  • In this paper, we propose a smart automated warehouse to maximize space utilization. Previous elevator-type automatic warehouses were designed with a maximum payload of 100kg on trays, which has the problem of extremely limiting the number of pallets that can be loaded within the space. In this paper, we design a smart warehouse that can maximize space utilization with a maximum vertical stiffness of 300kg. As a result of the performance evaluation of the implemented warehouse, the maximum payload was 500.6kg, which satisfied the original design and requirements, the lifting speed was 0.5m/s, the operating noise of the device was 67.1dB, the receiving and forwarding time of the pallet was 36.92sec, the deflection amount was 4mm, and excellent performance was confirmed in all evaluation items. In addition, the PLC control method, which designs the control UI and control panel separately, was integrated into the PC system to improve interoperability and maintainability with various process management systems. In the future, we plan to develop it into a fully automatic smart warehouse by linking IoT sensor-based logistics robots.

  • Recently, as the importance of forced indoor living has increased in the untact era, the connection and relationship between space environments is increasing. That is, the smart interaction environment for providing services in various spaces collects and processes a number of surrounding environment information through various sensors to provide desired information according to the required place and time. In this environment, a new type of interaction paradigm is needed for the user to select and focus on environmental information. In this paper, we provide guidelines based on models and patterns for designing various interactions around space. Through interaction model-based technology, we provide guidelines for space-oriented interaction design. We propose an ideal interaction environment through guideline-based patterns and templates. Finally, by providing a space-oriented interaction environment suitable for smart interaction, users can freely obtain desired information.

  • This paper presents the concept of dynamically reconfigurable space by introducing smart building components. Thanks to the advances in ubiquitous computing and ITC technology, we are able to expect, in the near future, the aspects of future buildings which may transform their appearance and states to perform specific functions. In other words, it is certain that the building space will actively reconfigure itself to accommodate user's needs once we acquire proper technologies. Based on the assumption that building components may not be transformed through the magical process, but change its physical states (e.g. transparency, illumination, display contents, etc.) and functions of embedded devices (e.g. audio, actuators, sensors, etc.), we can envision a dynamically reconfigurable smart space. In order to conceptualize such spaces, critical surveys have been conducted on current works of leading architects. When the room needs to be used as a specific function room, the components need to change theirs states or to behave in a certain manner to create an optimum environment. Our model defines the relationships and elements to describe the mechanism of reconfigurable space. We expect this model provides a conceptual guideline for developing a smart building components based on spatial service scenarios. Therefore, a future smart spaces implemented by integrating various technologies are not designed in deterministic manner, so that spatial functions are expanded without constrained by physical existence.

  • This paper studies an automation problem of a heating, a ventilating, and an air conditioning (HVAC) for the development of smart space. The HVAC system is described by the fuzzy system for the stability analysis and the controller design. The linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) conditions are derived for the stabilization problem of the closed-loop system under the analog control. Also, it is required to digitally redesign the pre-designed the analog HVAC control system in order to accomplish the remote control via web. It is shown the this digital redesign problem can be converted to the convex optimization problem with the LMI constraints. An example is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The smart space is composed of the wire and/or wireless network, multi-sensor-based environment, and many various controllers. For the smart space, this paper presents a new design method of multirate digital decentralized controller using the digital redesign technique. In specific, the proposed method is based on the delta-operator and the multirate sampling and takes the form of the LMIs. To shows the feasibility of the suggested method, the computer simulations for HVAC system are provided.

  • In this paper, we propose the location measurement algorithm of unknown tag based on RFID (Radio-Frequency IDentification) by using RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) and TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival) and extended Kalman filter in smart space. To do this, first, we recognize the location of unknown tag by using the RSSI and TDOA recognition methods. Second, we set the coordinate of the tag location measured by using trilateration and SX algorithm. But the tag location data measured by this method are included complex environmental error. So, we use the extended Kalman filter in order to revise error data of the tag location. Finally, we validate the applicability of the proposed method though the simulation in a complex environment.

  • The Cyber Physical System(CPS) is an important concept in achieving SMSs(Smart Manufacturing Systems). Generally, CPS consists of physical and virtual elements. The former involves manufacturing devices in the field space, whereas the latter includes the technologies such as network, data collection and analysis, security, and monitoring and control technologies in the cyber space. Currently, all these elements are being integrated for achieving SMSs in which we can control and analyze various kinds of producing and diagnostic issues in the cyber space without the need for human intervention. In this study, we focus on implementing a production equipment monitoring system related to building a SMS. First, we describe the development of a fog-based gateway system that links physical manufacturing devices with virtual elements. This system also interacts with the cloud server in a multimedia network environment. Second, we explain the proposed network infrastructure to implement a monitoring system operating on a cloud server. Then, we discuss our monitoring applications, and explain the experience of how to apply the ML(Machine Learning) method for predictive diagnostics.

  • This study has attempted to examine the socio-cultural implications of the using form and environment of smart phone and applications from the viewpoint of media-ecology studies. In so doing, this paper analysed the types of applications in SKT's application market T-store and in-depth interview on smart phone users. According to the study results, smart phone users organize mobile culture with individual curiosity and a desire for novelty depending on their personal tendencies and interest. Also, they use smart phone and applications as a sort of new complex mobile media and prescribe the role of smart phone and applications as their second body replacing themselves in a space using mobile. It means that new paradigm for a space using mobile could be formed by having created new space for communication through the mobile media.
