  • In this paper, voice analysis is performed to propose a quantitative indication of withdrawal symptoms of smartphone addiction, applied to 20 males in their 20s. For this, their smartphones were confiscated during a certain period, and we collected samples of voice signals from them before and after that period. The pitch variation and intensity magnitude of the voice samples were used in the experiment to investigate their anxiety resulted from withdrawal symptoms. The experimental results showed an increase in pitch variation from 90% of samples, and a decrease in intensity magnitude from 95% of them. Finally, we carried out a study to find a statistical significance from the extracted experimental results through statistical analysis.

  • Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between smartphone addiction propensities and compare muscle activity of the forearms and brain wave depend on the type of smartphone when inputting text messages. Method: We used an EMG to measure the change in muscle activity by attaching pads to the four muscles in both forearms of all 16 participants. We simultaneously conducted EEG measurements by observing the changes in alpha and beta waves recorded from electrode attached to both ears and the forehead of the participants. The participants had to input a given text using three different types of smartphones for ten minutes each. Result: The comparison of the EMG when inputting text involved a one way analysis of variance and the results showed that the iPad3 was highest for muscle activity followed by GALAXY Note2 and iPhone4. For EEG measurement, a one way analysis of variance was also used and the results showed iPhone4 was higest followed by GALAXY Note2 and finally iPad3 for EEG stress score. Conclusion: The results are thought to be used as reference data for smart phone users.

For the collection of materials, the materials of the final 134 people were analyzed by collecting the students at the nursing colleges located in S city and M city for convenience. The collected materials were subjected to descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients using the SPSS / WIN 26 program. As a result of this study, the learning flow of nursing college students was negative correlated to the tendency of smartphone addiction and the subjective symptoms of visual display terminal syndrome. Therefore, to improve the learning flow of nursing college students, it is necessary to reduce the symptoms of smartphone addictive use and visual display terminal syndrome. The need for intervention and development of various effective programs for smart phone addiction management and display terminal syndrome management was suggested.

Results : Overall, 40.0% of 95 ADHD and 12.8% of 592 control subjects were classified as the smartphone addiction proneness group, 26.3% of the ADHD subjects and 8.3% of the control group were classified as the depression group, and 32.6% of the ADHD subjects and 16.2% of the control group were classified as the anxiety group. Significant differences were observed between the two groups. Conclusion : The results of this study suggest that ADHD subjects are more prone to smartphone addiction, becoming depressed or anxious than those in the control group. From this study, we could suggest that students with ADHD are more easily affected by smartphone addiction than normal control subjects. In addition, we might understand how some psychiatric problems like depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem are related to ADHD and smartphone addiction.
