Purpose: The suicide rate of adolescents in Korea is increasing annually. Therefore, this research was done to identify the suicide attempt rate of middle and high school students and to identify factors that influence suicidal attempts. Methods: The Korea Youth Health Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (2007) was used as data. Discriminant analysis and logistic regression were performed to analyze the data depending on gender to consider the gender difference in assessing the influence of each independent variable on suicidal attempts. Results: Discriminant analysis according on gender showed that 13 factors correlated with suicidal attempts for boys, and 20 factors for girls. The most highly correlated factors were smoking, depression and inhalation experience. For inhalation experience, boys had 2.7 times higher possibility of suicide attempts (95% CI 1.8-3.0) and girls, a 2.4 times higher possibility (95% CI 1.7-3.5). Conclusion: The results of the study indicate a need to classify adolescents for expectation of suicide risk and high danger for suicidal attempts through, and introduce suicide prevention programs for these adolescents. In particular, it is necessary to start intervention with students who smoke, have sexual and inhalation experiences and high levels of depression.
Objectives: The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of oral health belief and metabolic syndrome on CPITN. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 847 adult visitors over 20 years old in Busan from August 1 to December 31, 2011. Except incomplete answers, 776 data were analyzed by t-test, one way ANOVA, and logistic regression analysis using SPSS 20.0 program. The questionnaire comprised general characteristics of the subjects, oral health behavior, and metabolic syndrome related risk factors. Results: There was statistically significant difference of an oral health belief rating between the groups receiving oral health education. Community periodontal index had statistically significant difference depending on smoking and waist circumference. To analyze related factors of community periodontal index, multiple logistic regression analysis was performed. As the final outcome, gender, age, benefit, salience, scaling experience, experience of oral health education, and related factors and metabolic syndrome were shown to impact on significant influence (p<0.05). Conclusions: Thus, To manage the effective oral health, it is necessary to control the factors of metabolic syndrome and oral health.
Objectives: In recent years, pregnancy rate among female adolescents has increased and caused a variety of physical and social problems. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate sexual behavior, delinquent behavior, and pregnancy rate among Korean female adolescents. Methods: In light of the growing interest in adolescent pregnancy, this study conducted a web-based survey, titled "The 2006 Youth Health Risk Behavior Survey." The Korean Center for Disease Control (KCDC) collected questionnaire responses from 34,200 young women. The collected data were analyzed through chi-square test and logistic regression using SPSS Win 14.0 version. Results: This study analyzed main factors, which can predict pregnant experience. The statistic results showed two types of the predicting factors: (1) personal factors: sexual relations after drinking (odds 25.1), Narcotic drug taking (odds 13.0), sexual violence act (odds 7.0), part-time job(odds 2.5), drinking, smoking ; and (2) environmental factors: stepfather(odds 4.2) and natural mother. Conclusion: The influential factor identification for predicting pregnancy rate is important to develop an effective education program for preventing the adolescent pregnancy. The education programs with referring to the identified factors can contribute to reducing the unwilling pregnancy rate of young woman.

The rate of smoking among crew members has shown gradual decrease with 50.3% smoking in 1983 to 33.6% in 1993. Among $41{\sim}50$ age group the rate has shown a decrease from 20.9% to 13.3% In those group over age 51 it decreased from 25.5% to 16.6%. But group below age 40 were within the range of 3.6~3.8% with no significant change in the rate of smoking. 3. Body Mass Index in age group over 51 was slightly higher than other age groups. On the whole, BMI over 25 was not found. 4. The total cholesterol levels of those below age 40 were $196.9{\pm}38.5mg/dl,\;216.2{\pm}39.2mg/dl$ in ages $41{\sim}50$, and $225.1{\pm}42.5mg/dl$ in age group over 51. No significant difference was found among age groups. 5. HDL-cholesterol levels of over age 50 were higher than other age group and ranged from $40{\sim}55mg/dl$. 6. LDL-cholesterol levels of those over 51 were $126.7{\pm}37.7mg/dl$ higher than other age groups. But there were no significant changes in all age during 10 years of follow up. 7. Cardiac index of age group below age 40 was 3.8, 4.3 in age group $41{\sim}50$ and 4.5 in those over age 51 group. No significant changes among groups were found during the follow up period. 8. Triglyceride levels of age group below age 40 was $142.2{\pm}70.1,\;167.3{\pm}77.5$ in age group of $41{\sim}50$ and $113.6{\pm}897$ in age group over 50 showing that triglyceride levels increased with age. No significant changes in pattern were noted.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting subjective oral symptoms according to the gender of youth from multi-cultural families in Korea using data from the 14th (2018) Korean Youth Health Behavior Survey.
