A Study on Bathroom Design for Small Households (소가구(小家口)를 위한 욕실 디자인 경향)

  • Households of today tend to gradually change from a large household to a small one. The tendency starts from urban concentration of population with modern industrial society. Small-sized households have rapidly increased with the following three reasons: (i) one-person households with aging society, (ii) individualistic pursuit of happiness, and (iii) emergence of single households due to high prices and a decline in the quality of life. With these social changes, various products for small-sized households have been created and there have also been changes in dwelling patterns with small-size housing and one rooms increasing. Current small-sized living space has combined space of a living room, a bedroom and a kitchen, which makes a house compositive space. A bathroom, however, requires a differentiated suggestion from existing one since it is special space where water is used. Based on this issue, this study intends to present bathrooms in small-sized living space.

Crystal Structure and Spectroscopic Properties of Cyclic Dipeptide: A Racemic Mixture of cyclo(ᴅ-Prolyl-ʟ-Tyrosyl) and cyclo(ʟ-Prolyl-ᴅ-Tyrosyl)

  • Two diastereoisomers of cyclo(Pro-Tyr) have been synthesized simultaneously. The crystal structures and conformations of both cyclo($\small{L}$-Pro-$\small{L}$-Tyr) and a racemic mixture of cyclo($\small{D}$-Pro-$\small{L}$-Tyr) and cyclo($\small{L}$-Pro-$\small{D}$-Tyr), abbreviated as rac-cyclo($\small{D}$-Pro-$\small{L}$-Tyr/$\small{L}$-Pro-$\small{D}$-Tyr), have been determined by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study at low temperature. The crystals of rac-cyclo($\small{D}$-Pro-$\small{L}$-Tyr/$\small{L}$-Pro-$\small{D}$-Tyr) belong to orthorhombic space group $Pna2_1$ with a = 10.755 (1), b = 12.699 (1), c = 9.600 (1) ${\AA}$ and Z = 4. The tyrosine side chain is folded towards the diketopiperazine (DKP) ring. The DKP ring adopts a twist boat conformation with pseudo symmetry $C_{2v}$. The pyrrolidine ring has an envelope conformation with the N5, C4, C7 and C8 atoms in a plane. The crystal of rac-cyclo($\small{D}$-Pro-$\small{L}$-Tyr/$\small{L}$-Pro-$\small{D}$-Tyr) is stabilized by hydrogen bonds between amide N2-H2 and carbonyl oxygen O2 in the neighbor. The hydroxyl group of tyrosine residue is also hydrogen bonded to the oxygen of the carbonyl group of the DKP ring in the next molecule. The spectroscopic properties of both isomers are also described.

  • In a continuation of investigation on Cordyceps militaris, thirteen compounds were isolated from the $CH_2Cl_2$ and n-BuOH-soluble fraction of C. militaris. They were identified as twelve diketopiperazines such as cyclo($\small{L}$-Gly-$\small{L}$-Pro) (1), cyclo($\small{L}$-Ala-$\small{L}$-Pro) (2), cyclo($\small{L}$-Ser-$\small{L}$-Pro) (3), cyclo($\small{L}$-Val-$\small{L}$-Pro) (4), cyclo($\small{L}$-Thr-$\small{L}$-Pro) (5), cyclo($\small{L}$-Pro-$\small{L}$-Pro) (6), cyclo($\small{L}$-Thr-$\small{L}$-Leu) (7), cyclo($\small{L}$-Tyr-$\small{L}$-Ala) (8), cyclo($\small{L}$-Phe-$\small{L}$-Ser) (9), cyclo($\small{L}$-Phe-$\small{L}$-Pro) (10), cyclo($\small{L}$-Tyr-$\small{L}$-Pro) (11) and brevianamide F (13), and an amino acid, tryptophan (12). Their structures were identified on the basis of chemical evidences and spectroscopic analysis including 1D-NMR ($^1H$, $^{13}C$), 2D-NMR (HSQC, HMBC) and MS spectral data. Among the isolated compounds, compounds 1, 2, 6-11 are first reported from C. militaris.

Analysis of Small Hydropower Resource Characteristics for Nakdong River System (낙동강수계의 소수력자원 특성 분석)

  • Small hydropower is one of the many types of new and renewable energy, which is planning to develop, as the country is abundant in endowed resources. In order to fully utilize small hydropower resources, there is a need for greater precision in quantifying small hydropower resources and establish an environment in which energy sources can be discovered using the small hydropower resource management system. This study has given greater precision to calculate annual electricity generation and capacity of small hydropower plants of Nakdong river system by inquiring into average annual rainfall, basin area and runoff coefficient, which is anticipated to promote small hydropower resources utilization. Small hydropower resource management system was also established by additionally providing base information on quantified small hydropower resources and analysis function and small hydropower generator status, rivers, basin, rainfall gauging station, water level gauging station etc.. Small hydropower resource management system can be used gather basic information for positive applications of small hydropower energy nationwide.

  • This study deals with problems of technical assistance through accidents analysis and questionnaires on small-sized construction sites which are difficult to understand real condition and administrate legally and indicated following efficient methods of technical assistance. (1) Ensuring access to the small-sized construction sites. (2) Delegation technical assistance service to civilian and supporting selected. (3) Raising of the person's safe consciousness concerned with the small-sized construction sites. (4) Safety consulting for the head office of small-sized construction sites.

  • Small area estimation is a statistical inference method to overcome the large variance due to the small sample size allocated in a small area. Recently some nonparametric estimators have been applied to small area estimation. In this study, we suggest a nonparametric mixed effect small area estimator using kernel smoothing and compare the small area estimators using labor statistics.

Perception of small-obstacle using ultrasonic sensors for a mobile robot (이동로봇을 위한 초음파센서를 이용한 소형장해물 감지)

  • This paper describes a perception of small-obstacle using ultrasonic sensors in a mobile robot. The research on the avoidance of the large-obstacles such as a wall, a large box, etc. using ultrasonic sensors has been generally progressed up to now. But the mobile robot could meet a small-obstacle such as a small plastic bottle of about 1 l in quantity, a small box of 7${\times}$7${\times}$7 cm3 in volume, and so on in its designated path, and could be disturbed by them in the locomotion of the mobile robot. So, it is necessary to research on the avoidance of a small-obstacle. In this paper, the small-obstacle perceiving system was designed and fabricated by arranging four ultrasonic sensors on the plastic plate to avoid a small-obstacle. The small-obstacle perceiving system was installed on the above part of the mobile robot with the slope of 40.7$^{\circ}$ to a horizontal line. The static characteristic test and the dynamic characteristic test were performed to know the information of the used ultrasonic sensors. As a result, the mobile robot with the small-obstacle perceiving system could avoid a small-obstacle, and could move in indoor environment safely.

  • This paper describes an image processing algorithm for recognition of small-obstacles using a camera and program for a mobile robot in indoor environment. Mobile robot could meet small-obstacles such as a small plastic bottle of about 1l in quantity, a small box of 7$\times$7$\times$7 cm$^3$ in volume, and so on in its designated path, and could be disturbed by them in the locomotion of a mobile robot. So, it is necessary to research on the image processing algorithm for recognition of small-obstacles using a camera and program. In this paper, 2-D the image processing algorithm for recognition of small-obstacles using a camera and program for a mobile robot in indoor environment was developed. The characteristic test of the developed program to confirm the recognition of small-obstacles was performed. It is shown that the developed program could recognize small-obstacles accurately.

The Study on the Experimental Analysis for Limit Depth of Small Diameter Drilling (미소드릴링의 한계깊이에 관한 연구)

  • Small diameter drilling which take high precision in cutting work is needed more small hole and high speed working. Especially, small hole deep drilling is one of the most important machining types and its necessity and importance become more and more increasing in the whole field of industry. This paper shows the limit depths with small diameter drills using experimental analysis. The results are gained by tool dynamometer and Labview system and obtained during small diameter twist drilling system on SM45C steel for different machining conditions. The machine and tools are the CNC machining center and twist drill of diameter 1.5mm. And additionally, tool microscope show the relationship between shapes of chips and breakage shapes of small diameter drills.
