In South Korea, there have been many studies on efficient building-energy management using renewable energy facilities in single zero-energy houses or buildings. However, such management was limited due to spatial and economic problems. To realize a smart zero-energy city, studying efficient energy integration for the entire city, not just for a single house or building, is necessary. Therefore, this study was conducted in the eco-friendly energy town of Chungbuk Innovation City. Chungbuk successfully realized energy independence by converging new and renewable energy facilities for the first time in South Korea. This study analyzes energy data collected from public buildings in that town every minute for a year. We propose a smart city building-energy management model based on the results that combine various renewable energy sources with grid power. Supervised learning can determine when it is best to sell surplus electricity, or unsupervised learning can be used if there is a particular pattern or rule for energy use. However, it is more appropriate to use reinforcement learning to maximize rewards in an environment with numerous variables that change every moment. Therefore, we propose a power distribution algorithm based on reinforcement learning that considers the sales of Energy Storage System power from surplus renewable energy. Finally, we confirm through economic analysis that a 10% saving is possible from this efficiency.

With the rapid development of both ubiquitous computing and the mobile internet, big data technology is gradually penetrating into various applications, such as smart traffic, smart city, and smart medical. In particular, smart medical, which is one core part of a smart city, is changing the medical structure. Specifically, it is improving treatment planning for various diseases. Since multiple treatment plans generated from smart medical have their own unique treatment costs, pollution effects, side-effects for patients, and so on, determining a sustainable strategy for treatment planning is becoming very critical in smart medical. From the sustainable point of view, this paper first presents a three-dimensional evaluation model for representing the raw medical data and then proposes a sustainable strategy for treatment planning based on the representation model. Finally, a case study on treatment planning for the group of "computer autism" patients is then presented for demonstrating the feasibility and usability of the proposed strategy.
Autonomous things system is a technology that judges and acts based on using surrounding information by itself, and it is evaluated as a future technology that can replace the current IoT technology. The current IoT technology is widely used from facility monitoring to machine control but it is shown weakness as a evaluation and prediction technique despite of smart city important technology. In this study, in order to confirm the application of the autonomous things technology, a monitoring system was installed on a real reservoir dam facility and long-term monitoring was performed that the measuring device itself judges and control as a facility monitoring technology. The autonomous things technology was confirmed during 19 months and it is possible to continuous measurement in the same way as current automated instrumentation. In addition, it was confirmed that the ICT device itself could to control autonomously measurement cycle according to the rainfall by itself.
Variety of data have been opened or connected by several levels of government. In smart city initiatives, open data become the source of a new business model. This paper is to foster ways of public open data (POD) by analyzing the start-up company that utilizes POD. In order to fulfill it, this paper adapts the case study research. Findings say that POD has potential to validate and further enrich the platform business. But to find which types of public open data are most prevalent is insufficient. To do this, it is more needed that sophisticated and many cases should be examined. However, this paper shows that platform business by using POD could lead to reduce the cost and increase the benefits for both providers and customers. From the findings, this paper shows that public open data has an important role not only to boost new venture creations which are prevalent ways of smart city but also to foster different platforms enabling new value capture and creation according to development of internet of things based on ICT technology.

In this study, cyclic loading tests were conducted on the precast concrete (PC) wide beam (WB)-column joints. Two beam-column joint specimens were fabricated with the arrangement and anchorage details of the reinforcing bars penetrating the beam and column as variables. Through a cyclic loading test, the lateral load-story drift ratio responses, seismic performance characteristics (e.g., ductility, overstrength factor), energy dissipation, strength and stiffness degradations of each specimen were compared and analyzed based on the various indices and the current structural codes (ACI 318-19 and ACI 374.1-05 report). In addition, the shear lag effect was confirmed through the gauge values of the PC beam, and the differences in seismic performance between the specimens were identified on that basis.

In this study, a series of cyclic loading tests were performed on viscoelastic dampers (VED) composed of viscoelastic polymer composite material and thin steel plates to observe the variation of the mechanical properties under different loading conditions. A mathematical model was developed based on the Kelvin-Voigt and Bouc-Wen models to formulate the nonlinear force-displacement relationship of the viscoelastic damper. The accuracy of the proposed mathematical model was verified using the data obtained from the tests. The mathematical model was applied to analyze a reinforced concrete framed structure retrofitted with viscoelastic dampers. Nonlinear dynamic analysis results showed that the average maximum inter-story drift ratios of the retrofitted structure met the target limit state after installing the VED. In addition, both the maximum and residual displacements were significantly reduced after the installation of the VED.
A smart city is a massive internet of things (IoT) environment, where all terminal devices are connected to a network to create and share information. In accordance with massive IoT environments, millions of IoT devices are connected, and countless data are generated in real time. However, since heterogeneous IoT devices are used, collecting the logs for each IoT device is difficult. Due to these issues, when an IoT device is invaded or is engaged in malicious behavior, such as infection with malware, it is difficult to respond quickly, and additional damage may occur due to information leakage or stopping the IoT device. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose identifying the attack technique used for initial access to IoT devices through MITRE ATT&CK, collect the logs that can be generated from the identified attack technique, and use them to identify the cause of malware infection.
This research proposed a particle swarm optimization (PSO) based seismic retrofit design of moment frame structures using a steel frame assembly. Two full scale specimens of the steel frame assembly with different corner details were attached to one-story RC frames for seismic retrofit, and the lateral load resisting capacities of the retrofitted frames subjected to cyclic loads were compared with those of a bare RC frame. The open source software framework Opensees was used to develop an analytical model for validating the experimental results. The developed analytical model and the optimization scheme were applied to a case study structure for economic seismic retrofit design, and its seismic performance was assessed before and after the retrofit. The results show that the developed steel frame assembly was effective in increasing seismic load resisting capability of the structure, and the PSO algorithm could be applied as convenient optimization tool for seismic retrofit design of structures.
