DC 저온플라즈마를 이용한 디젤엔진 유해 배기가스 저감에 관한 실험적 연구 (The Experimental Study on the Removal of Diesel Engine Pollutant Emissions Using DC Non-Thermal-Plasma(NTP))

  • The diesel engine exhaust gas is know as one of the causes to produce photochemical smog, which causes damage on environmental. However, due to the high thermal efficiency and low carbon dioxide emission, the usage of a diesel engine is prevailed. In this study, the DC non-thermal plasma technology used to the particulate matter (PM) aftertreatment. The exhaust gas characteristics and energy density were investigated on the dynamometer test bed and chassis dynamometer with CVS-75 mode in a passenger diesel car. It was reported that the smoke removal efficiency has around the 70% in the dynamometer test with 80W energy consumption and the PM removal efficiency has the 68% in the real car test. The NOx also reduced the 20% according to electrode type respectively. Considering these results, plasma technology is one of the ways to simultaneously removing method the particulate matter (PM) and NOx.

일렬관군에서의 난류 후류특성에 관한 연구 (Turbulent Wake Flow around Tubes in Single Row Tube Banks)

  • 본 연구에서는 격자관군(in-line tube banks)과 엇갈림관군(staggered tube banks)에서의 유동특성을 해명하기 위한 기초로서, 일렬관군에 대해 유동특성을 통계적으로 조사한다. 이를 위해, 먼저 유동의 가시화와 관의 표면압력 측정실험이 행해진다. 또한, 통계적 기법의 도입을 통하여 관 주위의 평균속도, 난류강도, 파워 스펙트럼 밀도함수, 스트로홀수(strouhal number), 자기상관계수, 활률 밀도함수 등의 측정이 수행된다.

  • The markers for Environmental Tobacco Smoke(ETS) a.e necessary to obtain, to interpretate and to provide the data of quantitative exposure assessment. The purpose of this research is to evaluate Indoor environment using the concentration of ETS and the correlations between markers(RSP, nicotine, 3-EP) and environmental conditions(smoking density, ventilation rate). The mean ACH(air change per hour) in smoking rooms showed non-compliance with ASHRAE standard value. The concentrations of RSP, 3-EP, nicotine showed log-normal distributions, and became different statistically depending on smoking condition(p<0.01). The geometric mean concentration of RSP in smoking room was 441.7 ${\mu}g/m^3$ that is far exceeded environmental standard(150 ${\mu}g/m^3$). The correlation coefficients between RSP and SI, 3-EP and SI, and Nicotine and SI were 0.67, 0.84, 0.74 respectively. The correlation coefficient between nicotine and 3-EP, Nicotine and RSP, and RSP and 3-EP were 0.76, 0.78, 0.57 respectively.

  • The purpose of the study is development and investigation about basic performance of the system operation on a dual fueled cogeneration system(CGS), which is operated with biogas and gas oil. As often seen in dual fueled CGS performance, the electric generating efficiency was obtained about 26□. Methane contained in the biogas could not bum completely at lower load, and it was discharged into exhaust gas. Considerable amount of the methane burned in the exhaust pipe, and the heat recovery ratio was 42□ on heat balance. As a result, the total heat efficiency, which is a summation of generating efficiency and heat recovery efficiency reached to about 70□. The supply of biogas into the engine reduces smoke density and NOx concentration in exhaust gas. At lower load, methane burned slowly and large portion of it was discharged without burning. Therefore the measures are desirable that promotes combustion of methane at lower load.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance of swirl combustion chamber diesel engine by changing the jet passage area and its angle, the depth and shape of the piston top cavity(main chamber). The performance of diesel engine with newly changed swirl combustion chamber was tested through the experimental conditions as engine speed, load and injection timing etc. The test results were compared and analyzed. The rate of fuel consumption was affected significantly by the jet passage area at the high speed and load, by the depth of the piston top cavity at the low speed and load. The exhaust smoke density and exhaust gas temperature depended sensitively on variation of the injection timing rather than the shape of the combustion chamber within the experimental conditions.

  • The performance of a direct-injection type diesel engine often depends on the shape of combustion chamber, strength of swirl or squish, the number of nozzle holes, etc. This is of course because the process of combustion in the cylinder was affected by the mixture formation process. In this paper, the relation betweeen the flame progress and the performance of engine was clarified by changing variously the combustion process in cylinder with a special method, and thus the measures for improving the combustion were indirectly examined. Namely it was investigated what effect the flame progress in cylinder, which was varied with the locality of the lean premixture injected by the auxiliary injection method using an auxiliary injection nozzle in advance at the place where main spray was injected later, has on the engine output, the exhaust smoke density and the NO concentration in exhaust gas.

  • It is mainly due to the toxic gases, produced from the material combustion, threatens human body in case of urban railway car like subway which passes through underground tunnel. In the field of railway industry, fire accidents was not frequent but occurs in each country and, the causes was investigated. The advanced country established the test standard (e.g., BS, EN) to measure the toxic gases quantitatively and, have applied to enhance the fire safety of railway car. We must also follow the procedures to use gangway material for railway car as stated the Safety regulation for the urban railway car. In this study, various gangway materials(silicon, synthtic rubber, soaltapulin) are used to investigate element of toxic gases when the fire occurs. The amount of toxic gases measured from the ISO 5659 chamber using cone heater was measured and compared the results for each materials.

  • CEN/TS 45545 is Europe consolidation standard for fire safety on railway behicles. This is based on the International Union of Railways(UIC) and different European countries. It is intended to protect passengers and staff in railway in the event of a fire on board. It will be prepared in 2012. Based on this consolidate standard, they are going to make single market, for raising technical competitiveness, technical innovation and globalization of that standard. For this reason, European academies, manufacturers, and sub-manufacturers confer and stady animated about CEN/TS 45545. In Korea, get out the safety assessment for ues incombustible interior material, the needs of quantitative analysis on fire protection, demand on recognition of fire protection scenario, and define about fire load analysis are becomin more and more important. Therefore, this paper will estimate and compare Flammability, Smoke Density, Toxicity Index( this is the key point for appraised fire safety performance of material) between CEN/TS45545 and fire standards on railway vehicle. Then suggest criteria for fire safety on railway vehicles.

  • 본 연구에서는 목분 및 고밀도 폴리에틸렌(HDPE) 복합체의 연소시 화재위험성을 살펴보기 위하여 연기밀도 실험장치와 연소가스 측정장치를 이용하여 연기밀도 특성 및 CO 발생량을 살펴보았다. 또한 난연제 4종류를 첨가한 목분-HDPE 복합체와의 발연특성을 비교 분석함으로써 난연제의 억연효과를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 무기난연제인 수산화마그네슘(MDH)을 함유한 복합체가 가장 낮은 최대연기밀도(Dm)값을 나타내었으며 CO 발생량 또한 가장 낮았다.

  • A PIV(Particle Imaging Velocimetry) diagnostic technique for the evaluation of the flow characteristics in refrigerator is introduced. Smoke particles of which density is small enough to follow up the air flow are used for visualization of the air flows in the refrigerators. A rectangular room model is tested for the verifications of the dignostic technique. By evaluating the turbulent intensity and the deviation value of the turbulent intensity distribution that were obtained from PIV results, an optimal ventilating condition is suggested. The constructed technique is used for the diagnostics on the flow of an actual refrigerator. It has experimentally proved that the present technique is able to evaluate the ventilation conditions of refrigerators.
