firing schedules and were respectively investigated compressive strength MOR and mi-crostructure. One firing schedule which produced the specimens that had $\beta$-SiC neck form with the highest strength was selected and experimented by each firing temperature. results obtained are as follows : 1) The amount of (Si+C) for th highest MOR of SiC-(Si+C) sintered body is 20wt% 2) By adding 20wt% content of (Si+C) and heating up to 1, 500 with soaking 3hrs respectively at 1,150$^{\circ}C$ 1,250$^{\circ}C$ 1,350$^{\circ}C$ and 1,400$^{\circ}C$ the highest MOR of fired specimen was resulted and its microstructure of ma-trix was composed of close $\beta$-SiC neck. 3) Microstructure of $\beta$-SiC were different greatly from each other by firing time and/or quantity of adding mix-ture and it was confirmed that they were composed of neck particle-like and heterogeneous texture. 4)$\beta$-SiC synthesis proceed rapidly at the temperature between 1,250$^{\circ}C$ and 1,350$^{\circ}C$ 5) All of the properties of 85 SiC-20(Si+C) specimen improved according to increasing temperature above 1,350$^{\circ}C$.

종자 전처리 및 환경조절이 삽주 종자 발아에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Seed Pretreatment and Environment Controls on Germination of Atractylodes japonica Seeds)

  • This study was carried out in order to examine the germination characteristics of Atractylodes japonica seeds, and it was to develop the more efficient pre-treatment and production system of the seeds. Experiment was performed by two ways-temperature control (10, 15, 20, $25^{\circ}C$) and shading treatment (full sunlight, 35, 50, 75, 95% of full sunlight). Seed pre-treatment before the each experiment was carried out by temperature (with low temperature and wetting treatment (LTW) for 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 days) and shading treatment (with drying at room temperature (DRT), drying at low temperature (DLT) and water soaking (WS) for 48 hours). Seeds of A. japonica were germinated well under temperature control (overall 85.3~100%), especially high temperature. And, the seeds pre-treated with LTW for 45 days germinated with a 100% success rate. Under the surveying shading treatment, the highest germination rate was 95.8% with DRT and overall 63.2~95.8%. Germination rate under seeds with WS was 63.2~7.8%. As a result of surveying the whole experiment, A. japonica seeds don't need to pre-treat cause of high germination, but if it is performed with LTW for a certain period of time, it would be more productive.

디젤차량 연비시험에 있어 시험온도 및 냉각팬 조건이 미치는 영향분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Influence of Test Temperature & Cooling Fan Condition on the Fuel Test of Diesel Vehicle)

  • Due to the arise of natural disasters caused by global warming, consumers have more interest in the fuel efficiency of their vehicles, and fuel efficiency became an important factor in comparing vehicles. In this market situation, methods to measure fuel efficiency has become one of the main interests of vehicle related organizations and laboratories, and the current method to measure fuel efficiency is to follow the notification established by the ministry of trade, industry and energy, ministry of environment, and the ministry of land, infrastructure and transport. In this study, we analyze the influence of vehicle fuel efficiency according to test temperature and cooling fan condition which have the possibility to cause difference in fuel efficiency. The analysis results of the influence of the fuel efficiency according to the test temperature, the difference of the fuel efficiency of the test temperature ($21{\sim}29^{\circ}C$) within the allowable range of the notification showed a maximum difference of 2.9%. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the introduction of a test method that permits only the temperature change based on the reference point as the allowable range even in the test within the allowable range. The analysis of the influence of the fuel efficiency according to the cooling method showed no significant effect, and it seems reasonable to maintain the test method of the current notification.

발아조건 및 건조방법이 발아현미의 이화학적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Germination Condition and Drying Methods on Physicochemical Properties of Sprouted Brown Rice)

  • 1. 현미를 상온저장시 2주까지는 발아율에 차이가 없으나, 저장 3주후부터는 발아율이 급격히 감소되어 발아율이 80%에 미치지 못하기 때문에 발아현미의 재배를 위해서는 도정후 2주 이내의 현미를 사용하는 것이 바람직한 것으로 판단되었다. 2. 24시간 침종처리가 무침종에 비하여 현미의 초기발아율이 약 2-3%증가되었고, $25^{\circ}C$는 현미의 발아율과 생육상태가 좋았을 뿐만 아니라 부패발생도 적었다. 3. 동결건조된 발아현미는 열풍건조된 발아현미와는 달리 호분층 및 내배유부분의 분리현상이 발생되었고, 배유의 전분 저장세포뿐만 아니라 전분립간의 균열현상이 관찰되었다. 4. 열풍건조는 동결건조 보다 유리하였고, 55$^{\circ}C$로 48시간 건조시 발아현미의 불쾌취가 제거되었다. 5. 조단백 및 amylose는 발아일수가 경과함에 따라 함량의 변화가 미미하였으나 조회분, 조섬유 및 유리당은 발아일수가 경과함에 따라 감소되었고, 조지방과 총아미노산의 함량은 증가하였다. 6. $\alpha$-amylase활력은 발아 5일부터 급격히 증가하다가 발아 8일부터 감소되는 경향이었다. 7. 유리당의 함량은 발아기간(0-8일)중 지속적으로 감소되는 경향이었으며 sucrose와 glucose의 감소가 현저하였고 발아 5일 이후 fructose와 maltose는 증가되었다.

Floating zone법에 의한 $LiNbO_3$ 단결정 성장을 위한 최적 원료분말 합성 및 소결 조건 (The optimum condition of the powder synthesis and sintering for the floatign zone crystal growth of $LiNbO_3$)

  • Floating zone법으로 $LiNbO_3$ 단결정올 육성하는데 있어서 원료분말 합성과 원료봉 소결 과정의 최척의 조건을 설험적으로 조사하였다. 원료분말 합성사 낮은 고상반응 온도(700, $800^{\circ}C$)에서는 미량의 $Li_2CO_3$$Nb_2O_5$가 미반응상태로 남아있고, 고상반응 온도가 높을 때 ($1000^{\circ}C$)에는 입자성장이 일어나 후속공정인 원료봉 소결에 악영향을 미침이 확인되었다. $950^{\circ}C$에서 12시간 고상반응시킨 원료분말이 $LiNbO_3$의 결정상을 가지면서 미세한 결정립 크기와 균일한 크기분포를 보여 $950^{\circ}C$, 12시간이 최적의 원료분말 합성조건이었다. 원료봉 소결시 소 결온도가 높아질수록, 또 소결시간이 늘어날수록 치밀도가 증가하고 업자성장 양상이 급격히 증가함을 알 수 었었다. $1100^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 동안 소결한 원료봉이 치밀하고, 작은 결정립 크기 와 균얼한 크기분포를 나타내어 floating zone법에 의한 $LiNbO_3$ 단결정성장에 가장 적합한 최적 의 소결 조건은 $1100^{\circ}C$, 2시간엄이 확인되었다.

향료자원 조성을 위한 순비기나무의 증식에 관한 연구 (Study on the Propagation of Vitex rotundifolia for Establishment of Natural Aromatic Resources)

  • 순비기나무를 향료자원으로 활용하기 위한 일련의 연구 가운데, 종자와 삽목을 이용한 증식방법에 대해 시험하였던 바, 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 종자번식에서 상온저장한 종실의 발아율이 67%로 가장 좋았다. 종실 1개당 발생한 묘목의 수는 1개 발아한 종실이 40.3%로 가장 많았고, 종실당 평균 묘목 수는 1.4개였다. 삽목번식의 경우 숙지삽목과 녹지삽목에서 모두 콤포스트+모래삽상토, IBA 2500ppm에서 삽수의 발근율이 96.7%로 가장 좋았다. 전반적으로 순비기나무의 삽목번식 조건으로는 2500ppm 이상의 고농도에서 짧은 시간동안 침지한 것이 200ppm 이하의 저농도에서 장시간 침지한 것보다 좋으며, 삽상토양으로는 모래와 콤포스트를 혼합한 것이 좋은 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 녹지삽목이 숙지삽목보다 10% 정도 발근이 양호하였다.

수침 및 감마선 처리가 밤의 저장특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Water Soaking and Gamma Irradiation on Storage Quality of Chestnuts)

  • 밤(Castanea crenata, 은기)의 저장특성에 대하여 수침처리와 감마선 조사의 영향을 검토하기 위하여, 수확된 밤을 48시간 동안 수침 처리한 후 0, 0.15, 0.25 및 0.35 kGy의 감마선을 조사하고 $0^{\circ}C$와 95$\pm$2%의 상대습도에서 9개월 동안 저장하면서 품질변화를 측정하였다. 발아현상은 수침 처리된 밤에서만 저장말기에 나타났으며, 감마선을 0.35 kGy 조사한 밤에서는 발아되지 않았다. 수침처리 밤에서는 조사 선량에 무관하게 저장 초반기부터 부패가 발생되어 수침처리 되지 않은 경우보다 저장 9개월 후 약 2배의 부패율을 보였다. 중량감소는 수침 처리된 밤이 무처리 밤보다 적었으며, 조사선량의 영향은 없었다. 과육경도는 수침처리를 하지 않은 경우 감마선 조사에 의해 감소가 억제되었으며, 고선량 일수록 높게 유지되는 경향이었다. 전당함량은 감마선이 조사된 밤이 조사되지 않은 밤보다 저장말기에 높게 유지되었으며 선량에 따른 차이는 없었다. 비타민 C 함량은 감마선 조사 직후 다소 감소되었으나 저장 중 변화는 감마선 조사된 밤에서 완만하게 감소되었다. 가용성 탄닌의 함량은 발아억제 선량 범위의 감마선 조사에 영향을 받지 않았다.

입내 분산형 Al2O3/Ag 나노복합체의 제조와 특성 (Preparation and Properties of the Intra-type Al2O3Ag Nanocomposites)

  • Alumina/silver ($Al_2O_3/Ag$) nanocomposites with Ag content up to 9 vol% were prepared from nanopowder by soaking method using ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ of needle type and spark plasma sintering (SPS). The mechanical properties of specimens were investigated three-point flexural strength and toughness as a function of the Ag contents. The maximum flexural strength of the alumina/silver nanocomposite was 850 MPa for the 1 vol% composite, and also higher than monolith alumina as about 800 MPa at 3, 5, and 7 vol% Ag contents. Fracture toughness by single edged V-notch beam (SEVNB) was $4.05MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$ for the 3 vol% composite and maintained about $4.00MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$ at 5, and 7 vol% Ag content. Microstructure of fracture surface for each fracture specimens was observed. Due to the inhibition effect of alumina grain growth, the average grain size of nanocomposites depends on the content of Ag nano particles. The fracture morphology of nanocomposite with dislocation (sub-grain boundary) by silver nano-particles of second phases in the alumina matrix also showed transgranular fracture-mode compare with intergranular of monolith alumina. Thermal conductivity of specimens at room temperature was about 40 W/mK for the 1 vol% Ag content.
