Background: The current pandemic has affected people's health multidimensionally. This study aims to investigate musculoskeletal pain, sleep quality, depression levels, and their relationships in individuals belonging to different age groups during COVID-19 in Turkey. Methods: A web-based self-administered survey that consisted of demographic questions, The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and scores of musculoskeletal pain was sent to participants. Pearson correlation analysis was used for determining the statistical relationship between variables. Results: The study includes 1,778 participants. The highest percentage for mild, moderate, and severe pain was in the head (49.8%), back (15.5%), and head (11.5%), respectively. The PSQI-total had shown a weak correlation with pain levels in all body parts. The highest correlation for sleep quality and pain levels was between the PSQI-5 and lower back pain. There was a weak correlation between PSQI-2 and the BDI score, and a moderate correlation between the PSQI-1, PSQI-5, PSQI-7, PSQI-total, and BDI score. Pain in all body parts showed a weak correlation with depression level. Conclusions: This study showed that musculoskeletal pain was varied in body parts with different intensities according to age groups in Turkey during the pandemic. The most common pain was in the head, back, and lower back. Headache was found correlated with the parameters of sleep quality. Pain of the head, neck, back, lower back, and shoulder were correlated with sleep latency. Sleep quality was associated with depression and musculoskeletal pain, while musculoskeletal pain was correlated with depression.
Purpose: The purposes of this study were to (a) explore the prevalence of sleep patterns of middle-aged women; (b) identify the relationship between subjective sleep quality and its related variables; and (c) predict the possible explanations of how the related factors affect subjective sleep quality of middle-aged women. Methods: A total of 256 women aged 40-60 years were purposely sampled and given self-administered questionnaires in a cross-sectional, correlation coefficient design. The data was analysed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The results were as follows; (a) a total of 40% of the women were poor sleepers as defined by a global PSQI score >5; (b) there were significant differences in quality of sleep related to type of family, number of present illnesses, and use of medication; (c) health promoting behaviors, family functioning, depression, and climacteric symptoms were significantly related to subjective sleep quality; and (d) 34% of variance in subjective sleep quality can be explained by climacteric symptoms, depression, type of family, and spouse. Conclusions: Our findings suggested a high proportion of poor sleeping in middle-aged women. Poor sleeping appeared to have poor health promoting behaviors, lower family functioning, worse depression, and higher climacteric symptoms. Climacteric symptoms, depression, type of family, and spouse were independent risk factors for poor sleeping. Nurse professionals should screen for sleep problems in middle-aged women with a biopsychosocial and behavioral aspect.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between self-reported sleep duration and depression or suicidal ideation in Korean adolescents. Methods : The data obtained from the 11th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey (KYRBWS) were analysed. 68,043 students from 797 schools participated in this nationwide survey. Results : 53.7% of male students and 68.4% of female students had reported that a weekday sleeping duration of less than 6 hours. When the depression and suicidal ideation were analyzed by age, the odds ratio was higher in middle-school students than in high-school students. Both male and female students showed a higher risk of depression and suicidal ideation when sleeping duration was less than 5 hours and the risk was slightly higher in boys than in girls. Conclusion : Insufficient sleep duration in Korean adolescents increases depression and suicidal ideation, and these results differ according to age and gender.

The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of stress and sleep quality on depression during clinical practice of nursing students. The subjects of the study were third and fourth graders who experienced clinical practice for more than a semester among nursing students at C University in one region. A total of 107 people were analyzed. Most of the nursing students experienced more than moderate stress and depression during clinical practice, and the quality of sleep was low. During clinical practice, the stress of nursing students showed a weak correlation with the quality of sleep(r=.393, p<.001), and depression showed a strong net correlation with stress(r=.588, p<.001), the quality of sleep(r=.591, p<.001). Factors affecting depression during clinical practice were stress and the quality of sleep. Therefore, effective management methods that can relieve the stress of nursing college students during clinical practice and improve the quality of sleep and active nursing strategies that can prevent depression should be sought.
This study identifies the relationship between academic stress, sleep quality and depression of nursing college students. The data was collected from 155 nursing students by the online survey. Data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0. As a result of analyzing the differences in academic stress, sleep quality, and depression according to general characteristics. It was confirmed that academic stress had a significant difference from physical health (F=6.326, p<.001) and mental health (F=11.630, p<.001). Sleep quality was different from physical health (F=8.834, p<.001), and depression was found to be different from physical health (F=9.619, p<.001) and mental health (F=28.625, p<.001). The results of analyzing the correlation between academic stress, sleep quality, and depression were found to have a positive correlation between academic stress and depression (r=.242, p<.01). Therefore, identifying the relationship between academic stress, sleep quality and depression among nursing college students is necessary to devise a plan to maintain and improve their physical and mental health
