The Recently there has been a growing interest in health care due to the COVID-19 situation. In this paper, we intend to develop a healthcare monitoring system to provide users with smart healthcare systems in line with the healthcare 3.0 era. The system consists of a wireless network between various sensors, Android smartphones, and OLEDs using Bluetooth, and through this, a health care monitoring system capable of collecting user's biometric information and managing health by receiving data values of sensors connected to Arduino. In conclusion, the user's BPM value was calculated using the heart rate sensor, and the exercise intensity can be adjusted through this. In addition, a step derivation algorithm is implemented using an acceleration sensor, and calorie consumption can be measured using the step and weight values. As such, the heart rate, step count, calorie consumption data can be transmitted to a smartphone application through a Bluetooth module and output, and can be output to an OLED for users who are not easy to access the smartphone. This healthcare monitoring system can be applied to various groups and technologies.

According to the rapid population aging and the increase of the number of people with chronic diseases, the digital healthcare services are getting more and more attention. Recent improvement in information technology has expanded the consumers of digital healthcare service from the patients to the general population. Therefore, there is a growing need for studies on the status and needs of digital healthcare users in general. This study conducted a survey of 1,000 people on their perception and attitude about four areas of digital healthcare: internet health information service, smartphone healthcare application, wearable device, and u-health. The questionnaire asked the respondents about their past experience of using digital healthcare services, the purpose of use and point to be improved. The respondents were also asked about new type and contents of digital healthcare service which they would like to use. The survey results will help developers of digital healthcare service by improving their understanding and identifying unmet needs from the general population.

Fall-related injuries are the most common cause of accidental death for the elderly and the most frequent work-related injuries in construction sites. Due to the growing popularity of smartphones, there has been a number of research work related to the use of sensors embedded in the smartphone for fall detection. Falls can be detected easily by measuring the magnitude and direction of acceleration vectors. In general, the direction of the acceleration vector does not show the object movement, but the velocity vector directly indicates the tangential direction in which the object is moving. In this paper, we proposed a new method for computing the fall direction based on the characteristics of the velocity vector extracted from the accelerometer.
The next generation mobile computing technology is recently attracting attention that smartphone and wearable device imbedded with various sensors are being deployed in the world. Existing activity and posture recognition research can be divided into two different ways considering feature of one's movement. While activity recognition focuses on catching distinct pattern according to continuous movement, posture recognition focuses on sudden change of posture and body orientation. There is a lack of research constructing a system mixing two separate patterns which could be applied in real world. In this paper, we propose a method to use both smartphone and wearable device to recognize activity and posture in the same time. To use smartphone and wearable sensor data together, we designed a pre-processing method and constructed recognition model mixing signal vector magnitude and orientation pattern features of vertical and horizontal. We considered cycling, fast/slow walking and running activities, and postures such as standing, sitting, and laying down. We confirmed the performance and validity by experiment, and proved the feasibility in real world.

This paper presents the development of a racing game by controlling multiple smartphones based on ad hoc communication. The proposed racing game by the smartphone-based control interface does not require any specific game console or remote controller. Thus, any multiple users who have smartphones are able to play the game in a monitor at the same time. In addition, the developed game is applicable to actual mobile robots in cases where the positions of all robots are measured, since its game unit is a mobile robot model with a differential drive. An experimental result shows that the racing game in a PC can be realized by the proposed communication interface through four iPhones based on acceleration sensors.

Health care has attracted a lot of attention, recently due to an increase in life expectancy and interest in health. Various biometric data of the user are collected by using the air pressure sensor, gyro sensor, acceleration sensor, and heart rate sensor to perform the Smart Health Care Activity Tracker function. Basically, smartphone application is made and tested for biometric data collection, but the Arduino platform and bio-signal measurement sensor are used to confirm the accuracy of the measured value of the smartphone. Use the Google Maps API to set user goals and provide guidance on the location of the user and the points the user wants. Also, the basic configuration of the main UI is composed of the screen of the camera, and it is possible for the user to confirm the forward while using the application, so that accident prevention is possible.
Falls are the main cause of serious injuries and accidental deaths in people over the age of 65. Due to widespread adoption of smartphones, there has been a growing interest in the use of smartphones for detecting human behavior and activities. Modern smartphones are equipped with a wide variety of sensors such as an accelerometer, a gyroscope, camera, GPS, digital compass and microphone. In this paper, we introduce a new method that determines the fall direction of human subjects by analyzing the three axis components of acceleration vector.

Eco-driving of vehicles today presents an advantage that aims to reduce energy consumption and limit CO2 emissions. The application for this option is possible to older vehicles. In this paper, we propose an efficient implementation for IoT (Internet of Things) system for controlling vehicle components that affect the quality of driving (acceleration, braking, clutch, gear change) via Smartphone using Wi-Fi and BLE as communication protocol. The user can see in real-time data from sensors that control driver action on vehicle driving systems such as acceleration, braking, and vehicle shifting through a web interface. Thanks to this communication, the user can control his driving quality and, hence, eco-driving can be achieved

A smartphone (SMP) includes a MEMS sensor that can record 3-components motions and has a wireless network device to transmit data in live. These features and relatively low maintenance costs are the advantage of using SMPs as an auxiliary seismic observation network. Currently, 279 SMPs are monitoring seismic motions. In this study, we compare the SMP records with the seismic station (SS) records to validate SMP records. The data used for comparison are records for five earthquakes that occurred in 2019, which are 321 SS data recorded by the Korea Meteorological Administration and the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources and 145 recorded by SMPs. The analysis shows that the event-term corrected average residual of the SMP MEMS sensor records is 0.59 which indicating that the peak horizontal acceleration by SMP is 1.8 factor bigger than the peak ground acceleration by SS. In addition, the residuals tend to decrease as the installation floor of the smartphone MEMS sensor increases, which is the similar trend with response spectra from SS.

Jump-rope is a simple and effective exercise, but its intensive exercise load and monotonous pattern make it difficult to perform consistent workout. On the other hand, jumping rope accompanies large amount of kinetic energy which can be converted into electrical energy. In this study, we designed and implemented a self-powered jump-rope which can support the low-power embedded Bluetooth system inside it. The embedded system wirelessly transmits the acceleration data measured during jumping-rope exercise to a smartphone. We also developed a smartphone app which can count the number of jumps and provide real-time feedback with sound and animated graphic effects in a game context. Pilot test using the prototype smart jump-rope verified that it can be useful to motivation for the jump-rope exercise and make the exercise more effective by providing users with precise information about their exercise. We expect that the developed self-powered jump-rope will change the exercise from an intensive physical activity into electricity-generating fun experience combined with smartphone game, which maximize the benefit of the consistent jump-rope exercise.
