Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine comparison of tension according to the type of sling cord during the bridging exercise with sling in stroke patients. Methods Twenty six stroke patients were recruited for this study. Subjects were randomly performed sling bridging exercise with three types of sling cords such as nonelastic cord with affected side-nonelastic cord with non affected side (NC-NC), nonelastic cord with affected side-elastic cord with non affected side (NC-EC), and elastic cord with affected side-nonelastic cord with non affected side (EC-NC). They were measured tension with a tensiometer of sling cord during the bridging exercise with sling. Results The tension of sling cord was significantly different in affected side, non affected side, and tension ratio of affected side/non affected side. There were significant differences tension in NC-EC from NC-NC and EC-NC and the NC-EC method was increased tension of affected side and decreased tension of non affected side. Conclusions These results showed that the NC-EC method was improved the symmetry of affected side and non affected side. Sling exercise with appropriate type of sling cord should be increased activities of affected side and improved recovery in stroke patients.
Purpose : The role of biceps pulley is stabilizing sling for the long head of the biceps tendon against anterior shearing stress in the rotator interval. The purpose of this study was to classify arthroscopic findings of biceps pulley and to evaluate the relationship with shoulder pathology. Materials and Methods : From January 2002 through July 2002, we observed biceps pulley in 49 cases of shoulder pathology treated with arthroscopically. There were 22 cases of anterior instability, 12 cases of rotator cuff tear, 5 of impingement syndrome, 6 of frozen shoulder, 2 of superior labral injury and 1 of each scapulothoracic bursitis and biceps dislocation. We classified biceps pulley as four types according to the arthroscopic appearance. Type I its stretched type. type II as sling type, type III at detached sling type, and type IV as concealed type. Results : We observed stretched type in 24 cases $(49\%)$, sling type in 5 cases $(10\%)$, detached sling type in 2 cases, concealed type in 1 case, and unidentified cases in 17 cases $(35\%)$. Conclusion : Development and variation of biceps pulley may have symptomatic correlation according to the degree of shoulder motion or pathologic status.

To compare the effectiveness of the hemisling, bobath sling, extension-type sling, and the newly designed Modified Triangular Bobath Sling with Distal Support on a hemiplegic shoulder subluxation. Fourteen hemiplegic patients with shoulder subluxation were evaluated by a simple X-ray with and without the slings and the vertical and horizontal distances on the plain AP views were measurement. The newly designed arm sling was compared in terms of the effects of correction with distal support attached with shoulder saddle sling. The arm sling designed for this study was developed for the purpose of maintaining patients hands in a functional position and performing ROM exercise of the shoulder easily, and prevention or correction to shoulder subluxation. The mean values of the vertical and horizontal distance were compared to determine if there was significant difference of function between the new sling and the conventional slings. The new sling provided the patients with good vertical correction of the subluxation(p<0.05) but did not increase the horizontal distance significantly. These results support the effectiveness of a new sling to decrease subluxation in hemiplegia. Further study on the long term effects or complication of the new sling is recommended.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine of this study is to study the effect of squat exercise on muscle activation in a sling device using various types of ropes and to propose an effective sling exercise method for strengthening the lower extremity strength. Method: 20 adult male subjects (age: 25.2±2.4 yrs, height: 176.5±3.2 cm, weight: 77.2±4.5 kg) participated in this study. In the experiment, a total of four squats were conducted: squat [SE], sling squat using inelastic rope [IR], sling squat using elastic rope [ER], and sling squat using two elastic ropes [TER]. Squats were performed 5 times for each condition, and a 60-second break was given for each condition to minimize muscle fatigue. The activation of biceps brachii, rectus femoris, gastrocnemius, and tibialis anterior muscles was measured. Results: It was found that the activation of all muscles was the lowest during the squat exercise [SE]. During the sling squat using inelastic rope [IR], the muscle activation of the biceps brachii was the highest. During the sling squat using elastic rope [ER], the activation of the rectus femoris, gastrocnemius, and tibialis anterior muscles was found to be the highest. In the sling squat using two elastic ropes [TER], most of the muscle activation was similar to that of the sling squat using inelastic rope [IR]. Conclusion: Our results of the experiment, it was found that sling squat exercise using elastic rope had a positive effect on the activation of all muscles. It is thought that performing a squat exercise under moderate weight load and unstable conditions, such as sling squat exercise using elastic rope, can increase the muscle activity of the lower limbs and perform more effective exercise effect than performing a conventional squat exercise under stable conditions. In the future, if research is conducted not only on adult men, but also on various ages and patients, it will be able to provide positive help in improving balance, stability and stamina through squat exercise.
The purpose of this study is to see how the sling lumbar stabilization exercise affects muscle body type and subjective pain degree of 17 middle-age men who are diagnosed with sacroiliac joint syndrome and investigate the effectiveness. The subjects of this study are patients who have been diagnosed with sacroiliac joint syndrome through tests like X-ray in S Orthopedics in C City and have had chronic lumbar pain for more than 6 months and the before and after results about subjective pain degree through three dimension Moire Muscle Body Type Tester and subjective pain degree through VAS Pain Awareness after sling lumbar stabilization exercise 3 times a week, 30 minutes a time, total 24 times for 8 weeks have revealed the following: The change of muscle body type has been comprehensively improved in the statistics before and after the exercise and the subjective pain degree has also comprehensively decreased in the statistics. Therefore, sling lumbar stabilization exercise is proved to give positive affect to muscle body type and pain improvement of the patients with sacroiliac joint syndrome.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the variations in gait parameters in terms of the type of arm sling used in hemiplegic patients. Ten patients with hemiplegia and ten healthy adults participated in this study and walked at self-selected speeds on a GAITRite-instrumented carpet. The activities of the opposite shoulder girdle muscle including the latissimus dorsi, anterior deltoid, and posterior deltoid were simultaneously recorded using surface EMG during gait. They were randomly assigned a condition: without an arm sling, a single strap arm sling, a Harris hemi arm sling, a Rolyan humeral cuff arm sling, and a Bobath roll arm sling. The following gait variables were analyzed: the temporo-spatial parameters of velocity, step length, stride length, swing phase, stance phase, single support, step time and toe in/toe out. The statistical analysis was one-way ANOVA with repeated measures to compare the variation of each variable. In comparison of parameters in each trial in the hemiplegia group, the non-affected side stride length, single support, and toe in/toe out resulted in statistically significantly changes (p<.05). But without an arm sling group did not show any gait parameter differences with arm slings. This study found that several arm slings varied gait patterns in patients with hemiplegia and in healthy adults. In the EMG analysis, the Rolyan humeral cuff arm sling and the Bobath roll arm sling were higher muscle activity for the latissimus dorsi muscle than did the single strap ann sling. Further study should examine the problems that appeared in patients who worn arm slings by focusing on a larger number of subjects and by studying the variety of responses in more detail using an assessment tool that measures variation.
This research has a purpose of providing base data to prevent musculoskeletal disorders, by analyzing the changes in muscle body due to sling exercises, of the industrial laborers with work-related musculoskeletal disorders. The subjects of this research are 20 volunteers who applied for musculoskeletal treatment exercises in hospitals, from region D industry H. 10 of the 20 subjects were involved in sling exercise program for 12 weeks, and the other 10 subjects were ordered to retain their common practices. We have used the statistics software SPSS ver.18.0 to analyze the data, and have offered a descriptive analysis of the measured variables. Background: This study aims to examine the effects of sling exercise and common exercise on the pain level of various body parts. Methods: This study divided the subjects into a sling-exercise group and a common exercise group to for each group across the measurement times after practicing exercises twice per week for 8 weeks (total 16times). To compare the means of the experimental group and the control group on each variable, the ANOVA for repeated measure was used and if there was any significant difference across the measurement times, post-hoc comparisons were conducted for the difference. The T-tests for group difference according to exercise type on each of the variables showed the results as follows. Results: The results of this study suggest that there were significant difference in pain in shoulder pain, but no significant difference could be found in the Thoracic pain & Knee joint pain. There was no significant difference to distinguish between the sling exercise and the common exercise. Conclusions: Currently the sling exercise is not spread out widely in Korea, so that the recognition and studies of the sling exercise is still lacking. Hence, this study can hopefully facilitate popularity of the sling exercise and systematic prospect studies on it in the near future.
A main purpose of this research was to analyze environmental factors to influence helicopter accidents contrary to the fact that the almost 80% of helicopter accidents happened due to pilots' human errors. There have been about 14 helicopter accidents in civil aviation sector last decade. It is noteworthy that nine of 14 accidents happened during the external sling load operation. Moreover, there is no law or regulation which could cover the helicopter external sling load operation or human external cargo in Korea. In this paper, it was analyzed the training and education regulations regarding helicopter external sling load operation or human external cargo in regulations of FAA and EASA, Based on analyzing and comparing the FAR part 133 and domestic aviation law (aviation safety act and flight safety regulations), it was found out the implication how to apply helicopter type rating for external sling load operation and human external cargo operation. To sum up, this paper expect central government should cooperate and amend aviation law which apply external sling load operation and external cargo to establish sound safety culture in Korea.
