  • The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the adaptation, Self-esteem and self-control of college students to smart addiction. We surveyed 380 university students in Gwangju area. Data were analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis. Smart phone addiction according to general characteristics showed the lowest in fourth grade and high in health-related majors. Smart phone usage time was the lowest in less than 3 hours due to the actual usage of smart phone. School life adaptation, self-esteem, and self-control according to general characteristics were higher in satisfaction with college life and majors. The most influential factors on the addiction of smart phone were perceived smart phone addiction, and the self-esteem and self-control were more likely to be addicted to smart phone. Therefore, it is necessary to develop education and programs to enhance self-esteem and self-control of college students and to find ways to prevent smart phone addiction.

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate postural control strategies on smart phone use during gait in over 50-year-old adults. Method: 8 elderly subjects (age: $55.5{\pm}3.29yrs$, height: $159.75{\pm}4.20cm$, weight: $62.87{\pm}8.44kg$) and 10 young subjects (age: $23.8{\pm}3.19yrs$, height: $158.8{\pm}5.97cm$, weight: $53.6{\pm}5.6kg$) participated in the study. They walked at a comfortable pace in a gaitway of ~8 m while: 1) reading text on a smart phone, 2) typing text on a smart phone, or 3) walking without the use of a phone. Gait parameters and kinematic data were evaluated using a three-dimensional movement analysis system. Results: The participants read or wrote text messages they walked with: slower speed; lesser stride length and step width; greater flexion range of motion of the head; more flexion of the thorax in comparison with normal walking. Conclusion: Texting or reading message on a smart phone while walking may pose an additional risk to pedestrians' safety.

  • The main objective of this paper is to investigate why university students use their smart phones in class and to develop a predictive model of smart phone use behavior that consisted of perceived benefit, perceived cost, attitude, social effect, intention, and habit. The proposed model is tested using survey data collected from 120 university student smart phone users. PLS analysis show as following: At first, intention and habit are significant predictors of smart phone use behavior in class. Secondly, perceived benefit and perceived cost as well as attitude and social effect are the factors affecting smart phone usage in class.

  • This paper provides Bus Information System(BIS) implementation based on the Smart-phone APPs using GPS information. Nearly all of recent smart-phones are equipped with the GPS feature. Bus driver's smart-phone can send the position information using its GPS information periodically and on events. On receiving those information, servers can process those into the information that can be used by individual users and bus stop information panel. The proposed BIS based on smart-phone APPs is expected to be used publicly with the special process that enables the smart-phone APPs only in the specific bus.

  • In recent years, research on user's activity recognition using a smart phone has attracted a lot of attentions. A smart phone has various sensors, such as camera, GPS, accelerometer, audio, etc. In addition, smart phones are carried by many people throughout the day. Therefore, we can collect log data from smart phone sensors. The log data can be used to analyze user activities. This paper proposes an approach to inferring a user's physical activities based on the tri-axis accelerometer of smart phone. We propose recognition method for four activity which is physical activity; sitting, standing, walking, running. We have to convert accelerometer raw data so that we can extract features to categorize activities. This paper introduces a recognition method that is able to high detection accuracy for physical activity modes. Using the method, we developed an application system to recognize the user's physical activity mode in real-time. As a result, we obtained accuracy of over 80%.

  • Recently, the small-size mobile robots with remote-control are rapidly growth which market of mobile is increased in the world. Especially, the smart-phones are widely used for interface device in the small size of a mobile robot. The research goal is control system design which is applied to miniaturization of a mobile robot using smart-phone and it can be confirmed performance for designed system. Meanwhile, the fabrication of mini-mobile robot can also be remote-control operation through the WIFI performance of a smart-phone. The smart-phone is used to remote-control for robot operation which control data transmit to robot via the WIFI network. To drive the robot, we can observe by the smart-phone screen and it can easily adjust the robot drive condition and direction by smart-phone button. Consequentially, there was no malfunction and images were printed out well. However, in drive, because of blind spot, robot was bumped into obstacle. Therefore, the additional test is necessary to sensor for blind spot which sensor can be equipment to mobile robot. In addition, the experiment with robot object recognition is needed.

  • The development of mobile phone is growing everyday according to the change of our age. Most of all, the birth of smart phone has gotten lots of attentions. The Smart Phone has not only nalogue functions for calling and receiving but also has many multiple-service functions satisfying the contemporary digital needs. Due to the smart phone, people could access to various and plenty information simply by touching it. It was Sep. 2011 that the number of smart phone users began to be more than 15,000,000. That number stands for the turning point of digital revolution. In Korea, both of "Omnia" from Samsung and "i-phone" from Apple came into the market near the end of 2009. That time was so called the full-scale first smart-phone war, and thinking of the time, it could be named as the explosive growth of smart phones. We can predict that the smart phone will influence the real life of human beings not only the mobile phone market. In this way, the smart phone has come deeply into our life day by day. For instance, more people can be able to get the informations of their trip for their leisure and free weekends through the smart phone. Thus, our study, began with the theme of "Korean islands trip", will start in the relationship with the Application-Services, "Islands" utilizing web-pictures.

  • Contemporary smartphone competition is generally described as the battle between Apple's proprietary platform and Google's open platform. However, this competition is not limited within smartphone adoption itself. User's pre-adoption of one mobile platform via smartphone can be connected to the post-adoption of the same mobile platform based on the other smart devices (e.g. smart pad). In this study, we investigate whether user's preference to a certain platform is persistent over mobile ecology, from the pre-adoption of one smart device to the post-adoption of following devices. For this investigation, we adopt the dual-model as the ground theory, where post-adoption of IT product is explained by both dedication and constraint factors. The empirical testing first evidences that dual model works well as our research model for identifying the reasons of post-adoption. Next, we group our data into two parts in order to compare the switching behavior of iPhone users and Android phone users. iPhone users show much lower switching rate to Android based smart pads, while Android phone users show higher churn rate to iPad (49.3% : 96.3%). Especially, satisfaction showed much stronger effect than switching cost on the continuing intention of existing platform, when the analysis is given to the iPhone user's group. From this result, we can conjecture the relatively stronger loyalty of iPhone users. More managerial implications on the mobile platform strategy are driven.
