In this paper, frame rate up conversion (FRUC) algorithm considering the direction and magnitude of identical motion vectors is proposed. extended bilateral motion estimation (EBME) has higher complexity than bilateral motion estimation (BME). By using average magnitude of motion vector with x and y direction respectively, dynamic frame and static frame are decided. We reduce complexity to decide EBME. also, After we compare the direction and magnitude of identical motion vectors, We reduce complexity to decide motion vector smoothing(MVS). Experimental results show that this proposed algorithm has fast computation and better peak singnal to noise ratio(PSNR) results compared with EBME.

This paper proposes a local improvement method that combines extended topological clean up and optimization-based smoothing for homogenizing triangular grid system. First extended topological clean up procedures are applied to improve the connectivities of grid elements. Then, local optimization-based smoothing is performed for maximizing the distortion metric that measures grid quality. Using the local improvement strategy, we implement the grid homogenizations for two triangular grid examples. It is shown that the suggested algorithm improves the quality of the triangular grids to a great degree in an efficient manner and also can be easily applied to the remeshing algorithm in adaptive mesh refinement technique.

The tracking system plays a key role in accurate estimation and prediction of maneuvering vessel's position and velocity in a bid to enhance safety by taking avoiding action against collision. Therefore, in order to achieve this, many ocean- going vessels are equipped with radar and the ARPA system. However, the accuracy of prediction highly depends on the choice of the gain parameters, ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$ and ${\gamma}$ employed in the tracking filter. P revious research of this paper was based on theoretically developing an algorithm for a tracking module. This research paper is hence a continuation by the authors to determine the optimal values of the gain parameters used in the tracking module. A tracking algorithm is developed using the ${\alpha}-{\beta}-{\gamma}$ filter to carry out prediction and smoothing of the positions and velocities. Numerical simulations are then performed to evaluate the optimal values of the smoothing parameters that will improve the performance of the tracking module and reduce measurement noise. The twice distance root mean square (2drms) is then calculated to determine error variation.

In this study the quantitative outlier-filtering algorithm has been developed using the smoothing method based on the day-of-the-week traffic volume variation pattern and then, in order to test the effectiveness of the algorithm, it has been used to identify outliers from the traffic volume data collected at 14 continuous traffic counts sites on the national highways in the year 2010. The test results are satisfactory since the filtering rate is 98.2% for normal days and the mis-filtering rate is 8.0% for abnormal days. Therefore, the algorithm will be able to be used for roughly-but-quickly filtering outliers from the collected traffic volume data.

VBR compressed, pre-recorded video is known to exhibit significant, multiple time-scale bit rate variability. To reduce the variability and burstiness of the aggregated transmission rate as low as possible, in this paper, we present an adaptive bandwidth smoothing algorithm, that can be effectively applicalble for VoD services over a shared-medium channel. For these environments where many clients are connected to a single server, by introducing the conventional MVBA(minimum variability bandwidth allocation) algorithm and controlling adaptively the conventional MVBA(minimum variability bandwidth asllocation) algorithm and controlling adaptively the aggregated transmission rate whenever a new clients request is arrived at the server side, the proposed algorithm effectively reduces the burstiness and variability of the aggregated transmission rate. Through computer experiments, it is shown that the proposed method perporms better than the convertional non-aggregated bandwidth smoothing schemes in terms of the peak rate, standard deviation, number of rate changes for the aggregated traffic.

The filtered-x LMS(FX-LMS) algorithm has been applied to the active noise control(ANC) system in an acoustic duct. This algorithm is designed based on the FIR(finite impulse response) filter, but it has a slow convergence problem because of a large number of zero coefficients. In order to improve the convergence performance, the step size of the LMS algorithm was modified from fixed to variable. However, this algorithm is still not suitable for the ANC system of a short acoustic duct since the reference signal is affected by the backward acoustic wave propagated from a secondary source. Therefore, the recursive filtered-u LMS algorithm(FU-LMS) based on infinite impulse response(IIR) is developed by considering the backward acoustic propagation. This algorithm, unfortunately, generally has a stability problem. The stability problem was improved by using an error smoothing filter. In this paper, the recursive LMS algorithm with variable step size and smoothing error filter is designed. This recursive LMS algorithm, called FU-VSSLMS algorithm, uses an IIR filter. With fast convergence and good stability, this algorithm is suitable for the ANC system in a short acoustic duct such as the intake system of an automotive. This algorithm is applied to the ANC system of a short acoustic duct. The disturbance signals used as primary noise source are a sinusoidal signal embedded in white noise and the chirp signal of which the instantaneous frequency is variable. Test results demonstrate that the FU-VSSLMS algorithm has superior convergence performance to the FX-LMS algorithm and FX-LMS algorithm. It is successfully applied to the ANC system in a short duct.

The deadbeat properties have been well known in designing digital control systems. But recently several researchers proposed a CDBC(Continuout-time DeadBeat Controller) in continuous time. They used delay or smoothing elements from the finite Laplace Transform. A delay element is made by the exponential terms. A smoothing element is used to smooth the digital control input. And eventually the process is argumentd with smoothing elements and then well-known digital deadbeat controller is designed Sometimes samplings are done in continuous time systems and some hold devices are used to relate to digital systems. So multirate sampling may enhance the efficiency of the CDBC. A DC servo motor is chosen for implementing CDBC algorithm. Especially Outputs according to the variable input and disturbance are simulated. by use of Matlab Simulink.
The purpose of this paper is to propose ways to remove false color noise (FCN) generated during de-mosaicing on RGB Bayer pattern images. In case of images sensors adapting Bayer pattern color filters array (CFA), de-mosaicing is conducted to recover the RGB color data in single pixels. Here, FCN phenomena would occur where there is clearer silhouette or contrast of colors. The FCN phenomena found during de-mosaicking process appears locally in the edges inside the image and the proposed method of eliminating this is to convert RGB color space to YCbCr space to conduct smoothing process. Moreover, for edges where different colors come together, censoring based smoothing technique is proposed as a way to minimize color blurring effect.
