In recent years, there has been a growing concern about enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In this study, we investigate the relationship among ERP software qualify, vendor support, user information satisfaction. and performance of ERP implementation. The empirical findings of this paper will allow SMEs to identify the importance of relationships with vendors and software itself for the successful implementation of ERP systems. The results provide a useful basis for the SMEs which have limited information capability to focus their attention on the software quality and vendor support in overcoming difficulties and obstacles facing the ERP implementation.

Social responsibility of enterprises has recently been emphasized in practice. However, most of the previous studies on social responsibility has been mainly made on the large enterprises, not including small and medium enterprises. This study investigates the literature of previous studies and conducts the survey to find out how the fitness of small and medium enterprises' social responsibility affects corporate reputation and purchase intention. According to the analysis results of 101 valid responses, the study shows that fitness of small and medium enterprises' social responsibility affects corporate reputation and purchase intention, and corporate reputation has an effect on purchase intention. The results of this study may provide many small and medium enterprises with guidelines for their social responsibility activities.

Innovation, especially business process innovation, has evolved into a core focus area for all successful organizations. To ensure long-tenn survival, an enterprise must place innovation at the top of daily business operations to drive desired revenue stability and growth. Business Process Innovation is a key success factor for the next generation enterprise. Companies need to nurture an environment that encourages and enables process innovation. Business Process Management (BPM) must become the focal point of innovation initiatives. But the most BPM solutions are for large company. The cost is too high to build for small and medium sized company. We need the light and easy BPM solution for small and medium sized company. To promote the efficiency of production process of small and medium sized company, government conducts production information business that collects and analyzes information of production field automatically and helps process' controlling and supervising by supporting costs of purchase, installment, etc. of hard-software and network related to middle and small sized company intending e-Manufacturing of production field with computer and information & communication network. As a result, the number of middle and small sized companies that introduce and manage production information system is increased. Therefore, the purposes of this research are to arrange contents of production information system introduced to solve current problems of middle and small sized companies and analyze effects of small and middle sized companies' introduction through example companies.

The industrial environment for shipbuilding in 21st century requires increase in few type of ships and marine structures, international cooperation and globalization, while virtual enterprise environment is rapidly establishing. On the other hand, more and more efforts will be spent on internet based distributed and collaborative environment rather than being spent on unit level automations such as CAD, CAM and CAE, and the link between them. Recent internet technology and information technology in heterogeneous environment are being applied in shipbuilding industry as well as in other industries. While these technology are rapidly adopted in major shipyards, many small and medium-sized shipyards does not have enough resources to introduce system designed for large enterprise. In this paper, a prototype of Internet technology based basic planning system is implemented for the small and medium sized shipyards based on the internet technology and concurrent engineering concept. First, the system is designed from the user requirements. Then standardized development environment and tools are selected. These tools are used for defining and evaluating core application technologies for the system development. This can guarantee the survival of small and medium-sized shipyards in 21st century industrial environment.

These days, Korean government has been expanding Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with major countries. Expansion of FTA, which means opening up the markets, can be the opportunity to develop for those enterprises with global competency; however, it surely brings disadvantages to such small and medium enterprises which function as an outsourcing and a subcontracted to large enterprises. For Korean economy to overcome the national income of US$20,000 and to jump up to the level of advanced countries, it is imperative to perceive a limit to the large enterprises only. Not only the leading efforts of small and medium enterprises to double the exports, but also realizing the policy reform for the consistent and intimate policy between the government and companies have to be proceeded. Therefore, primarily in this study, first, it includes the overview of the change in trade-environment in an era of FTA, governmental system and policy to support export for the small and medium enterprises; secondly, examination of the export capacity and some problematic factors in export for small and medium enterprises. Ultimately, it is suggested both reinforcement for global competency of the small and medium enterprises and an alternative policy for the support system in the time expecting export expansion.

Recently, the small shipyard companies have difficulties that causes by depression of shipbuilding industry. The small shipyard companies need some strategies to overcome the slump in shipbuilding industry field. In this paper, we conduct the survey for present condition diagnosis of small shipyard companies, and analyze the production process based on Information Strategy Planning(ISP) method. When analyze based on ISP, we apply IDEF0 and LOVC technique to analyze the production process of small shipyard companies. Also we conduct the gap analysis between the analyzed present condition and the requirements of improvement. Therefore, the most important result of the analysis is to establish a system for enterprise planning and management, which customized for small shipyard companies, with satisfying economic feasibility and usability.

In order to keep global competitiveness, most of small and medium size manufacturing companies require to equip a product information management system which collects and analyzes the data generated at the manufacturing lines and then provides information for manager or worker to make a decision. However, these companies have a cost problem for adopting the enterprise resource planning system mostly used in large companies. To overcome this problem, we suggest an IOCP-based server for the product information management system suitable for small and medium size manufacturing companies. The basic concept of suggested server is that it is possible to process concurrently the connection requests coming from data collector and client by using the facility of asynchronous notification of OS and protect a server against overload by using the thread pool.

We conducted an explorative study about the types of APEC government's policies for SME(Small and Medium Enterprise) informatization. Informatization means the process whereby information and communication technologies shape cultural and civic discourse. By using Qualitative study methods such as interviews and case studies, we identified the influential factors for the effectiveness of government policies on SME's informatization. Based on the implementation levels of these factors, we also developed the typology of government policies for SME informatization. Our conclusion ends up with the suggestion of a contingency approach for SME informatization of underdeveloped and developing countries.

This paper deals with in-house and external information sources available for small and medium enterprises of which information needs become specialized, diversified integrated and massive under circumstance of computer and telecommunication technology. It also presents not only the ways and means of collecting analysing, utilizing various information being aquired from internal and external sources but also adequate condition and application of information, and information system for small and medium enterprises in which resources are relatively short.
