SmartCrown is a system to control the plate crown by shifting the sine-shaped work rolls in the axial direction. The control range of the plate crown depends on a depth of sine-shaped roll profile because the roll radius varies continuously along the axial direction. When the roll profile is changed to improve the control range, the contact stress between the work roll and the back-up roll also changes. In the current study, the contact stress for various profiles and rolling conditions were analyzed using the finite element method and compared with results from Hertzian contact theory. A submodel method is used to increase the accuracy of the finite element analysis. The analysis results showed that the maximum increase in the contact stress was only 53MPa, so it is anticipated that no back-up roll spalling will occur.

Drone imaging, which is more cost-effective and controllable compared to airborne LiDAR, requires a low-cost camera and is used for capturing color images. From the overlapped color images, we produced two high-resolution digital surface models over different test areas. After segmentation, we performed tree identification according to the method proposed by , and computed the tree height and the canopy crown size. Compared with the field measurements, the computed results for the tree height in test area 1 (coniferous trees) were found to be accurate, while the results in test area 2 (deciduous coniferous trees) were found to be underestimated. The RMSE of the tree height was 0.84 m, and the width of the canopy crown was 1.51 m in test area 1. Further, the RMSE of the tree height was 2.45 m, and the width of the canopy crown was 1.53 m in test area 2. The experiment results validated the use of drone images for the extraction of a tree structure.
Objective: This retrospective cohort study aimed to assess and compare the accuracy of 3 different Invisalign® treatment regimens in terms of variations of aligner change frequency and type of aligner material in achieving maxillary dental buccal expansion. Methods: Altogether, 120 adult patients whose treatment involved maxillary dental expansion with Invisalign® were included. The patients were divided into 3 groups, with each group comprising 40 patients as follows: SmartTrack® 1-week changes (ST1), SmartTrack® 2-week changes (ST2), and EX30® 2-week changes (EX2). The groups were assessed by comparing actual changes achieved with those prescribed by ClinCheck®. The rates of clinically significant inaccuracies (CSI) observed for buccal expansion (≥ 0.5 mm) and buccolingual inclination (≥ 2°) during expansion were then determined. Results: In terms of expansion, the ST1 group demonstrated the highest CSI rate at all tooth levels, whereas the ST2 group had the lowest rate of CSI and the lowest mean inaccuracy for each tooth level. In terms of buccolingual inclination, the ST1 group had the highest CSI rate across all tooth levels, whereas the EX2 group had the lowest CSI rate at all tooth levels except for the canine level where the ST2 group had the lowest CSI rate. A tendency toward overexpression of buccal crown inclination, and underexpression of buccal expansion was observed at all tooth levels. Conclusions: Two-week aligner change regimens offer improved accuracy compared with 1-week aligner changes. SmartTrack® 2-week changes were the most accurate for buccal expansion, whereas EX30® 2-week changes were the most accurate for buccolingual inclination.

Recently, as the development of underground spaces has become active due to rapid urbanization and population density, interest in the ground behavior according to the construction of underground spaces is increasing. In large cities with high population density and many buildings, ground subsidence has a great impact on structures and there may be a risk of collapse, so the analysis of ground behavior due to underground construction is essential. Previous studies have been conducted on the subsidence pattern of the surface and the deformation of the tunnel when constructing the tunnel, but analysis has rarely been conducted by using actual topographic information. Therefore, this study analyzed the difference in ground behavior between the actual topography and the flat topography. As a result, it was confirmed that ground settlement occurs at higher elevations, such as in mountainous topography, and when the numerical analysis is performed considering topographical information, the crown settlement of the tunnel is up to about approx. It showed a difference of 10 mm, and it was found that the sensitivity was less in the case of displacement of tunnel wall compared to the crown settlement and ground settlement. The numerical analysis considering the actual GIS-based topographic information presented in this study can be used to obtain more accurate surface subsidence data to understand the behavior of the upper structure due to tunnel excavation.

In this paper, a closed hydroponics device was designed and fabricated to grow and harvest plants in a small space for safe consumption, which enables horticultural activities that are difficult to perform due to space constraints from urbanization. This device also aimed to minimize the air pollution of crops. To obtain data for the optimal growth conditions for crops in this intelligent plant-growing system, sensors were used to measure and control the growth conditions. To investigate the optimal growth conditions, blue lettuce and crown daisy were selected as representative crops. The growth rates were comparatively analyzed through four experiments for each plant. This hydroponics device was used to collect data on growth rates that are altered depending on cultivation conditions, which can then be used to study methods to control the growth rate of crops.
The aims of this study were to compare the shaping effect and safety between single length technique recommended by manufacturer and crown-down technique using Mtwo rotary file and to present a modified method in use of Mtwo file. Sixty simulated root canal resin blocks were used. The canals were divided into three groups according to instrument and the manner of using methods. Each group had 20 specimens. Group MT was instrumented with single length technique of Mtwo, group MC was instrumented with crown-down technique of Mtwo and group PT was instrumented with crown-down technique of ProTaper. All of the rotary files used in this study were operated by an electric motor. The scanned canal images of before and after preparation were superimposed. These superimposed images were evaluated at apical 1 to 8 mm levels Angle changes were calculated. The preparation time, weight loss, instrument failure and binding, canal aberrations, and centering ratio were measured. Statistical analysis of the three experimental groups was performed with ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range tests for post-hoc comparison and Fisher's exact test was done for the frequency comparison. In total preparation time, group MT and group MC were less than group PT. In the aberrations, group MT had more elbows than those of group MC and group PT. The binding of group MC was least and group MT was less than group PT (P < 0.05). Under the condition of this study, crown-down technique using Mtwo rotary file is better and safer method than single length technique recommended by the manufacturer.

Due to the increase of the need for reliable high density information storage devices, the demand for precise machining of the slider in HDD is rapidly growing. The present fabrication process of slider bears some serious problems such as low yield ratio in mass production, which is mainly caused by inefficient machining processes in shaping camber and crown on the slider. In order to increase slider yield ratio in HDD, a new systematic machining process is proposed and developed in this work. This new machining process includes the use of magnetorheological (MR) fluid, a smart polishing material generally used for ultra-fine surface finishing of micro structures. It is shown that the process proposed in this work enables to make camber and crown pattern in the scale of few tens of nanometers. Experiment results shows that the MR polishing can be also used for shaping process of micro structures.

Purpose: The present study was undertaken to examine whether periodontal probe visibility (PV) accurately reflects gingival thickness (GT) and to identify factors affecting PV using cluster and multivariate analyses. Methods: The clinical characteristics of the maxillary central incisors (n=90 subjects) were examined. Clinical photographs, sex, PV, probing depth, gingival width, papilla height, GT as measured with an ultrasonic device, and the ratio of crown width to crown length were recorded. Multivariate analysis, using multinomial baseline-category logistic regression, was used to identify factors predictive of PV. Cluster analysis was used to identify gingival biotypes. Results: In the multivariate analysis, sex was the only significant predictor of PV (odds ratio, 6.48). Two clusters of subjects were created based on morphometric parameters. The mean GT among cluster A subjects was significantly lower than that among cluster B subjects (P=0.015). No significant difference was found between cluster A and B subjects in terms of PV score (P=0.583). Conclusions: Periodontal PV was not associated with GT as measured directly using an ultrasonic device. Sex was a highly significant predictor of periodontal PV. GT was found to be correlated with morphological characteristics of the periodontium.

Physical experiments were conducted to establish an empirical formula that predicts the wave force on the upside of the pavement behind crown wall of rubble mound seawall due to wave overtopping as well as the uplift force on the downside of the pavement. The experiments were performed by different conditions of the parapet, water depth, relative freeboard, and thickness of the armour layer. Then, the wave force on the upside and downside of the pavement behind the crown wall was analyzed. The parameters that affect the wave overtopping force and the uplift force were identified and empirical formulae were suggested for evaluating the forces on the pavement.

Drone images with high spatial resolution are emerging as an alternative to previous studies with extraction limits in high density forests. Individual tree in the dense forests were extracted from drone images. To detect the individual tree extracted through the image segmentation process, the image segmentation results were compared between the combination of DSM and all R,G,B band and the combination of DSM and R,G,B band separately. The changes in the tree density of a deciduous forest was experimented by time and image. Especially the image of May when the forests are dense, among the images of March, April, May, the individual tree extraction rate based on the trees surveyed on the site was 50%. The analysis results of the width of crown showed that the RMSE was less than 1.5m, which was the best result. For extraction of the experimental area, the two sizes of medium and small trees were extracted, and the extraction accuracy of the small trees was higher. The forest tree volume and forest biomass could be estimated if the tree height is extracted based on the above data and the DBH(diameter at breast height) is estimated using the relational expression between crown width and DBH.
