2차원 미세 포켓이 있는 무한장 Slider Bearing의 CFD 해석 (CFD Analysis of an Infinitely Long Slider Bearing with Two-Dimensional micro-Pockets)

  • It is reported by many researchers that the textured bearing surfaces, where many tiny micro-pockets or enclosed recesses were incorporated, can enhance the load support and reduce friction force. Recently, the basic lubrication mechanism of micro-pocketed parallel surfaces are explained in terms of "inlet suction" using continuity equation and simply cavitation condition. However, it is required that more actual cavitation condition in the pocket region should be applied to estimate exact bearing performance. In this paper, a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT is used to investigate the exact lubrication characteristics of infinitely long slider bearing with micro-pockets. The results show that the pressure distributions are highly affected by pocket depths, its positions and numbers. The numerical method adopted in this paper and results can be use in optimal design of textured sliding bearings.

  • In recent years, the LDM(Linear DC Motor) is widely used, because it has more merits than other rotary motors. First, if system requires linear motion, LDM realizes direct linear motion as rotary motor does not. Second, system is simple and easy to control, and so on. In optical disc drive, a tracking system consists of two parts. One is fine actuating and the other is coarse actuating. For coarse actuating VCM(Voice Coil Motor) actuator is used as a basic drive mechanism. In this paper, MC(Moving Coil) type LDM is designed, manufactured and controlled. System is composed of mechanical-electromagnetic component, therefore mechanical loss and electromagnetic loss exist. The dominent mechanical loss is friction which results from sliding between guide shaft and hole. Therefore, this paper shows the friction compensation control. High speed and accurate position is not gained only PID control, therefore other control method is applied to the system.

고체표면에 응축된 물 분자의 윤활특성에 대한 분자시뮬레이션 연구 (Lubrication Characteristics of Condensed Water Molecules at Solid Surface through Molecular Simulation)

  • This paper presents a numerical analysis of the lubrication characteristics of condensed water molecules on a solid surface by conducting molecular dynamics simulations. We examine two models consisting of a simple hexahedral substrate with and without water molecules to reveal the lubrication mechanism of mono-layered water molecules. We perform a sliding simulation by contacting and translating a single asperity on the substrate under various normal loads. During the simulation, we measure the friction coefficient and atomic stress. When water molecules were interleaved between solid surfaces, atomic stress exerted on individual atom and friction coefficient were smaller than those of model without water molecule. Particularly, at a low load, the efficacy of water molecules in the reduction of atomic stress and friction is remarkable. Conversely, at high loads, water molecules rarely lubricate solid surfaces and fail to effectively distribute the contact stress. We found a critical condition in which the lubrication regime changes and beyond the condition, significant plastic deformation was created. Consequently, we deduce that water molecules can distribute and reduce contact stress within a certain condition. The reduced contact stress prevents plastic deformation of the substrate and thus diminishes the mechanical interlocking between the asperity and the substrate.

A class of actuated deployable and reconfigurable multilink structures

  • Deployable structures have the ability to shift from a compact state to an expanded functional configuration. By extension, reconfigurability is another function that relies on embedded computation and actuators. Linkage-based mechanisms constitute promising systems in the development of deployable and reconfigurable structures with high flexibility and controllability. The present paper investigates the deployment and reconfigurability of modular linkage structures with a pin and a sliding support, the latter connected to a linear motion actuator. An appropriate control sequence consists of stepwise reconfigurations that involve the selective releasing of one intermediate joint in each closed-loop linkage, effectively reducing it to a 1-DOF "effective crank-slider" mechanism. This approach enables low self-weight and reduced energy consumption. A kinematics and finite-element analysis of different linkage systems, in all intermediate reconfiguration steps of a sequence, have been conducted for different lengths and geometrical characteristics of the members, as well as different actuation methods, i.e., direct and cable-driven actuation. The study provides insight into the impact of various structural typological and geometrical factors on the systems' behavior.

Tribological and Corrosion Behavior of Multilayered $WC-Ti_{1-x}Al_xN$ Coatings Deposited by Cathodic Arc Deposition Process on High Speed Steel

  • Recently, many of the current development in surface modification engineering are focused on multilayered coatings. Multilayered coatings have the potential to improve the tribological and corrosion properties of tools and components. By using cathodic arc deposition, $WC-Ti_{1-x}Al_xN$ multilayers were deposited on steel substrates. Wear tests of four multiplayer coatings were performed using a ball-on-disc configuration with a linear sliding speed of 0.1m/s, 5N load. The tests were carried out at room temperature in airby employing AISI 52100 steel ball ($H_v=848N$) of 11mm in diameter. Electrochemical tests were performed using the potentiodynamic and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. The surface morphology and topography of the wear scars of tribo-element and the corroded specimen have been determined by using scanning electron spectroscopy (SEM). Also, wear mechanism was determined by using SEM coupled with EDS. Results have showed an improved wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the $WC-Ti_{1-x}Al_xN$ coatings.

남극 킹조지섬 포케이드 빙하의 헬리콥터 및 지상 레이다 탐사 (Helicopter-borne and ground-towed radar surveys of the Fourcade Glacier on King George Island, Antarctica)

  • 남극 킹조지섬 포케이드 빙하의 저면 지형과 내부 모습을 규명하기 위해서 2006년 11월에 4개 조사측선을 따라 헬리콥터 및 지상 레이다(GPR) 탐사를 실시하였다. 혼합위상인 단채널 지상 GPR 자료에 적용한 신호 역대합, f-k 구조보정 속도분석, 유한차분 깊이구조보정 등의 처리과정을 통하여 수직 분해능 향상, 속도함수 추출, 선명한 깊이영상 작성 등을 효과적으로 수행하였다. 헬리콥터 GPR 자료의 경우, 구조보정속도는 공기와 얼음의 2층모델을 가정한 평균제곱근속도로 구하였다. GPR 단연은 울퉁불퉁한 빙저면, 빙하 내부의 미끄러짐면, 운집된 산란잡음 등의 특징적 모습을 보여준다. 기반암까지의 최대 깊이는 포케이드 빙하와 목지들로우스키 빙하 사이의 경계능선 남동사면에 인접한 빙하 골짜기에서 79 m가 넘는다. 빙하 기저수 위에 복잡한 형태의 굴과 수 m의 폭을 갖는 독립된 빈 공간들의 존재를 지상 GPR 자료로부터 해석하였다. 빙하 중단 부근의 GPR 영상은 포토소만의 빙산 형성기작과 관련된 미끄러짐면, 단열, 단층 등의 구조를 보여준다.

유연생산 시스템 구축을 위한 공작물 자동교환 유닛의 수평 이송 기구 설계에 관한 연구(파트 2) (A Study on the Design of Horizontal Traverse Units in an Automatic Object Changer Unit to Establish a Flexible Production System (Part 2))

  • The objective of this study is to develop an automatic object changer unit to improve processing problems existed in the conventional horizontal machining center. To achieve this goal, this study designed a horizontal transfer as the second project continued to the first project that designed a upward and downward traverse unit. A horizontal traverse unit shows a symmetric structure and consists of frame, which consists of four unit tools, motor and reducer, which are fixed at a frame, operation unit with pinions, first traverse unit, and second traverse unit. Constraint conditions based on the operation mechanism with these elements were configured and obtained following results after modeling a model for a traverse motor. In the kinematic expression of sliding motion with one degree of freedom, the sliding motion is constrained. Also, the rack 3 installed at a frame is used to configure possible kinematic constraint conditions of the rack 2 according to the rolling motion of the pinion 2 in the first traverse unit. In addition, the moment of inertia that is a type of kinetic energy in a converted horizontal traverse unit in the side of the reducer can be applied to introduce the moment of inertia of a converted horizontal traverse unit in the side of the reducer by using the sum of kinetic energy in the rack and pinion, which is a part of the horizontal traverse unit. Also, the equation of motion of the converted upward and downward traverse unit in the side of the motor using the equation of motion of the motor. Furthermore, the horizontal traverse unit predetermines the mass of the first and second traverse unit and applied load including the radius and reduction ratio of the pitch circle in the pinion 1 and applied load to the rack 2. Then, a proper motor can be determined using several parameters in the upward and downward traverse unit in order to verify such predetermined specifications. In future studies later this study, a simulation that verifies the results of the previous two stages of studies using a finite element method.

사이클릭 벤얀 망의 셀 순서 무결성 보장을 위한 셀 재배열 버퍼 (The Cell Resequencing Buffer for the Cell Sequence Integrity Guarantee for the Cyclic Banyan Network)

  • 본 논문에서는, 고성능 결함 감내 셀 스위치인, 사이클릭 벤얀 망의 셀 순서의 무결성 문제를 해결하기 위한 셀 재배열 버퍼를 제시한다. 사이클릭 벤얀 스위치는, 편향 자기 경로제어를 사용하여, 입력 정합과 출력 정합 사이에 다중 경로들을 제공함으로써, 높은 신뢰성을 제공하고, 스위치의 내부 링크들의 혼잡 문제를 해결한다. 그런데, 이러한 다중 경로들은 길이가 서로 다를 수 있다 따라서 셀들이 입력 정합에 도착한 순서와 다르게 출력 정합에 도달할 수 있다. 제안된 셀 재배열 버퍼는 이러한 셀 순서의 무결성 문제를 해결하는 일종의 하드웨어 슬라이딩 윈도우 메커니즘이다. 본 장치 구성의 주요 비용은 슬라이딩 윈도우를 구성하는 하드웨어 비용이다. 따라서 필요한 슬라이딩 윈도우의 크기를 계산하기 위해서, 비균일 주소 분포를 가진 트래픽 부하 하에서 스위치를 시뮬레이션하여, 셀들이 스위치를 통과할 때 발생하는 지연 분포를 분석을 하였다. 이 분석을 통하여, 적은 양의 범용 메모리와 제어 논리를 사용하여, 셀 순서의 무결성 문제를 해결하는 셀 재배열 버퍼를 만들 수 있다는 사실을 밝혔다. 본 논문에서 제시한 셀 재배열 버퍼는 다른 다중 경로 스위칭 망들을 위해서도 사용될 수 있다.

$Al_2O_{3f}/SiC_p$ 금속복합재료의 섬유방향과 혼합비가 윤활마모특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Fiber Orientations and Hybrid Ratios on Lubricant Tribological Characteristics of $Al_2O_{3f}/SiC_p$ Reinforced MMCs)

  • 가압주조법으로 제조한 $Al_2O_3$ 섬유와 SiC 입자 혼합 보강 금속복합재료(MMCs)의 상온과 고온에서 윤활마모특성을 조사하였다. 마모시험은 거리와 온도의 변화에 따라 속도를 고정시켜 25Kgf의 하중하에서 수행하였으며 MMCs의 시험편은 가압의 수평(PR)방향과 수직(N)방향에서 채취하였다. 혼합비의 영향을 관찰한 결과 상온에서는 20%섬유만 보강한 PR방향 MMCs의 마모거동은 N방향 보다 우수한 결과를 보였으나, 혼합보강 MMCs는 반대로 나타내었다. 고온($100^{\circ}C$)에는 모든 MMCs에서 PR방향의 마모거동이 N 방향보다 우수한 결과를 보인 것은 보강재와 마찰면간 윤활필름이 강호작용에 기인한 것으로 밝혀졌다. $150^{\circ}C$에서는 혼합 MMCs의 마모거동은 온도영향으로 PR이 N 보다 우수한 결과를 보였다.

제동시 발생하는 리어 드럼브레이크 Grunt(stick-slip) Noise 개선 (Rear Drum Brake Grunt(stick-slip) Noise Improvement on Braking During Nose-dive & Return Condition)

  • Grunt(stick-slip) noise happens between rear lining and drum on braking condition while vehicle is returning to steady position after nose-dive. The study presents a new testing and analysis methods for improving brake grunt noise on vehicle. Grunt noise is called a kind of stick slip noise with below 1 kHz frequency that is caused by the surfaces alternating between sticking to each other and sliding over each other with a corresponding change in friction force. This noise is typically come from that the static friction coefficient of surfaces is much higher than the kinetic friction coefficient. For the identification of the excitation mechanism and improvement of grunt noise, it is necessary to study variable parameters of rear drum brake systems on vehicle and to implement CAE analysis with stick slip model of drum brake. The aim of this study has been to find solution parameters throughout test result on vehicle and dynamo test. As a result of this study, it is generated from stick slip between rear lining and rear drum and it can be solved to reduce contact angle of lining with asymmetric and is effected not only brake drum strength but also rear brake size and brake factor.
