Mode Switching Smooth Control of Transient Process of Grid-Connected 400 Hz Solid-State Power Supply System

  • The mode-switching control of transient process is important to grid-connected 400 Hz solid-state power supply systems. Therefore, this paper analyzes the principle of on-grid and islanding operation of the system with or without local loads in the grid-connected process and provides a theoretical study of the effect of different switching sequences on the mode-switching transient process. The conclusion is that the mode switch (MS) must be turned on before the solid-state switch (STS) in the on-grid process and that STS must be turned off before the MS in the off-grid process. A strategy of mode-switching smooth control for transient process of the system is proposed, including its concrete steps. The strategy utilizes the average distribution of peak currents and the smooth adjustment of peak currents and phases to achieve a no-shock grid connection. The simulation and experimental results show that the theoretical analysis is correct and that the method is effective.

Differences of Smooth Pursuit Eye Movement in the Patients with Schizophrenic Disorder in Accordance with Family History and Their Types(Type I and Type II) (정신분열병 환자에 있어서 가족력과 임상유형(Type I, Type II)에 따른 안구추적운동의 차이)

  • Smooth pursuit eye movement, one of the reliable biological markers of schizophrenia, is not always abnormal in schizophrenic patients. Therefore the authors studied it in schizophrenic patients and normal controls and compared the results according to the presence or abscence of family history of psychosis and types (type I and type II). The results are as follows: 1) In the 18 normal control group (8 mole, 10 female), there was no sex difference in the responses of smooth pursuit eye movement. 2) In th 44 schizophrenic group (28 male, 16 female), there also was no sex difference in the responses of smooth pursuit eye movement. 3) In comparison of 44 schizophrenic group to 18 normal control group, there was significantly increased abnormal response in smooth pursuit eye movement in schizophrenic group (P < 0.005). 4) In schizophrenic group, there was no difference in the responses of smooth pursuit eye movement between type I and type II schizophrenia. 5) The presence or abscence of family history of psychosis made no difference in the responses of smooth pursuit eye movement in schizophrenic group. 6) Subdivision of type I or type II in each case of presence or abscence of family history made no difference in the responses of smooth pursuit eye movement in schizophrenic group.

Friction Coefficient, Torque Estimation, Smooth Shift Control Law for an Automatic Power Transmission

  • For shift quality improvement, torque sensors are currently too expensive to be used on production vehicles. To achieve smooth acceleration shift, the reference trajectory of the clutch slip speed for accomplishing the shift process within a designated shift completion time and its relationship with the clutch actuating torque were suggested by Jeong and Lee (1999). In order to facilitate the proposed algorithm, nonlinear estimators for necessary information such as the axle shaft torque, clutch friction and turbine torque were designed using only speed sensors. Accounting for the modeling error, a control law for this indirect smooth shift was proposed based on the above mentioned suggestions. Simulation results of the proposed estimators and shift controller were presented and further considerations for practical applications are discussed.

  • In this paper, we study the posture control of an underwater vehicle with nonholonomic constraint. Generally, systems with nonholnomic constraints cannot be stabilized to an equilibrium points by smooth state feedback control. For the nonholonomic underwater vehicle system, we applied coordinate transformation to get multi-chained system We proposed non smooth feedback controller using backstepping method for stabilizing the multi chained form system Applying inverse input transformation to the non smooth feedback controller, we can get posture controller of the underwater vehicle with nonholonomic constraint. The proposed control scheme is applied to the posture control qf an underwater vehicle and verified the effectiveness of control strategy by numerical simulation.

  • Eye movements serve vision by placing the image of an object on the fovea of each retina, and by preventing slippage of images on the retina. The brain employs two modes of ocular motor control, fast eye movements (saccades) and smooth eye movements. Saccades bring the fovea to a target, and smooth eye movements prevent retinal image slip. Smooth eye movements comprise smooth pursuit, the optokinetic reflex, the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR), vergence, and fixation. Saccades achieve rapid refixation of targets that fall on the extrafoveal retina by moving the eyes at peak velocities that can exceed $700^{\circ}/s$. Various brain lesions can affect saccadic latency, velocity, or accuracy. Smooth pursuit maintains fixation of a slowly moving target. The pursuit system responds to slippage of an image near the fovea in order to accelerate the eyes to a velocity that matches that of the target. When smooth eye movements velocity fails to match target velocity, catch-up saccades are used to compensate for limited smooth pursuit velocities. The VOR subserves vision by generating conjugate eye movements that are equal and opposite to head movements. If the VOR gain (the ratio of eye velocity to head velocity) is too high or too low, the target image is off the fovea, and head motion causes oscillopsia, an illusory to-and-fro movement of the environment.

  • If one can find a control Lyapunov function (CLF) for a given nonlinear system, the control input stabilizing the system can be easily obtained. To find a CLF, the time derivative of an energy function should be negative definite. This procedure frequently requires a control input which is a rational function or includes an inverse function. The control input is not defined on the specific state-space where the denominator of the rational function is equal to 0 or the inverse function does not exist. In this region with singularities, the trajectory of the control system cannot be generated, which is one of the most important reasons why it is hard to make the origin of a nonlinear system be globally asymptotically stable. In this paper, we propose a smooth control law ensuring the globally asymptotic stability by means of cancelling the singularity in the control input.

  • Recently, electronic engine control system is used in many automotives for high efficiency and low pollution. In order to perform these requirements, fuel injection control, spark timing control, knock control, exhaust gas recirculation control and idle speed control should be implemented. In this paper, idle speed control system using microcontroller is developed, which is compact in hardware, but powerful in software performing efficient control and various compensations for engine condition and environments. If idle speed is low engine operation is not smooth, reversely if high, fuel consumption is increased. Therefore idle speed must be maintained as low as possible within the scope that ensures smooth operation of engine. Also, an engine signal simulator, which generates various signals from engine, is realized for test facility.

  • This paper presents an adaptive control strategy for the speed control of a four-phase switched reluctance motor (SRM) in automotive applications. The main objective is to minimize the torque ripples, despite the unstructured uncertainties, time-varying parameters and external load disturbances. The bound of perturbations is not required to be known in the developing of the proposed adaptive-based control method. In order to achieve a smooth control effort, some properties are incorporated and the proposed control algorithm is constructed using the Lyapunov theorem where the closed-loop stability and robust tracking are ensured. The effectiveness of the proposed controller in rejecting high perturbed load torque with smooth control effort is verified with comparing of an adaptive sliding mode control (ASMC) and validated with experimental results.

Mechanosensitive Modulation of Receptor-Mediated Crossbridge Activation and Cytoskeletal Organization in Airway Smooth Muscle

  • Recent findings indicate that mechanical strain (deformation) exerted by the extracellular matrix modulates activation of airway smooth muscle cells. Furthermore, cytoskeletal organization in airway smooth muscle appears to be dynamic, and subject to modulation by receptor activation and mechanical strain. Mechanosensitive modulation of crossbridge activation and cytoskeletal organization may represent intracellular feedback mechanisms that limit the shortening of airway smooth muscle during bronchoconstriction. Recent findings suggest that receptor-mediated signal transduction is the primary target of mechanosensitive modulation. Mechanical strain appears to regulate the number of functional G-proteins and/or phospholipase C enzymes in the cell membrane possibly by membrane trafficking and/or protein translocation. Dense plaques, membrane structures analogous to focal adhesions, appear to be the primary target of cytoskeletal regulation. Mechanical strain and receptor-binding appear to regulate the assembly and phosphorylation of dense plaque proteins in airway smooth muscle cells. Understanding these mechanisms may reveal new pharmacological targets for control1ing airway resistance in airway diseases.

  • The effects of histamine were investigated on the uterine smooth muscle motility in the pig. The results were summarized as fellows : 1. Histamine caused the contraction of the porcine uterine smooth muscle and the contractile responses increased between the concetration of histamine $10^{-8}$ and $10^{-5}$ M with a dose-dependent manner. 2. The contractile response Induced by histamine ($10^{-6}$ M) was completely blocked by pretrevatment with $H_1$-histaminergic receptor blocker, pyrilamine($10^{-6}$ M) 3. The contractile response induced by histamine($10^{-6}$ M) was increased by pretreatment with $H_2$-histaminergic receptor blocker, cimetidine($10^{-6}$ M) From these results, it was concluded that the effects of uterine smooth muscle by histamine were the contraction mediated by $H_1$-histaminergic receptor and the relaxation mediated by $H_2$-histaminergic receptor in pig.
