Leaky Wave Radiation from Dielectric-Coated Parallel-Plate Waveguied Periodic Slot with Finite Thickness : H-polarization (유전체로 코팅된 유한한 두께의 주기 슬롯을 갖는 평행평판 도파관으로부터 누설파 복사 : H-편파)

  • The leaky wave emanated from the dielectric-coated parallel-plate waveguide with finite periodic thick slot in its upper plate is investigated theoretically for H-polarization case. For this structure, fields in slot regions are expressed as a summation of the parallel-plate waveguide TM modes, and in other regions are expressed in the spectral domain by use of the inverse Fourier transform. Boundary conditions at the interfaces are enforced, and the simultaneous linear equations are derived. The influences of the slot width, slot thickness, thickness of a dielectric coating, and finite slot number on the radiation characteristics (phase constant, leakage constant, radiation pattern) are examined. The results of the finite periodic slot are compared with those of the infinite extent structure and good agreement has been found.

  • The 4 by 4 series slot sub-array antenna is proposed using substrate integrated waveguide(SIW) technology for 35 GHz of Ka band application. The proposed antenna is realized with multi-layered structure for compact size and easy integration features. 4 by 4 radiating slots are arrayed on top PCB with equal spacing and the feeding SIWs are arranged on middle and bottom PCBs for uniform power distribution. The multi-layered antenna is realized using RT/Duroid 5880 that has dielectric constant of 2.2 and the total antenna size is $750.76mm^2$. The individual parts such as radiators and feeding networks are simulated using full-wave simulator CST MWS. Furthermore, the total sub-array antenna also fabricated and measured the electrical performances such as impedance bandwidth under the criteria of -10 dB(490 MHz), maximum gain(18.02 dBi), sidelobe level(SLL)(-11.0 dB), and cross polarization discrimination (XPD)(-20.16 dB).

Waveguide Broad-wall Slot Array Antenna Study for Millimeter-Wave Seeker Using Cross Monopulse Axes (십자형 모노펄스 축을 적용한 밀리미터파 탐색기용 도파관 광벽 슬롯 배열 안테나 조립체 연구)

  • In this paper, an antenna having 2-axes cross monopulse for Ka band millimeter-wave seeker is designed and antenna performance is verified through vacuum-brazing method for fabrication and measurement. Also, by designing and manufacturing a waveguide circulator the antenna including the circulator is measured. Radiating part of the antenna takes optimized slot lengths and offsets from Elliot's array synthesis procedure using the generic algorithm and feeding part for cross monopulse axes uses the folded waveguide to optimize the S-parameter result. Based on this method, the antenna has 33.3 dBi gain, $3.5^{\circ}{\pm}0.5^{\circ}$ beamwidth, below -23 dB SLL through fabricating and measuring. It is found that antenna characteristics is similar to design results.

  • Periodically perforated slot structure in the upper wall of the parallel plate waveguide is analyzed with main interest focusing on the diffraction Properties. The Periodic slot array is of infinite extent in one direction and of finite extent in the other direction. Various numerical results for reflection from the slotted section and transmission beyond the slotted section, and the radiation through the slotted section into the upper half space are presented with the height of feeding parallel plate waveguide, single slot size, and the periodicity between slots as parameters. This study is thought to be helpful to the design of the ventilation hole in the TFT-LCD and PDP.

  • The radiating multislotted antennas widely used in the antennas technique are rather prospective for the application in industrial installations for microwave heating. In this paper, the model of such an antenna is experimentally investigated. The model under investigation presents a section of the waveguide Inn 340 whose broad wall contains 15 movable slotted plates. This design allows to experimentally define a location of all the slots providing the necessary distribution of radiating power along the waveguide with minimal SWR of all the system. The variants of power uniform distribution along the waveguide as well as the power decreasing to the waveguide end are examined. The application of plates with different thickness allowed to estimate the influence of the walls thickness on the Power distribution. The possibility of system extra-tuning with the help of tuning screws located in the vicinity of each slot is considered. Obtained results are compared to the conducted theoretical calculations and data in references.

  • In this paper, a new design for a Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) fed wide-band slot antenna is presented. To enhance the impedance bandwidth of the slot antenna, we proposed the tapering slot structure. A various resonance modes are generated in the tapering slot. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is about 12:1 ($2.0GHz{\sim}24.3GHz$) with $VSWR{\le}2$. Simulation results for return loss and radiation pattern are presented.

  • In this paper, a new design for a Coplanar Waveguide(CPW) fed wide-band slot antenna is presented. To enhance the impedance bandwidth of the slot antenna, we proposed the tapering slot structure.   • This paper presents a slotted leaky waveguide antenna using a rectangular waveguide for mobile reception of DBS (Direct Broadcasting Satellite). A slotted rectangular waveguide in leaky-wave operation can obtain a large beam-tilting angle of 45$^{\circ}$, which is an attractive candidate of mobile DBS receiving antennas because it can be installed horizontally. SNM is used to solve arbitrary shape and materials constant, derived from maxwell's equations. In this paper, analyze cross slot waveguide antenna using SNM. and verify by HFSS.

  • In this paper, a high gain waveguide array antenna combining horn antenna on slot radiator was designed. And the fabricated antenna showed enough gain, improved efficiency and broadband characteristics for receiving satellite signals, compare to conventional microstrip antenna which has dielectric loss and radiation loss on transmission line. For easy fabrication, the waveguide structure was composed by 3-stages of radiator, signal coupler and transmission line. By experiment, the array waveguide antenna of 4 by 16 showed 28.3[dBi] gain and 2:1 of VSWR. And by combining horn antenna structure, the gain was increased 1[dB]. The received signal from Koreasat 6 by measurement showed 16[dBc] of C/N on BS(Broadcasting Satellite)-band and 14[dBc] of C/N on CS(Communication Satellite)-band.

  • Dielectrically filled parallel-plate waveguide with finite number of periodic slots in its upper plate as a leaky wave antenna is analysed for E-polarization case. The integro-differential equation whose unknown is the slot equivalent magnetic current over the slot is formulated and solved by use of Galerkin's method. From knowledge of the equivalent magnetic current, the propagation constant and radiation pattern for the finite periodic structure are determined and compared with the results of the infinite case. Good correspondence between them is observed.
