  • As the interests in eco-friendly energy has increased, the interests in Electric Vehicles(EVs) are increasing as well. Moreover, due to the government's economic support for EVs, penetration level of it has rapidly increased. These sharp increases, however, induce various problems in distribution system, such as voltage/frequency variations, peak demand increasement, demand control, etc. To minimize these possible matters, lots of research have conducted. Nevertheless, most of it assumed extremely important factors, such as numbers and charging patterns of EVs. It inevitably results in errors in their research, and thus make it difficult to prevent the possible matters from EVs. In this paper, therefore, we use actual EVs charging data from KEPCO, and analysis and deduction of it were conducted. The simulations were carried out for four aspect(season, region, purpose).

  • A new Smart rower IC's based on the Partial SOI technology was designed for such applications as mobile communication systems, high-speed HDD systems etc. A new methodology of integrating a 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ BiCMOS compatible Smart Power technology, high voltage bipolar device, high speed SAVEN bipolar device, LDD NMOSFET and a new LDMOSFET based on the Partial SOI technology is presented in this paper. The high voltage bipolar device has a breakdown voltage of 40V for the output stage of analog circuit. The optimized Partial SOI LDMOSFET has an off-state breakdown voltage of 75 V and a specific on- resistance of 0.249mΩ.$\textrm{cm}^2$ with the drift region length of 3.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The high-speed SAVEN bipolar device shows cut-off frequency of about 21㎓. The simulator DIOS and DESSIS has been used to get these results.

  • This paper presents a new discrete-time fuzzy-sliding mode controller for robust vibration control of a smart structure featuring a piezofilm actuator. A governong equation of motion for the smart beam structure is derived and discrete-time codel with mismatched uncertainties such as parameter variations is constructed ina state space. A discrete-time sliding mode control system consisting of an equivalent controller and a discontinuous controller is formulated. In the design of the equivalent part, so called an equivalent controller separation method is adopted to achieve vzster convergence to a sliding surface without extension of a sliding region, in which the system robustness maynot be guaranteed. On the other hand, the discontinuous part is constructed on the basis of both the sliding and the convergence conditions using a time-varying feedback gain. The sliding moide controller is then incorporated with a fuzzy technique to appropriately determine principal control parameters such as a discountinuous feedback gain. Experimental implementation on the forced and random vibraiton controls is undertaken in order to demonstrate superior control performance of the proposed controller.

  • In this paper, a procedure for evaluating the structural integrity of the PCSG (Printed Circuit Steam Generator) unit block is presented with a simplified FE (finite element) analysis technique by applying the homogenization method. The homogenization method converts an inhomogeneous elastic body into a homogeneous elastic body with same mechanical behaviour. This method is effective when the inhomogeneous elastic body has repetitive microstructures, and thus the method was applied to the sheet assembly among the PCSG unit block components. From the method, the homogenized equivalent elastic constants of the sheet assembly were derived. The validity of the determined material properties was verified by comparing the mechanical behaviour with the reference model. Thermo-mechanical analysis was then performed to evaluate the structural integrity of the PCSG unit block, and it was found that the contact region between the steam header and the sheet assembly is a critical point where large bending stress occurs due to the temperature difference.

  • The possibility of a broadband noise reduction of piezoelectric smart panels is experimentally studied. Piezoelectric smart panel is basically a plate structure on which piezoelectric patch with shunt circuits is mounted and sound absorbing material is bonded on the surface of the structure. Sound absorbing materials can absorb the sound transmitted at mid frequency region effectively while the use of piezoelectric shunt damping can reduce the transmission at resonance frequencies of the panel structure. To be able to tune the piezoelectric shunt circuit, the measured electrical impedance model is adopted. Resonant shunt circuit composed of register and inductor in stories is considered and the circuit parameters are determined based on maximizing the dissipated energy through the circuit. The transmitted noise reduction performance of smart panels is investigated using an acoustic tunnel. The tunnel is a square crosses sectional tunnel and a loud speaker is mounted at one side of the tunnel as a sound source. Panels are mounted in the middle of the tunnel and the transmitted sound pressure across the panels is measured. Noise reduction performance of a double smart panel possessing absorbing material and air gap shows a good result at mid frequency region except the first resonance frequency. By enabling the piezoelectric shunt damping, noise reduction is achieved at the resonance frequency as well. Piezoelectric smart panels incorporating passive method and piezoelectric shunt damping are a promising technology for noise reduction in a broadband frequency.

Sound absorbing materials can absorb the sound transmitted at mid frequency region effectively while the use of piezoelectric shunt damping can reduce the transmission at resonance frequencies of the panel structure. To be able to reduce the sound transmission at low panel resonances, piezoelectric damping using the measured electrical impedance model is adopted. Resonant shunt circuit for piezoelectric shunt damping is composed of register and inductor in series, and they are determined by maximizing the dissipated energy throughout the circuit. The transmitted noise reduction performance of smart panels is investigated using an acoustic tunnel. The tunnel is a tube with square crosses section and a loud-speaker is mounted at one side of the tube as a sound source. Panels are mounted in the middle of the tunnel and the transmitted sound pressure across panels is measured. Noise reduction performance of a smart panels possessing absorbing material and/or air gap shows a good result at mid frequency region but little effect in the resonance frequency. By enabling the piezoelectric shunt damping, noise reduction of 10dB, 8dB is achieved at the resonance frequencise as well. Piezoelectric smart panels incorporating passive method and piezoelectric shunt damping are a promising technology for noise reduction in a broadband frequency.

  • A rapid development of semiconductors, sensors and mobile network technologies has enable that the embedded device includes high sensitivity sensors, wireless communication modules and a video processing module for vehicular environment, and many researchers have been actively studying the smart car technology combined on the high performance embedded devices. The vehicle is increased as the development of society, and the risk of accidents is increasing gradually. Thus, the advanced driver assistance system providing the vehicular status and the surrounding environment of the vehicle to the driver using various sensor data is actively studied. In this paper, we design and implement the smart vehicular camera device providing the V2X communication and gathering environment information. And we studied the method to create the metadata from a received video data and sensor data using video analysis algorithm. In addition, we invent S-ROI, D-ROI methods that set a region of interest in a video frame to improve calculation performance. We performed the performance evaluation for two ROI methods. As the result, we confirmed the video processing speed that S-ROI is 3.0 times and D-ROI is 4.8 times better than a full frame analysis.

  • The present work pays emphasis on investigating the effect of different types of debonding on the bending behaviour of active sandwich beam, consisting of both extension and shear actuators. An active sandwich beam finite element is formulated by using Timoshenko's beam theory, characterized by first order shear deformation for the core and Euler-Bernoulli's beam theory for the top and bottom faces. The problem of debondings of extension actuator and face are dealt with by employing four-region model for inner debonding and three-region model for the edge debonding respectively. Displacement based continuity conditions are enforced at the interfaces of different regions using penalty method. Firstly, piezoelectric actuation of healthy sandwich beam is assessed through deflection analysis. Then the effect of actuators' debondings with different boundary conditions on bending behavior is computationally evaluated and experimentally clamped-free case is validated. The results generated will be useful to address the damage tolerant design procedures for smart sandwich beam structures with structural control and health monitoring applications.
