  • The purpose of this study is to assess legal improvements needed for extended application of smart technologies in construction sites. To achieve the objective of this study, at first, a literature review is conducted to define the concept of construction safety. Secondly, the statistics of construction accidents are assessed and systems and policies for construction safety in developed countries are then analyzed. Also, the applicability of smart safety technologies in the field is examined through recent application cases of construction & related industries. Finally, institutional issues related to the application of smart technology are assessed and policy improvement directions are then introduced. As a result, additional development of smart technologies for small construction sites and continuous policy supports are required. This study will be used as a baseline data for the institutional improvement related to smart construction technologies for domestic construction sites.

  • By nature, smart construction technology is a convergence technology, therefore aptly constructing and running an information system is needed in order to effectively develop and maintain it. Thus, in this study, an information system prototype was developed for the creation and linking of high precision digital maps at road construction sites for the effective performance of the development of the Information Collecting and Analyzing Techniques in the Construction Site (ICAT). For this, (1) defined input/output (I/O) data of each technical detail of ICAT, (2) analyzed the data flow, (3 ) proposed an information system prototype for high precision digital maps development and connection. Based on the information system prototype constructed in this study, it was inferred that each technique and its information for the Smart Construction Technique Development Business was in a consistent flow. Developed information system prototype would enable effective cooperation between subjects directly involved in the technique development, by defining I/O data in advance. Moreover, it would be of value to practitioners for refining the output data from each technique, thereby linking databases and forming Entity Relationship Diagram.

  • It is a difficult thing to administer a various task in the construction site because, the person placing an order are eagerly demanding for the reduction of project duration as the trend of construction are becoming larger and international. The advanced country have made an effort to development PMIS based on the Web, which to exchanges a various construction information such as Time Management/Construction Management/Resource Management/Document Management to solve these problems since 2000. However, the expectation to develop a smart PMIS that can deal with a more quick change of a various process are becoming lager as the lively supply of IT equipment such as smart phone and table PC. The research are aim to develop the next generation smart PMIS, which is link with the table PC and smart phone for a site manager to use the system based on the web in the movement. Also, it has an object in view to introduce the development process and the major function of the next generation PMIS.

  • Purpose: The goal of this research is to identify the planning techniques of Smart Green City with Ubiquitous method and carbon-neutral city planning techniques and to induce the main planning techniques through the analysis of relative importance and practical adaptation. Method: First of all, eighteen planning techniques were derived and categorized into three organization systems and six sectors through literature review and FGI analysis considering the applicability of Ubiquitous service for carbon-neutral city planning techniques. Secondly, based on expert surveys and AHP analysis, the importance of Smart Green City planning techniques was evaluated. Thirdly, using case study, six cases related to Smart Green City were analyzed for the current status of application of planning techniques. Lastly, considering the importance of planning techniques and practical aspects, the characteristics of Smart Green City and its implication were estimated. Result: Energy, Resource and Waste and Transportation sector were identified as important sectors for Smart Green City. In addition, 'Construction of Smart Grid', 'System for Utilization of New & Renewable Energy', 'Smart Resource Circulation Management System', 'Establishment of Public Transportation Information System basis', 'Construction of Pedestrian / Bicycle oriented Road Environment' are essential planning techniques to create Smart Green City.

  • Although the construction industry has become highly advanced, traditional accidents still occur on construction sites, prompting numerous studies and systems aimed at accident prevention using smart construction technology. This study is an exploratory investigation of utilizing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for safety management. The study aims to verify harmful and hazardous factors that UAVs can detect on construction sites, classify management factors, and define improvement measures to present a checklist for each process. Through this, we hope that smart construction technology will be further expanded and applied for on-site safety management.

  • As a part of the Smart Cities Mission, the Government of India in 2015 embarked upon the development of 100 existing cities as smart cities. In this study, the authors selected Ahmedabad city as the smart city development in India and presented project-level elements of the city based on the secondary data availability. At first, the authors focused on peer-reviewed articles, policy documents, and technical reports. Next, the authors collected the secondary data of project-level elements of the Ahmedabad city from the years 2015 to 2019. The findings show no significant improvement in the sewage system and waste collection as compared to the level of investment made in these sectors. The study showed that the water supply system outperformed revenue generation based on the government investment made in that sector. As a lesson learned, these findings indicate that significant improvement should be addressed in sewage management and waste collection. These study findings could help government officials, investors, developers, and city planners in making the appropriate decision before and during smart city execution. The lesson learned from this study could be used as a reference to improve revenue during the future smart city implication.

  • The goal of the construction work in the past was to improve the efficiency through cost reduction and shortening the construction period. However, the importance of safety management has recently been emphasized, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor has set a goal of reducing the number of deaths caused by industrial accidents by half. As a result, institutional and legal improvements are pursued and the need for safety is emphasized. However, most construction companies, except for some large construction companies, are lacking in safety management. So, In this paper, we design and implement a safety management system for construction site using smart helmets and beacons.

  • Smart factory construction projects are continuously being carried out domestically and abroad. In particular, in times of increasing uncertainty, interest in smart factories is increasing to improve corporate productivity. Currently, the government-led smart factory construction project is continuously being promoted in Korea. The tangible results of this construction project are very positive in indicators such as productivity improvement, quality improvement, and cost reduction. On the other hand, various contents are revealed in the survey to identify operational difficulties after building a smart factory. In this study, we analyzed difficulties (problems) in operation after establishing the system shown in the survey conducted in 2017 and 2020, and derived improvement plans for them. If these improvement measures are implemented in the relevant process of the smart factory construction project, it is expected that the operational difficulties felt by companies will be reduced, and a system with higher satisfaction than before will be established.
