In this paper, we propose a method to reduce age distortion in facial expression image generation using StyleGAN Encoder. The facial expression image generation process first creates a face image using StyleGAN Encoder, and changes the expression by applying the learned boundary to the latent vector using SVM. However, when learning the boundary of a smiling expression, age distortion occurs due to changes in facial expression. The smile boundary created in SVM learning for smiling expressions includes wrinkles caused by changes in facial expressions as learning elements, and it is determined that age characteristics were also learned. To solve this problem, the proposed method calculates the correlation coefficient between the smile boundary and the age boundary and uses this to introduce a method of adjusting the age boundary at the smile boundary in proportion to the correlation coefficient. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method, the results of an experiment using the FFHQ dataset, a publicly available standard face dataset, and measuring the FID score are as follows. In the smile image, compared to the existing method, the FID score of the smile image generated by the ground truth and the proposed method was improved by about 0.46. In addition, compared to the existing method in the smile image, the FID score of the image generated by StyleGAN Encoder and the smile image generated by the proposed method improved by about 1.031. In non-smile images, compared to the existing method, the FID score of the non-smile image generated by the ground truth and the method proposed in this paper was improved by about 2.25. In addition, compared to the existing method in non-smile images, it was confirmed that the FID score of the image generated by StyleGAN Encoder and the non-smile image generated by the proposed method improved by about 1.908. Meanwhile, as a result of estimating the age of each generated facial expression image and measuring the estimated age and MSE of the image generated with StyleGAN Encoder, compared to the existing method, the proposed method has an average age of about 1.5 in smile images and about 1.63 in non-smile images. Performance was improved, proving the effectiveness of the proposed method.
This study was designed to investigate the effect of missing teeth, prosthesis and malalignment on the smile. The full smile photographs of 145 Korean adults(male 114 : female 31) were taken and classified by the lip pattern, the relationship between the lip and the teeth, and the number of teeth displayed in a smile. Besides, the esthetic smile score were estimated by five dentists. Obtained data were compared and analyzed. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The esthetic level of missing teeth group and malaligned group was lower than that of the normal group. 2. The esthetic level of prosthesis group had no difference with that of the normal group. 3. The Number of teeth displayed in a smile had the most effect on the esthetic level in each experimental group.
Purpose: Teeth are generally exposed when people smiling. Moreover, the exposed teeth and soft tissue when smiling becomes an important guideline for esthetically prosthetic restoration. This research is to compare and find out differences of Korean young men's smile living in presence and twenty years ago. Materials and methods: Subjects, 100 young men (50 male and 50 female), were required about several aspects; normally developed physical condition, no psychological or genetic disorders, a fine face with no loss of teeth, no experience in orthodontic or prosthetic treatment, relatively normal occlusion, aged between 20-29. The photos of the subject at rest position and front face when fully smiled were taken three times. 100 photos (50 male and 50 female) were chosen at random from the 240 university students' smile photos taken by Yoon and his colleagues in 1991. By Hulsey's method of measuring smile, several factors; the change of upper lip curvature, the change of the relation between the upper lip and teeth, parallelism between Mx. incisor and lower lip, contact relation between Mx. incisor and lower lip and teeth displayed in a smile, were measured and analyzed. Meanwhile, ten dentists assessed aesthetic evaluation about men and women's smile for twice and recorded and compared smile score. The -test (P<.05) was used to compare the measured value. The difference of smile score was analyzed by t-test (P<.05). Results: The smile score calculated in 2011 (60.22) was higher than that of 1991 (52.80). Among five measurement categories, the noticeable difference was distinguished from two factors; the change of upper lip curvature and contact relation between Mx. incisor and lower lip. Conclusion: The Korean young men's smile has been considerably improved for twenty years. And it is found that the change of upper lip curvature plays an important role, that is, the smile formed with an ascended labial commissure has been increased significantly.
This study was designed to investigate the correlation between the degree of knowledge in regards to the importance of oral health and the smile scores as well as the correlation between their actual oral conditions and smile scores. The author surveyed the knowledge and the actual oral health condition of the subjects, 150 high school students (80 males and 70 females), and their frontal pictures were taken when they had full smiles. After evaluation of the smiles of the subjects by five dentists, the results were analysed. This study showed that there was neither a correlation between the smile score and the knowledge of oral health nor the actual oral condition. The investigation showed that the actual oral condition and care was performed well even if there were some wrong answers in the questionnaire, which asked about proper oral health. In conclusion, the smile could be related to the repetition of the habit of smiling rather than being related to the knowledge of oral health or their actual oral condition.
This paper presents an automated visualization system, called StyleVisualizer, which checks the coding style of source codes and visualizes the coding style score using facial expression. Our system represents some kinds of facial expressions according to the evaluated score of the code style: A smile face means that the source code follows coding standards correctly. To measure the effectiveness of the StyleVisualizer, some experiments have been conducted on two class students in an applied computer course. In the experiments, we have compared the error ratio for obeying the coding standards when the StyleVisualizer was used or not. According to the experimental results, the error ratio with the StyleVisualizer was reduced above 30% than that without it. We expect that our system can encourage the students to obey the coding standards by providing the feedback of the visualized faces corresponding to their programs, resulting in high readable programs.
Objectives : Purpose of this research is to determined the general knowledge on oral health and the usage of oral hygiene products in the orthodontic patients and try to provide an appropriate oral hygiene products for the patients. Methods : Orthodontic patients who visited a dental clinic in Daejeon were selected and data from 352 patients were collected. Questionnaire based on survey was conducted from 1st of March to 30th in 2011 and all the data was analysed by using SPSS statistical program (VER 15.0). Frequency analysis, $x^2$ test, T-test and the amount of diurnal variance analysis (one-way ANOVA) were also used. After that, scheffe's post-test method was conducted. Results : According to the general characteristics of oral health care knowledge score was $2.87{\pm}0.60$, the attitude score was $2.96{\pm}0.57$. toothbrush replacement cycle were less than 3 months (p=0.007, p=0.000) and frequency of brushing one day more than three times higher in patients with knowledge to help attitude. according to the sex, age, and duration of orthodontic treatment with oral hygiene devices of usage was higher in the calibration toothbrush usage, awareness was higher in the interdental toothbrushes. according to the type of orthodontic devices from the oral hygiene devices usage, removable group was the orthodontic toothbrush and electric toothbrush group were highest in the 'unknown', the fixed group was orthodontic toothbrush(67.3%) and electric toothbrushes(40.8%) was higher in the usage. Patients who used oral hygiene devices such as orthodontic tooth brush, interdental brush, electric toothbrush, water pik and fern solution showed wider knowledge on oral health care and oral hygiene devices compared to patients who answered as does not aware of oral hygiene devices and never used these products before. Conclusions : Orthodontic patient's oral health attitudes, knowledge, and oral hygiene devices usage are the general characteristics of the highest in the orthodontic toothbrush usage, awareness was higher in the interdental brush. Water pik and fern solution, rubber and gingival interdental stimulator turned massage does not use or low. Based on results from research, overall orthodontic patients who visited a dental clinic had low awareness and usage of oral hygiene devices. Therefore, it is required to educate general publics and the orthodontic patients and also promote the importance of usage of oral hygiene devices.
