Objective: This study examined the relationships among mothers' marital satisfaction, parenting behavior, and preschoolers' sleep problems. Methods: Three hundred mothers of preschoolers completed questionnaires on three research variables. Data were analyzed by correlation analyses and regression analyses. Results: First, mothers' marital satisfaction was negatively related to preschoolers' sleep problems. Second, mothers' marital satisfaction was positively associated with warmth and reasoning, while mothers' marital satisfaction was negatively associated with intrusiveness, coercion, and neglect. Third, mothers' warmth and reasoning were negatively linked to preschoolers' sleep problems, but mothers' coercion was positively linked to preschoolers' sleep problems. Lastly, mothers' warmth partially mediated the relationship between mothers' marital satisfaction and preschoolers' sleep problems. Conclusion/Implications: This study confirmed that mothers' marital satisfaction and parenting behavior had an influence on preschoolers' sleep problems. These findings highlight the importance of the family context for preschoolers' healthy sleeping habits.
Objectives : In this study, the dental treatment satisfaction degree of the patients, who experienced the sleep dental treatment or non-sleep dental treatment, the revisit rate and the differences among the encouraging intention were compared and analyzed, and the primary factors through which the satisfaction degree of sleep dental treatment has influence on the revisits and the encouraging intention were analyzed, and the proposal was made on clinic management to raise qualitative medical service level on the basis of this study. Methods : The questionnaires filled out by the 202 users of a certain dental clinic located in Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk were analyzed. The frequency analysis and the crosstabulation analysis of the general characteristics of survey participants were carried out, and the satisfaction difference between the sleep dental treatment and the non-sleep dental treatment was identified with the t-test analysis. The multiple regression analysis were carried out to identify the factors through which the sleep dental treatment has influence on the through which the satisfaction degree of sleep dental treatment has influence on the satisfaction degree of the medical service and the revisited dentists. Results : In the medical service satisfaction degree in general, the sleep dental treatment had the higher meaningful value than the non-sleep dental treatment(p<0.05). In the case of the difference in satisfaction degree on each medical service factor, the satisfaction of the sleep treatment group was high in every case, but the meaningful difference showed up in the factors of waiting time, treatment procedure, revisit and the encouraging intention(p<0.01). The revisit to the sleep treatment dental clinic and the recommending dentist increased in proportion to the satisfaction degree of sleep dental treatment, and the Beta value appeared to be 0.337 at the influence of the subordinate variable(p<0.001). As for the influence on the sleep dental treatment satisfaction, the Beta value of the dental hygienist was the highest, marking the value at 0.375(p<0.01). As for the satisfaction of the patients who experienced the sleep dental treatment, the Beta value of the treatment fee was the highest, marking 0.352(p<0.001), in the multiple regression analysis of the revisit and the encouraging intention, and the 0.156 of dentist factor and the 0.152 of treatment procedure and waiting time showed lower regression coefficient(p<0.05). Conclusions : It is assumed that the satisfaction degree of sleep dental treatment, which is carried out as a new dental service has influence on the increase of revisit to the dental clinic as an important factor. But it was disclosed that the high level of treatment fee has the biggest influence on choice of revisit to the dental clinic. In the current medical charge system, the sleep dental treatment appeared to have a big influence on raising the quality of dentists, the satisfaction of patients, the revisit and encouraging intention, and also the roles of the dental hygienist was important. It is assumed that these facts are functioning as the factors that are linked to the increase of revisit and the encouraging intention.
Purpose: This study was to compare and analyze sleep patterns, satisfaction of sleep, and sleep enhancement behaviors between hospitalized and non-hospitalized elderly. Methods: Subjects were 201 older adults, who were hospitalized patients or living in U-city, Gyung-gi province. Data was collected from June 10 to August 25, 2007, and was analyzed by the SAS program. Results: 1) Non-hospitalized elderly had better sleep patterns than hospitalized elderly patients. 2) There was a strong positive correlation between sleep patterns and satisfaction of sleep in both groups. 3) In hospitalized elderly, there were significant differences in sleep patterns and satisfaction of sleep by month. 4) In non-hospitalized elderly, there was a significant difference in sleep patterns by presence or absence of spouses. There was a significant difference in satisfaction of sleep by those living with others. There were significant differences in sleep enhancement behaviors by age, religion, length of time, and sponsors. Conclusion: To relieve sleep disturbances of elderly, comprehension of sleep of the aged by nursing care givers should be obtained. Also, improving environments and elder's self-esteem with religious consideration and preparation of financial conditions are needed to promote the sleep of hospitalized and non-hospitalized elderly.
Objectives : Insufficient sleep could have harmful effects on mental health. We examined the mental health status of Korean adolescents according to daily sleep time and subjective sleep satisfaction using a nationwide representative sample of Korean adolescents. Methods : Data from the 2016 Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey was used. Sleep duration on weekdays and subjective sleep satisfaction during the past week were asked. Participants' perceived health, happiness, stress, depressive mood, and suicidality during past 12 months were also investigated. Participants were classified by mean duration of daily sleep time and the level of sleep satisfaction, and the odds of having mental health problems were compared. Results : Compared to adolescents who slept more than 6 hours per day and satisfied with their sleep, adolescents who slept less than 6 hours per day and/or dissatisfied with their sleep were less likely to perceive themselves healthy and happy. They were also more likely to have severe stress, depressive mood, and suicidality, with highest odds ratios among adolescents with both short and dissatisfying sleep. Conclusions : Given the significant associations between sleep insufficiency and mental health problems, attention to the sleep shortage among Korean adolescents is needed. Prospective studies are warranted to elucidate the causal relationships between subjective and objective sleep insufficiency and psychiatric conditions.
purpose: In addition to evaluating the quality of sleep of college students, the effect on non-face-to-face online learning satisfaction is identified and used as basic data for improving the quality of remote lectures. Methods: From June 1 to June 24, 2022, a self-entry survey was conducted on students enrolled in the dental hygiene department of D University in Daegu. To evaluate the non-face-to-face online learning satisfaction and sleep quality of the study subjects using the lBM SPSS Statistics 21 program, ANOVA analysis was conducted on the difference between individual stress levels and non-face-to-face online learning satisfaction. The correlation between sleep quality, stress, and non-face-to-face online learning satisfaction was analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The lower the quality of sleep, the higher the stress, resulting in statistically significant results (p<0.001). The higher the quality of sleep, the higher the learning satisfaction, resulting in statistically significant results (p<0.001). There was a statistically significant positive correlation between learning satisfaction and stress (r=0.591, p<0.01). Conciussions: Through the above results, in order to improve the satisfaction of non-face-to-face online learning, it is necessary to manage the individual's learning environment and health to relieve stress. Instructors also need to communicate with learners and apply teaching methods considering learners' academic abilities.
Purpose: This study was to evaluate the effects of a lettuce-based sleep promotion program on sleep, depression, and life satisfaction of the elderly in the community. Methods: Data collection was conducted from April 19 to May 28, 2021, and 49 elderly people with sleep disorders over the age of 60 living in G province. The program consisted of a total of 6 weeks, and evaluated sleep patterns, insomnia severity, depression, and life satisfaction. The collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS/WIN 23.0 program descriptive statistics and paired t-test. Results: As a result, the lettuce-based sleep promotion program was found to be effective for total sleep time (t=-2.71, p=.009), deep sleep (t=-3.98, p<.001), insomnia severity (t=10.11, p<.001), depression (t=2.14, p=.038), and life satisfaction (t=-2.15, p=.036). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that this program should be used as a non-pharmacological intervention to promote sleep of the elderly.

Purpose : The purpose of this research is to measure the correlations among sleep quality, depression and department satisfaction in the students enrolled in the nursing college located in the B city. Method : 268 students enrolled in the nursing college located in the B city participated in this research from the 1st May 2016 to the 31st May 2016. SPSS 18.0 was applied to the collected data to calculate the frequency, percentage, average and standard deviation. In addition, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test and Pearson correlation coefficient were used for the analysis. Result : The result of the average sleep quality, depression and department satisfaction in the nursing college students were measured to be $2.41{\pm}0.57$, $3.59{\pm}0.50$ and $3.56{\pm}0.57$ respectively. The sleep quality based on the general characteristics indicated a significant difference when applied to the health status(F=4.46, p=.012). The depression indicated a significant difference when applied to the living with parents(t=-2.18, p=.030) and relationship with friends(F=8.62, p=.000). The department satisfaction indicated a significant difference when applied to the grade(F=3.45, p=.017), personality(F=3.46, p=.033), and reason for applying for their department(F=2.49, p=.044). As a result of analyzing the correlations among sleep quality, depression and department satisfaction in the nursing college students, the sleep quality indicated a negative correlation with the depression(r=-.528, p=.000) and a positive correlation with the department satisfaction(r=.144, p=.018). The depression indicated a negative correlation with the department satisfaction(r=.119, p=.051). Conclusion : It is necessary to conduct a replication research by increasing the number of the research subjects. In addition, it is necessary to conduct a systematic research on the factors influential on sleep quality, depression and department satisfaction in order to develop a program capable of enhancing the sleep quality and decreasing the depression.

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate sleep patterns in nursing students as measured by an automated wireless sleep tracker and self-reported sleep scales. Methods: Data were collected from October, 2011 to May, 2012. ZQ (a symbolic number that measures the quality and quantity of sleep) was calculated from the automated wireless sleep tracker. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index-Korean version, Sleep scale A, and sleep satisfaction were used as self-report sleep scales. Female nursing college students (n=37) were recruited by convenience sampling. Before going to bed, they were asked to put on a head-band type sleeping sensor and to move it the next morning. Every student slept 2~4 nights with the sleep tracker. Data were collected for 86 (91.4%) of 94 nights' sleep. The students were also requested to fill in the PSQI-K, sleep scale A, and sleep satisfaction. Results: The only statistically significant correlation was between ZQ and sleep satisfaction (r=.869, p=.026). The biggest obstacle in using this device was putting on the head-band type sensor. Conclusion: Validity of the wireless sleep tracker was verified in part. The usefulness of this device in nursing research and practice was identified. Further evaluation need to be conducted with various populations.

Purpose : We conducted a study to propose comparing subjective sleeping states data that was collected through scientifically measuring by using smartwatch and surveys for seafarers. In addition, we conducted a study to provide sleep though analysis of the environmental factors that influence the sleep efficiency of seafarers. Methods : For scientific measurement of seafarers' sleeping states, we measured the sleep hours and sleep efficiency for at least 3 days by using the healthcare function of smartwatches which are wearable devices. As for subjective sleeping states, we collected data on sleep hours and satisfaction rates on the quality of sleep through a survey. Lastly, as for the environmental factors that affect the sleep efficiency which is measured by smartwatches such as physical environment, bedroom space, bedroom furniture, bedding, a survey by self-evaluation method was conducted. Results : There were significant differences in the scientific sleep hours measurement values for all seafarers and the average sleep hours in the subjective survey. There were significant differences in the scientific sleep efficiency measurements of all the seafarers and the sleep satisfaction of the subjective survey, and there was no correlation between the scientific sleep efficiency and the subjective sleep satisfaction of all the seafarers. Among the environmental factors affecting the sleep efficiency of the seafarers, humidity variable had the most influence, and vibration and illuminance variables were also shown to have a very significant effect. Conclusion : We propose the measuring method that can analyze the quantitative and qualitative sleep states of the seafarers by using small activity recorders. In addition, it is very important to control humidity, vibration, and illuminance among ship environmental factors, and comfort, noise and bedroom size should also be reflected.
Purpose: This study was to examine the effects of sleep promoting program on sleep and the immune response in the elderly with insomnia. Methods: The study was designed as a quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. Thirty two elders who suffered from insomnia (16 experimental and 16 control subjects) were selected among the elders who had been enrolled in two churches. The subjects in the experimental group participated in a sleep promoting program which was composed of sleep hygiene education and progressive muscle relaxation for 4 weeks. Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN. Results: The experimental group showed higher sleep score than that of the control group (t=7.86, p=.00). The experimental group showed higher sleep satisfaction score than that of the control group (t=7.61, p=.00). The sleep promoting program was not effective in enhancing immune response. Conclusion: The sleep promoting program increased the sleep score, sleep-satisfaction score and B cell in immune response of elderly people suffering from insomnia. Therefore, sleep promoting program can be applied as an effective nursing intervention to promote sleep quality and sleep satisfaction.
