스노젤렌과 전산화 인지재활 프로그램(Rehacom)이 인지기능 향상에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Snoezelen and Computerized Cognitive Rehabilitation(Rehacom) on Improvement of Cognitive Function)

  • Purpose : This study aims to investigate the effect of the Snoezelen and Rehacom programs on improvement of attention and memory, and the effect of the Snoezelen program on stress reduction. Method : This study was targeted at 11 subjects in the Snoezelen experimental group, 11 subjects in the Rehacom group and 11 subjects in the non-experimental group. As the initial evaluation, all the subjects took electroencephalography. Then, the Snoezelen group and Rehacom group did Snoezelen training and Rehacom training, respectively total 12 times(for 20 minutes twice per week for six weeks), but no training was applied to the control group. Three weeks after the training, the interim was carried out, and four weeks after the training, the final evaluation was carried out. Results : Subjects' attention increased to $58.15{\pm}4.96$ from $43.75{\pm}4.69$ during the Snoezelen training, and increased to $49.85{\pm}1.91$ from $43.28{\pm}2.71$ during the Rehacom training, which means the Snoezelen training was more effective in improving attention(P<0.05). Subjects' memory increased to $56.14{\pm}1.26$ from $43.19{\pm}3.46$ during the Snoezelen training, and increased to $50.94{\pm}4.0$ from $43.07{\pm}2.58$ during the Rehacom training. This also implies that the Snoezelen training was more effective in improving memory(P<0.05). Conclusion : Though both of the Snoezelen training and Rehacom training improved attention and memory, the Snoezelen program was more effective, and it also influenced stress resistance and physical arousal.

스노잘렌 공간이 치매노인 동요행동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Snoezelen Room on Agitated Behavior of People with Dementia)

  • Snoezelen, multi-sensory stimulation, provides stimulation through the visual, aural, tactile, olfactory, gustatory and proprioceptive senses. Its aim is to be a relaxing, feeling of safety, novelty and stimulation with no expectations for performance. Agitated behavior of people with dementia causes significant problems and distress for cares. The objective of this research study was to test the effects of Snoezelen room on physical and verbal agitated behaviors of people with dementia. Four patients participated five sessions in Snoezelen room of 'F' dementia care facility in Sweden. Assessment instrument was basically used Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory-Short Form to be rated by caregivers on a 5-point frequency scale. Pre-trial and post-trial assessments were carried out during $27^{th}$ Aug.-$27^{th}$ Sept. 2007. Result shows that Snoezelen room has some short-term positive effect on agitated behavior even though there was a considerable variation individuals responded. This result adds to the increasing evidence that Snoezelen could be a therapeutic environment for the elderly with dementia. Further research study, with larger number of participation, and a control group is required to establish more scientific evidence of Snoezelen effects on health outcome.

스노젤렌 중재연구 논문분석 (The Analysis of Intervention Studies for Snoezelen)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze intervention studies related to Snoezelen (multisensory environment). Methods: Studies related to Snoezelen (multisensory environment) published between 1995 and 2010 in both Korean and International journals were systematically reviewed, and analyzed following guidelines. Based on inclusion criteria, 23 studies including 5 Korean and 18 International articles were selected. Results: Most studies were conducted in various area of research such as medicine, nursing, and occupational therapy. There was no publication related to Snoezelen (multisensory environment) in Korean nursing journals. In terms of target population, more than 65 % of the study subjects were patients with dementia, mental retardation, and learning disability. Intervention was implemented mostly in less than 30 minutes, once a week for 2 to 4 weeks. The effects on behavior, physical, and psychological contexts were assessed as outcome indicators. There was more 'positive' than 'no effect' in self-stimulatory behaviors, problem behaviors, heart rate, pain, mood state, and anxiety, whereas more 'no effect' than 'positive' in blood pressure, respiration, enjoyment, and relaxation. Conclusion: Future studies are needed to develop the protocol and outcome indicators for effective use of this new intervention in Korea.

Effects of Snoezelen Therapy on Stress, Anxiety, Depression, and Quality of Life of College Students with Game Addiction

  • Purpose: Despite the existence of Snoezelen method, there is no case of researching the effects on game addiction. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effects of Snoezelen therapy on stress, depression, anxiety and quality of life of college students who overuse computer games or mobile phone games. Methods: Eight students who responded to spend more than 30 hours of computer or mobile phone games in the selection questionnaire were recruited (The total respondents were 224 students). Students were randomly assigned to either the study group (4 students) or the control group (4 students). Stress (Korean version of Perceived Stress Scale, K-PSS), depression (Korean Screening Tool for Depression Disorders, K-DEP), Anxiety (Korean Beck Anxiety Inventory, K-BAI) and quality of life (Short Form Health Survey version 2 [SF-36]) were assessed three times (before intervention [pre], post-3 weeks [post 1], post-6 weeks [post 2]). Results: First, the study group (-4.75±3.86) and control group (1.00±2.71) showed significant difference (p<0.05) in the analysis of score changes between pre-test and test at 6 weeks (post 2) for K-DEP. Next, pre-test and test at 3 weeks of intervention (post 1) for K-BAI showed significant difference (p<0.05) in the study group (-2.50±1.91) and control group (2.25±2.99). In addition, pre-test and test at 6 weeks (post 2) showed significant difference (p<0.05) for the study group (-3.00±1.51) and control group (4.75±6.24). Conclusion: The study confirmed the possibility of Snoezelen therapy as a therapy method to induce effective responses in stress, depression, anxiety, and quality of life of college students with game addiction.

다감각환경중재에 관한 국외 연구의 경향: 체계적 고찰 (The Trend of Overseas Studies on the Intervention of Multisensory Environment: Systemic Review)

  • 목적 : 다감각환경 중재에 관한 효과를 연구한 국외 논문들을 체계적으로 분석하여 임상적용 시 정보를 제공하고, 국내 다감각환경 연구에 도움이 되고자 한다. 연구방법 : 전자 데이터 베이스인 Pubmed, Cochrane, Google scholar을 이용하여 2008년부터 2018년까지의 논문을 검색하였다. 주요 검색어는 'multi-sensory environment', 'snoezelen'을 사용하였다. 최종적으로 10편의 국외논문을 선정하였으며, PICO(Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome)에 따라 정리하였다. 연구결과 : 선정된 10편의 논문 중 치매환자를 대상으로 한 연구가 6편으로 가장 많았고, 그 외에 지적장애, 정신분열증, 임산부를 대상자로 하였다. 연구기간은 3주에서 10개월로, 주 2~3회기의 중재가 대부분이였고, 회기별 중재시간은 30~60분으로 나타났다. 종속변인으로는 불안과 우울과 같은 심리적인 요인과 삶의 질과 같은 사회적 요인, 인지적, 신체적인 영역에서 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구에서 중재로 사용된 다감각환경은 시각, 청각, 촉각으로 구성되었으며, 그 외의 후각과 미각, 전정감각 등이 추가적으로 제공되었다. 결론 : 앞으로 국내에서는 다감각환경 중재에 대해 관심을 가지고, 다양한 대상군 특히, 아동에게 적용해 보는 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

국내 치매환자의 인지기능 향상을 위한 중재의 효과: 무작위 대조군 실험연구의 체계적 문헌고찰 (The Effect of Intervention on Improving Cognitive Function of Patients with Dementia in Korea : A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials)

  • 본 연구는 국내 치매환자의 인지기능 향상을 위한 중재에 대한 특성과 효과를 분석하기 위해 무작위 대조군 실험연구에 대한 체계적 고찰을 시행하였다. 5개의 검색 데이터베이스를 사용하여 2010년 1월부터 2021년 6월까지 발표된 연구를 분석하였다. 총 1,104편의 연구가 검색되어 총 27편의 연구를 최종 분석하였다. 문헌의 질 평가는 Risk of bias(RoB)를 사용하였다. 인지기능 평가도구는 Mini-Mental Status Examination(MMSE)이 가장 많이 사용되었다. 인지기능 중재는 운동치료, 미술치료, 인지자극, 회상치료, 음악치료, 복합인지재활, 가상현실, 원예치료, 컴퓨터기반 인지훈련, 의도적 다감각자극, 미용치료, 요리활동, 한국적 익숙함이 적용되었다. 운동치료 2편, 가상현실 1편, 미용치료 1편을 제외하고 모든 연구에서 인지기능에 유의한 향상이 나타났다. 본 연구는 국내 치매환자의 인지기능에 대한 중재를 계획하고 실행하는데 임상적 근거를 제시하였다. 향후에는 연구방법의 질적 향상으로 체계적이고 치매의 특성에 맞는 다양한 중재 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.
