The data were obtained from 4th waves of KCYPS(Korean Children Youth Panel Study), and 1,686 4th graders in elementary schools who have smartphone were analysed. To achieve the purpose, this study executed frequency analysis, descriptive statistic, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis through SPSS 21.0. The results of this study are as follows: First, the higher children's smartphone addiction level, the higher children's aggression goes. Second, parents' supervision, affection, neglect have moderating effects on the relationship between children's smartphone addiction and aggression which means parenting styles could reduce children's aggression despite serious smartphone addiction. Based on these results, this study suggests that the combination of preventive discipline of smartphone addiction and parental education program is needed to reduce children's aggression which is main factor of bullying. In addition, this study suggests the establishment of special arrangement such as 'shut down' for smartphone addiction prevention.

  • Sleep quality among university students is important, especially for their physical and psychosocial wellbeing. This study was conducted to investigate the level of smartphone addiction and stress among university students, and to estimate the effects of those variables on sleep quality. Data were collected from August 1st to 14th, 2018 using an online self-report survey to measure demographics including daily activity and indulgence foods, smartphone addiction, perceived stress scale, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (Korean version). Collected data were analyzed by independent t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. The results showed that smartphone addiction, stress, and sleep quality had positive correlation in each relation. Multiple regression analysis showed that the predictors of sleep quality were smartphone addiction (${\beta}=0.041$, p=.001) and stress level (${\beta}=0.177$, p=.001), and the regression equation explained 24.9% of sleep quality. Therefore, higher levels of smartphone addiction and stress were associated with lower sleep quality. Based on these results, it is necessary to reduce unnecessary use of smartphone usage, as well as to develop and apply programs for university students to improve their sleep quality.

  • Smart devices have become an essential part of human life; however, excessive dependency on these devices has become a serious issue for both children and adults. In this study, a research model was developed which hypothesized that mothers' smartphone addiction influences children's media dependency, and that this effect is sequentially mediated by mothers' work-family strains and parental monitoring. To test this hypothesis, an analysis of data from the 13th Wave of Panel Study on Korean Children (PSKC), conducted in 2020, was performed. The data were collected from 726 children (359 boys, 367 girls) with an average age of 12.23 years (SD=.30). The analysis was conducted using SPSS 27.0 and Process MACRO Ver. 4.2. The results were as follows. Maternal smartphone addiction increased mothers' work-family strains, which in turn lowered the level of parental monitoring, which was associated with an increase in children's media dependency. Furthermore, mothers' smartphone addiction had a partial mediation effect on children's media dependency. In sum, this study revealed that the mothers' smartphone addiction increased children's media dependency, and this effect was sequentially mediated by an increase in mothers' work-family strains and a decrease in parental monitoring. This study verifies that mothers' smart device usage as well as their working environment has a significant effect on children's media dependency. Therefore, to increase parental monitoring of children's media usage, mothers' work-family strains need to be reduced.
