  • The K-means clustering algorithm has had successful application in sufficient dimension reduction. Unfortunately, the algorithm does have reproducibility and nestness, which will be discussed in this paper. These are clear deficits for the K-means clustering algorithm; however, the hierarchical clustering algorithm has both reproducibility and nestness, but intensive comparison between K-means and hierarchical clustering algorithm has not yet been done in a sufficient dimension reduction context. In this paper, we rigorously study the two clustering algorithms for two popular sufficient dimension reduction methodology of inverse mean and clustering mean methods throughout intensive numerical studies. Simulation studies and two real data examples confirm that the use of hierarchical clustering algorithm has a potential advantage over the K-means algorithm.

  • Rapid Prototyping has made a drastic change in all industries which needs to reduce the time for the development of new products. Orientation and packing in rapid prototyping is considered as the most important factors to maximize the utilization of space in the build chamber and reduce build time. However, the decision of these parameter is mainly dependant on the operators's experience. This paper presents the methodology to find the optimal build layout considering an orientation and packing of multiple parts in SLS processing. Each part is represented as a voxel structure to deal with the inefficiency in a bounding box approach. Test results show that the adapted BL algorithm with a genetic algorithm(GA) can be applicable to a real industry.

  • Vast amounts of different service-specific requirements and vertical network slicing in a 5G network increase the complexity, cost of the network management and resource operations for carriers. To solve this problem, 3GPP is working on the standardization of NWDAF to support the automation of the 5G network by utilizing artificial intelligence technologies based on Big Data to improve the efficiency of network management and resource operation. In addition, the ETSI ZSM Industry Specification Group is developing technical standards for the automation of end-to-end network management and service delivery. This document provides an overall survey of the latest standardization issues of the NWDAF in 3GPP and ETSI ZSM for 5G network automation and intelligence.

  • Several cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) crystals were fabricated into radiation detectors using methods that included slicing, dicing, lapping, polishing, and chemical etching. A wet passivation with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) was then carried out on the Br-etched detectors. The Te-rich layer on the CZT surface was successfully compensated to the Te oxide layer, which was analyzed with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy data of both a Br-etched crystal and a passivated CZT crystals. We confirmed that passivation with NaOCl improved the transport property by analyzing the mobility-lifetime product and surface recombination velocity. The electrical and spectroscopic properties of large volume detectors were compared before and after passivation, and then the detectors were observed for a month. Both bar and quasi-hemispherical detectors show an enhancement in performance after passivation. Thus, we could identify the effect of NaOCl passivation on large volume CZT detectors.

  • Recently, most studies of 3D printing in construction have focused on the development of 3D printers and materials suitable for construction 3D printers. In comparison, there has been little research on design support tools that enable representative BIM data of building modeling tools to be applied to 3D printing. In addition, existing 3D printing slicing programs are commercialized around manufacturing, showing that they are unsuitable for construction 3D printing. Therefore, this research aims to develop a design support tool for 3D printing for buildings. The developed design support tool was validated based on arbitrary BIM data. Verification showed that wall pattern generation was modeled accurately without errors, and a calculation of the construction period showed that the formula presented in this study was valid. Furthermore, the maximum length of the mesh split was set to 100mm to minimize errors when converting to STL files.

  • Multispectral scanner data collected by LANDSAT-1 over the mid West Sea of Korea were analyzed and interpreted for delineation of coastal features and turbidity distribution patterns during different portions of the tidal cycle. Imagery from two successful LANDSAT-1 overpasses of the area in October 1972 and in October 1973 had been used to prepare schematic maps of coastal features and turbidity distributions. Color composite imagery of LANDSAT MSS 4, 5 and 7 gave the best representation of shorelines, coastlines and tidal flats. MSS 5 imagery was most effective in differentiating relative turbidity levels through density slicing techniques. Referring to the tidal power development of Garolim Bay, the basin area measurements assuming dyke construction at the bay entrance, have been carried out on the coastal reature maps comiled from LANDSAT imagery, and those results were correlated with existing data. General areal patterns of surface turbidity distribution in the study area revealed close similarity with bathymetry of the area. Synoptic circulation patterns were also well discriminated from the LANDSAT imagery using the suspended sediment as a tracer.

  • Rapid Prototyping(RP) is the technique which is used to make prototypes or functional parts directly using the 3-D solid data. Before building the prototype, several processes such as transfering 3D data from CAD system(STL) determination of build-direction, adding support structure and slicing are required. Among the above processes. determination of build-direction is the target of this study. The build direction is determined by many factors according to the objective of the user, like part accuracy, number of support structure, build time, amount of trapped volume, etc, But it is not easy to determine the build-direction because there are many factors and some factors have dependent properties with one another. So, in this study the part accuracy, the number of support structures and build time are considered as the main factor to determine the optimal build-direction. To determine the optimal build-direction for increasing part accuracy, sum of projected area which caused stairstepping effect was considered. The less the projected area is the better part accuracy is About the optimal build-direction to minimize the amount of support structure, sum of projected area of facets that require support structures was considered. About the build time, we considered the minimum height of part we intended. About the build time, we considered the minimun height of part we intended to make.

  • A new rapid prototyping process, Variable Lamination Manufacturing using a 4-axis-controlled hotwire cutter and expandable polystyrene foam sheet as a laminating material of the part (VLM-S), has been developed to reduce building time and to improve the surface finish of parts. The objective of this study is to reconstruct the surface of the original 3D CAD model in order to generate mid-slice data using the advancing front technique. The generation of 3D layers by a 4 axis-controlled hot-wire cutter requires a completely different procedure to generate toolpath data unlike the conventional RP CAD systems. The cutting path data for VLM-S are created by VLM-Slicer, which is a special CAD/CAM software with automatic generation of 3D toolpath. For the conventional sheet type system like LOM, the STL file would be sliced into 2D data only. However, because of using the thick layers and a sloping edge with the firstorder approximation between the top and bottom layers, VLM-Slicer requires surface reconstruction, mid-slice, and the toolpath data generation as well as 2D slicing. Surface reconstruction demands the connection between the two neighboring cross-sectional contours using the triangular facets. VLM-S employs thick layers with finite thickness, so that surface reconstruction is necessary to obtain a sloping angle of a side surface and the point data at a half of the sheet thickness. In the process of the toolpath data generation the surface reconstruction algorithm is expected to minimize the error between the ruled surface and the original parts..

  • 3-D image modeling is in high demand for automated visual inspection and non-destructive testing. It also can be useful in biomedical research, medical therapy, surgery planning, and simulation of critical surgery (i.e. cranio-facial). Image processing and image analysis are used to enhance and classify medical volumetric data. Analyzing medical volumetric data is very difficult In this paper, we propose a new image modeling method based on tetrahedrization to improve the visualization of three-dimensional medical volumetric data. In this method, the trivariate piecewise linear interpolation is applied through the constructed tetrahedral domain. Also, visualization methods including iso-surface, color contouring, and slicing are discussed. This method can be useful to the correct and speedy analysis of medical volumetric data, because it doesn't have the ambiguity problem of Marching Cubes algorithm and achieves the data reduction. We expect to compensate the degradation of an accuracy by using an adaptive sub-division of tetrahedrization based on least squares fitting.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a full phase encryption scheme based on phase-encoded XOR operation. The proposed scheme encrypts a gray-level image by slicing an original image and combining with XORed images which resulted from phase-encoded XOR operations between sliced images and phase-encoded binary random images. Then we produce an encrypted image by combining only XORed images and a key image by only phase-encoded binary random images. The encrypted image and key image are converted into encrypted data and key data by a phase-encoding method. The merits are that the proposed encryption scheme can basically fulfill a high-level encryption using a full phase encryption scheme which has nonlinear and invisible characteristics. The scheme also improves security by encrypting the phase information before full phase encryption. The decryption system based on the principle of interference between a reference wave and a direct pixel-to-pixel mapping image of encrypted data with key data can be simply implemented using a phase-visualization system. Simulation results indicate that our proposed encryption scheme is effective and simple for a gray-scale image and optical decryption system.
