  • This study is a descriptive research on the relationship among smartphone addiction, lack of sleep and sleeping hours of undergraduates. The subjects include 280 students enrolled in G university and data were collected from Sep. 6 to Oct. 10, 2018. On average, each score of smartphone addiction, sleeping hours and lack of sleep was $34.79{\pm}7.6$, $6.43{\pm}1.34$ and $10.14{\pm}3.14$ respectively. Smartphone addition had a significantly positive correlation with lack of sleep(r=.277, p<0.01) and a positive correlation with its sub-areas, such as disability in daily life(r=.269, p<0.01), virtual(r=.151, p<0.01), withdrawal(r=.303, p<0.01), tolerance(r=.184, p<0.01). The education and counselling for preventing undergraduates from smartphone addiction and further studies on them are required.

  • Osteoporosis and other related conditions pose a growing public health problem, especially in postmenopausal women. The main purpose of the study was to investigate the correlations among BMD, maternal factors, and life styles, and intake of nutrients in postmenopausal women. One hundred participants in Kyungge-do were divided into three groups according to their BMD measurements measured by DXA. Dietary analysis, anthropometric measurements, and questionares were administered to these women. The percentage of the osteoporosis, osteopenia(Osteopinia), and normal groups were 32%, 48%, and 20% respectively. The average age was significantly the highest in the osteoporosis group. The average age at menopause was 47.2. Osteoporosis group's age at menopause was significantly the lowest. The sleeping hours of the osteoporosis and osteopenia group were significantly longer than the normal group. The intake of vitamin B$_2$was positively correlated with the BMD of femoral neck. The BMD of these two sites was positively correlated with weight, BMI, waist, and hip size and negatively correlated with the length of the menstrual cycle, duration after menopause, the age at the last delivery, and sleeping hours. Spinal BMD positively correlated with hours of outdoor activity. Therefore, maternal factors, lifestyles, and intake of nutrients contribute to BMD.

  • Objectives : This study is for discovering the clinical Features of the sleep in ordinary symptoms based on the Sasang Constitution. The result of this study could be helpful to understand and to identify the patients as Soyangin in contrast with the other constitutions -Soeumin, Taeumin and Taeyangin. Methods : There were 1,229 patients(700 female), who answered the questionnaire about their ordinary sleeping patterns. They had been diagnosed, including their clinical Sasang Constitution, by the Sasang Constitution specialist at Bundang Oriental Hospital of Dongguk University. By applying the binary logistic regression analysis, we can measure the characteristics and the influence of ordinary sleeping patterns to the dependent variable(Sasang Constitution). Results : As a result of the binary logistic analysis on the observed questionnaire, we found the characteristics of the ordinary sleeping patterns on Soyangin in contrast with the other constitutions. Firstly, Soyangin has a tendency that he wouldn't dreams more, when he sleeps in contrast with the others. Secondly, Soyangin has a tendency that he wouldn't sleep longer than 6-7hours. Thirthly, Soyangin has a tendency that he will sleep well in contrast with the others. Conclusion : This study will be used to identify patients as Soyangin in contrast with the others-Soemin, Taeumin and Taeyangin.

  • Background: Fatigue and sleepiness are inter-related and common among road transport drivers. In this study, sleep deprivation and fatigue among chemical transportation drivers were examined. Methods: A cross-sectional study surveying 107 drivers from three hazardous types of chemical production and transportation industries (nonflammable gases, flammable gases, and flammable liquids) was conducted. Data on sleep deprivation were collected using questionnaires of the Stanford Sleeping Scale and the Groningen Sleep Quality Scale. Fatigue was assessed using an interview questionnaire and a flicker fusion instrument. Results: Chemical drivers had a mean sleeping scale (Stanford Sleeping Scale) of 1.98 (standard deviation 1.00) and had a mean score of 1.89 (standard deviation 2.06) on the Groningen Sleep Quality Scale. High-risk drivers had higher scores in both the Stanford Sleeping Scale and the Groningen Sleep Quality Scale with a mean score of 2.59 and 4.62, respectively, and those differences reached statistical significance (p < 0.05). The prevalence of fatigue, as assessed through a critical flicker fusion analyzer, subjective fatigue question, and either of the instruments, was 32.32%, 16.16%, and 43.43%, respectively. Drivers who slept <7 hours and had poor sleep quality were found to have more fatigue than those who slept enough and well. Drivers who had a more sleepiness score resulted in significantly more objective fatigue than those who had a less sleepiness score. Conclusion: Sleep quality and sleeping hour can affect a driver's fatigue. Optimization of work-rest model should be considered to improve productivity, driver retention, and road safety.

Methods: The participants were 229 elders sampled from Seoul and other five provinces. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data, and data were analyzed by applying t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression with SAS 8.12. Results: There was a negative correlation between depression, MMSE-K, self-esteem, ADL, IADL, and family support. Depression and health behavior-related characteristics showed a significant difference according to stress level and the reason of stress. Major factors that affected the elders depression were self-esteem, the amount of alcohol drinking, sleeping hours, ADL and the cognition of health status, which explained 59.4%. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, self-esteem and health behavior-related characteristics including alcohol drinking, sleeping hours and ADL were the influencing factors of depression in the community-dwelling elderly. Therefore, effective psychological and physical health promotion methods need to be developed and applied in nursing interventions to prevent depression in the community-dwelling elderly.

  • Purpose: This study is intended to identify difference postpartum depression according to delivery mode in the postpartum women. Methods: The subjects were 239 postpartum women in D and A city. Data collected from June 9, 2006 to August 6, 2007 using structured questionnaire surveys and convenience sampling. Measuring instrument was BDI (Beck Depression Inventory) translated By Lee and Song (1991). Collected data was analyzed by $x^2$-test, ANCOVA, Stepwise Multiple Regression with SPSS/PC 14.0. Results: There were significant differences in postpartum period ($x^2$=12.40, p = .002) and sleeping hours ($x^2$=9.09, p = .011) as analysed distribution of the subjects according to delivery mode. As result of analyzing the difference of postpartum depression according to delivery mode using ANCOVA, C-sec women's postpartum depression was higher than vaginal delivery women statistically (F=6.32, p = .013). As a result of Multiple Regression, income was a influencing factor of postpartum depression in vaginal delivery women and support of spouse and sleeping hours were influencing factors in C-sec women. Conclusion: There were differences in postpartum depression and their influencing factors according to delivery mode. Therefore it is necessary to develop and study a concrete nursing intervention and strategies for reducing the postpartum depression according to delivery mode.
