서울 및 지방에 거주하는 초등학교 고학년 남녀 아동들의 식습관, 식행동 및 식품섭취빈도 (Food Habits, Eating Behaviors and Food Frequency by Gender and among Seoul and Other Regions in Upper-Grade Elementary School Children)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the differences in food habits, eating behaviors and food frequency by gender and regions in upper grade elementary school children in Korea. Subjects of this study were 1,211 children, 645 boys and 566 girls, attending 6 elementary schools (4th, 5th and 6th graders). 389 children lived in Seoul and 822 children lived in other regions. Mean height, weight and BMI of subjects were 142.4 cm, 38.7 kg and $18.8\;kg/m^2$ respectively. 70.5% of the subjects had breakfast every day and 12.4% of the subjects skipped breakfast. There were significant differences between boys and girls in causes of skipping breakfast, overeating, meal volume, and duration of meals. Girls showed more desirable eating behavior than boys (p < 0.001). Scores for specific eating behaviors such as unbalanced diet and intake of meats and vegetables were better in girls (p < 0.001), and boys ate meals faster than girls (p > 0.001). There were significant differences between Seoul and other regions in eating behavior. Eating behavior scores of children in other regions were higher than in Seoul (p < 0.01). Children in Seoul had a higher frequency of watching television with meals. Frequency of fruits (p < 0.001), milk products (p < 0.01), and meats (p < 0.05) of children in Seoul were higher than other regions. Otherwise the frequency of simple sugar products of children in other regions was higher than Seoul (p < 0.001). Frequency of green vegetables was higher for girls than boys, and frequency of fast foods was higher for boys than girls. These results showed that in nutrition education programs designed to improve the nutritional health of elementary school children, we need to focus more on differences in the children's food habits and eating behaviors by gender and regions. In consideration of these differences, such educational programs need to have a different emphasis for each gender and regions to serve its specific needs.

세종특별자치시 중학생의 학교급식 만족도와 식습관 조사 (Study on the Satisfaction for School Food Service and Dietary Habits of Middle School Students in Sejong Special Self-Governing City)

  • The aim of this study is to provide the fundamental information on satisfaction for school food service and dietary habits of middle school students in Sejong Special Self-Governing City. Generally, the subjects had a high satisfaction level for school food service. The boys had comparatively more satisfactory days for school food service than the girls. The most dissatisfactory factors of school food service were the taste and variety of menu for the girls, and the time and place for lunch and the service of employee for the boys. The intersexual differences existed with a significant difference in the irregular intake of meals, the reasons to skip meals, and the eating speed. For the boys, the main reason to skip meals was due to lack of appetite, and for the girls, it was the weight-control. The boys finished each meal within 5~10 min and ate more than the amount the girls eat in general. The main components of breakfast for the subjects were a cooked rice, soup, and side dish in 65.9%, and the frequency of skipping breakfast was high with 32.8%, which was once per week. The favorite snacks for the middle school students were cookies and beverages in 29.4%, instant foods in 24.3%, and hamburger and pizza in 21.4%. The intake frequency of snacks was once or twice per week in 46.5% of the subjects. In addition, the subjects had a very high intake frequency of fastfoods with once or twice per week in 72.7%, and the most favorite fastfood was ramen in 57.7%. The subjects in 45.3% took dairy food every day. In conclusion, the middle school students need nutrition education to improve their eating habit and to increase the frequency of breakfast.

코로나19로 인한 가정경제 변화와 청소년 식습관의 연관성 - 제17차 청소년건강행태조사 이용 - (The Association between Household Economic Changes by COVID-19 and Dietary Habits in Adolescents - Based on the 17th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between household economic changes by COVID-19 and dietary habits in Korean adolescents. The study analyzed data from the 17th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey in 2021. A total of 54,848 middle and high school students, 28,401 males and 26,447 females, participated in this study. COVID-19 lead to deterioration of household economy in the lower level of household economic status (p<0.001). The deterioration of household economic status by COVID-19 was associated with dietary habits such as lower breakfast intake, and higher fast food, soda drinks, and sweet drinks consumption (p<0.001). Logistic regression analysis showed that deterioration of household economic status was significantly decreased in frequency of breakfast intake (OR: 0.73, 95% CI: 0.67~0.80). The deterioration of household economic status by COVID-19 was also significantly associated with increased frequency of fast food (OR: 1.28, 95% CI: 1.16~1.41), soda drinks (OR: 1.42, 95% CI: 1.30~1.56) and sweet drinks (OR: 1.35, 95% CI: 1.24~1.46) consumption (p<0.001). In conclusion, it was confirmed that the change in household economy caused by COVID-19 was associated with dietary habits in adolescents. As the household economy deteriorated, there was an increase in undesirable dietary habits including skipping breakfast and fast food consumption.

서울지역 대학 기숙사생의 식습관 및 영양서비스 요구도 (Dietary Habits and Demands for Nutrition Service of University Dormitory Residents in Seoul Area)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the dietary habits and demand for nutrition service of university dormitory residents. Out of 450 questionnaires distributed to the undergraduate and graduate students residing in a university dormitory, 335(74.4%) returned and 265(58.8%) were analyzed. The analyzed sample included 140 males(52.8%) and 125 females(47.2%). The number of undergraduate and graduate students were 183(69.1%) and 82(30.9%), respectively. Male and undergraduate students tend to more frequently use dormitory foodservice than the respective counterpart. About 21% of respondents skipped breakfast everyday and almost 2/3 of respondents skipped breakfast more often than $3{\sim}4$ times a week. The most often chosen reason for skipping meals was 'lack of time' for lunch and dinner as well as breakfast. Graduate students tend to drink coffee more often than undergraduate students. Male students were more likely to drink carbonated drinks and alcohol compared with female students. Over half(59%) of respondents were taking multivitamins and mineral supplements. About 80% of respondents perceived their health average or above. New residents having moved in to the dormitory less than a semester before tend to perceive their heath status worse than the residents having lived longer in the dormitory. The demand for nutrition service was high as shown by the high percentage of respondents willingness to receive the service: 76% for nutrition assessment service and 63% for nutrition counseling service. Such demand did not differ between males and female respondents. However, graduate students were more willing to participate in nutrition counseling service than undergraduates.

체중조절 내담자의 영양섭취 및 식행동 실태 분석 (Analysis on Nutrient Intakes and Eating Behaviors of Female Students Visiting Nutrition Counselling Office)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze health-related habits, weight control experience and body composition of 344 female students visiting nutrition counselling office. Dietary habits of the subjects were assessed by means of interview with questionnaire and nutrient intakes were evaluated by the simple dietary assessment method. Weight and height were measured to get body mass index(BMI) and waist-hip ratio and their body composition were measured by Inbody 3.0. The obtained results were as follows: 1) Among students, 14.5% were exercising on a regularly basis, of which the exercises were walking and gymnastic exercise(22.1%), jogging(14.1%), and rope-skipping(4.7%), 48.4% of students were little drinking and 30.5% were once a week and smokers were 4.1%. 2) 28.3% of students were little having breakfast and 15.1% were once or twice a week. Two third of total students were not having breakfast regularly. Also only 59.6% of students were having dinner everyday, which means many of them were even skipping dinner. The reasons why they were not having breakfast were because they don't have enough time to eat(66.0%) and for a diet(2.8%) and the reasons for skipping dinner were because they were not hungry(23.0%), for the weight loss(18.2%). It was shown that they would skip dinner rather than breakfast for a weight control. 51.6% of students were taking snack 1~2 times a day and 5.3% were having little snack. 55.4% of students were dining out once a day and 15.4% more am 2 times a day. 3) 46.7% of students were already experiencing weight control before visiting the counselling office. 78.5% of students tried on one kind of weight control method, 11.4% on two kinds, and 10.1 % on more than three kinds. The method they tried for a weight control most was the one food diet using egg, fruits and beans, which is the most popular among them, and the next were an aerobic exercise(23.6%). a diet tried by a famous entertainer (15.5%), and the fasting(14.5%). 4) The average BMI was 21.2 and the body fat rate was 28.1%. As a result of grouping BMI, 12.8% were underweight 67.6% normal weight 11.6% overweight and 8% obesity. Less than standard for the body fat rate were 0.6%, 50.6% standard, 48.5% more than standard. 49.2% of students as normal weight on a BMI were assessed the so-called "skinny obesity. 50% of consulted students situated fat intra-abdominally at the umbilical level(WHR>0.8). 5) The energy intake was 76.6$\pm$17.8% of RDA and constituent ratio of carbohydrate, fat and protein were 64.2$\pm$5.2%, 21.6$\pm$3.7% and 14.3$\pm$2.3%, respectively, which is little over of 20% of recommended ratio of fat. Protein and niacin intake were more than 90% of RDA and riboflavin and vit. C were taken more than 100% of RDA. But Fe intake was 69.4$\pm$19.3%, Ca 76.6$\pm$23.6%, which were the least constituents. There was not remarkable significance between energy intake and nutrient density based on the groups of underweight, normal weight, overweight and obesity of BMI. 6) It was shown that body fat rate had remarkably significant correlation(p<0.000) with BMI(r=0.760) and WHR(r=0.817) respectively, but body fat rate was more correlated with WHR than with BMI. There was not much significant difference between body fat rate and WHR whether they exercised or not. However. BMI was significantly higher in the exercise group because one who showed higher BMI started to exercise since they looked fat in appearance and perceived as they were fat. fat.

춘천지역 일부 여대생의 아침식사 빈도에 따른 BMI, 식행동 및 영양소 섭취상태 (Study on BMI, Dietary Behavior, and Nutrient Intake Status According to Frequency of Breakfast Intake in Female College Students in Chuncheon Area)

  • 본 연구는 춘천지역 일부 여대생 253명을 대상으로 아침식사 빈도에 따른 신체질량지수(body mass index, BMI), 식행동 및 영양소 섭취상태를 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 아침식사를 주 5회 이상 섭취군과 4회 이하 섭취군으로 분류하였으며, 그 결과 아침 5회 이상 섭취군이 54.9%, 4회 이하 섭취군이 45.1%로 나타났다. 거주형태는 학교 주변에서 자취, 하숙하는 학생들이 가장 많았으며, 아침 5회 이상 섭취군은 부모님과 함께 생활하는 경우가 높게 나타났고, 4회 이하 섭취군은 자취, 하숙하는 경우가 높게 나타나면서 부모님과 함께 생활할수록 아침식사 빈도가 높고 혼자 생활할수록 아침식사를 하지 않거나 아침식사 빈도가 낮은 것을 알 수 있었다. 자신의 체형만족도는 아침 5회 이상 섭취군이 4회 이하 섭취군에 비해 자신의 체형만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 아침 5회 이상 섭취군의 신장, 체중 및 BMI는 각각 $161.0{\pm}0.1cm$, $52.6{\pm}7.6kg$, $19.8{\pm}1.9kg/m^2$ 였으며, 4회 이하 섭취군은 각각 $160.7{\pm}0.1cm$, $57.1{\pm}11.8kg$, $21.5{\pm}3.4kg/m^2$로 나타났는데, 체중과 BMI에서 유의적인 차이를 나타내었다. BMI 분포를 보면 아침 5회 이상 섭취군은 저체중이 15.8%, 정상체중이 59.0%, 과체중이 15.8%, 비만이 9.4%였으며, 4회 이하 섭취군은 저체중이 13.2%, 정상체중이 43.8%, 과체중이 28.1%, 비만이 14.9%로 나타났다. 식행동 점수는 아침 5회 이상 섭취군이 4회 이하 섭취군보다 높게 나타나 규칙적인 식사패턴을 보였으며 '우유나 유제품을 매일 1잔 이상 마신다', '과일이나 과일주스를 매일 먹는다', '하루 세끼 규칙적으로 식사한다' 문항에서 유의적인 차이를 보였다. 영양소 섭취상태를 알아본 결과 1일 평균 에너지는 아침 5회 이상 섭취군이 1,545.8 kcal, 4회 이하 섭취군이 1,378.2 kcal로 나타났고, 탄수화물과 단백질은 아침 5회 이상 섭취군이 각각 218.8 g과 56.1 g, 4회 이하 섭취군이 188.1 g과 49.7 g으로 5회 이상 섭취군이 유의적으로 높게 섭취하였다. 또한, 비타민 A, 비타민 $B_1$, 비타민 $B_2$, 나이아신, 비타민 $B_6$, 인, 아연과 콜레스테롤 섭취량도 아침 5회 이상 섭취군이 4회 이하 섭취군에 비해 유의적으로 높게 나타났다. 에너지 필요추정량(EER)과 영양소의 권장섭취량(RNI)을 살펴보면 EER은 아침 4회 이하 섭취군(65.6%)이 5회 이상 섭취군(73.7%)에 비해 낮은 섭취율을 보였고, 비타민과 무기질에서는 조사대상자들이 비타민 $B_1$, 비타민 E, 인과 나트륨을 제외한 모든 영양소를 부족하게 섭취하고 있었다. 이 중 권장섭취량의 80% 이하로 섭취하는 영양소를 알아본 결과 아침 5회 이상 섭취군은 비타민 C, 엽산, 칼슘과 철이었으며, 4회 이하 섭취군은 비타민 A, 비타민 $B_2$, 나이아신, 비타민 $B_6$, 비타민 C, 엽산, 칼슘과 철로 나타나 아침식사의 빈도가 낮을수록 전체 식사에서의 영양소 섭취가 부족함을 알 수 있었다. 조사대상자의 에너지 섭취량에 대한 탄수화물, 단백질, 지방의 섭취비율은 56.4:14.6:27.7로 나타났으며, 아침식사 빈도에 따른 유의적인 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 또한, 아침식사 빈도와 상관관계가 있는 변인을 알아보기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 실시한 결과 거주상태가 가장 중요한 변인으로 작용하였다. 이상의 결과로부터 여대생들의 높은 아침결식률이 전체 식사의 영양소 섭취에도 영향을 미쳐 여대생들에게 아침식사의 중요성을 강조함과 동시에 아침식사 섭취를 통한 에너지 및 대부분의 영양소 섭취량을 증가시켜 다양하고 적절한 식사를 가능하게 해야 할 것이다. 한편 특정 영양소, 칼슘, 비타민 C와 철분 결핍의 우려가 심각해 이들 영양소들은 기존 식사에서의 섭취량을 양적으로 증가시키는 것과 동시에 질적으로 우수한 우유, 멸치, 녹색 채소류(브로콜리, 케일, 청경채 등), 과일, 육류 및 생선 등의 섭취를 유도하여 여대생들의 영양 상태 개선을 위한 꾸준한 노력도 필요할 것으로 보인다. 또한, 아침결식 문제를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 비자택 거주자들의 식생활 교육 강화 및 거주상태가 고려된 연구의 필요성을 제기하는 바이다.

고등학생의 식습관과 학업성취도, 주관적 건강상태 및 체격과의 관계 연구 (Relations Between the Dietary Habit and Academic Achievement, Subjective Health Judgement, Physical Status of High School Students)

  • 식습관과 주관적인 건강상태, 학업성취도(수학능력평가성적), 체격과의 관계를 알아보기 위해서 대학교 1년생을 대상으로 인터넷을 통하여 조사하였으며 조사 대상자수는 남자 1,030명, 여자 2,582명으로 전체 3,612명이었다. 1. 조사대상자의 가구 연평균 소득은 2000만원 미만 39.2%, 2000~3000만원 36.5%, 3000~4000만원 15.9%, 4000만원 이상 8.4%이었다. 평균신장은 남학생 173.3 cm,여학생 161.6 cm이었고 평균체중은 남학생과 여학생이 각각 65.6 kg, 53.9 kg이었다. 2. 아침을 매일 먹었다고 응답한 사람이 33.2%이었으며 반면 1주일에 한두 번 이하로 먹었다고 응답한 사람은 37.9%이었다. 건강에 가장 중요하다고 생각하는 식사는 전체응답자의 80.6%가 아침식사라고 응답하였다. 반면 가장 맛있게 한 식사는 52.7%가 저녁이라고 응답하였다. 아침은 누구와 먹었나에 대한 질문에서 ‘혼자서 먹었다’가 전체 57.5%로 가장 높았다. 3. 아침을 먹은 장소는 87.5%가 ‘집에서’라고 응답하였으며 고등학교 아침급식의 필요성에 대하여 전체 60.8%가 필요하다고 응답하였다. 아침식사를 하지 못한 이유는 ‘시간이 없어서’가 전체 조사자의 62.8%로 가장 높은 비율을 차지하였다. 아침식사 형태에 있어서는 한식으로 매일 한 경우가 38.4%로 가장 높은 비율을 나타내었다. 4. 아침식사를 규칙적으로 하는 사람은 그렇지 않은 사람에 비하여 훨씬 건강한 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 5. 아침식사를 매일 먹은 사람이 수학능력 평가점수가 가장 높았던 반면 아침을 주 2일 이하로 거의 아침을 먹지 않았다고 응답한 사람이 수학능력 평가점수가 가장 좋지 않았다. 한편 아침식사는 비만정도(BMI)에 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 6. 균형 잡힌 식사를 규칙적으로 하고 채소류와 과일, 콩류와 유제품 등을 매일 먹는 소위 식습관이 좋은 사람이 수학능력평가점수가 좋은 것으로 나타났다. 위의 결과로 볼 때 건강에 가장 중요한 식사라고 인식하고 있으나 결식률이 높은 아침 식사를 청소년들이 맛있게 할 수 있는 방안을 마련해야 할 것이다. 그리고 아침식사의 결식이 학생의 학업성취도와 무관하지 않음이 밝혀졌으므로 청소년의 아침결식에 대한 세부적인 연구조사와 이를 개선할 수 있는 학교 아침급식 프로그램 도입 등이 필요하다고 사료된다. 또한 결식은 건강에 대한 자신감에 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났으므로 규칙적인 식사와 1일 3식에 대한 중요성을 인식시킬 수 있는 영양교육을 실시하여야 할 것이다. 균형 잡힌 식사를 규칙적으로 하고 채소류와 과일, 콩류와 유제품 등을 매일 먹는 소위 식습관이 좋은 사람이 수학능력평가점수가 좋은 것으로 나타난 반면 비만정도(BMI)에는 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났으므로 청소년 각자의 식습관 및 식품 섭취에 대한 관심을 고취시킬 필요가 있다고 생각된다.

청소년의 우유 섭취,영양 섭취 및 신체 발달간의 관계에 대한 고찰 (A Review on the Relationship of Milk Consumption, Dietary Nutrient Intakes and Physical Growth of Adolescents)

  • Adolescents grow rapidly and have lots of schoolwork for entrance examination, so good nutrition is very important to them. However, adolescents tend to have a poor dietary behavior including frequent consumption of empty calorie foods and skipping breakfast. In particular, frequency of drinking milk has been low among Korean adolescents, thus their dietary calcium intakes has been low. Undesirable dietary behavior of adolescents is a risk factor for poor nutrition, obesity and chronic disease of them. Milk is a good source for calcium, high quality of protein, vitamin and bioactive compounds including anti-obesity component, thus it has been reported that milk helps improvement of dietary nutrient adequacy and physical growth, increment of bone mineral density, and prevention of obesity and chronic diseases. Therefore, milk consumption of adolescents should be encouraged in order to help their nutritional status, physical growth and health.

비만아동의 영양소 섭취실태, 비만관련 요인과 영양교육 효과 (Nutrient Intakes and Obesity-Related Factors of Obese Children and the Effect of Nutrition Education Program)

  • This study was conducted to investigate nutrient intakes and obesity-related factors of obese children by interviewing the subjects aged from 11 to 13 in Daegu. The collected data were consisted of items on general characteristics, dietary behavior, nutrition knowledge and daily nutrient intakes of subjects. The subjects were classified into obese and non-obese control groups according to their relative weights. Frequency of skipping breakfast and eating rate of obese group were significantly higher than those of control group. There was no significant difference between obese and control group in the nutrition knowledge score. Except vitamins $B_1$, $B_2$ and iron, the average daily intakes of other nutrients in obese were greater than control group. The most contributing factor to BMI turned out to be cholesterol intake. After the nutrition education targeting obese children, their nutrition knowledge scores improved, but the dietary behavior score was not significantly changed. Therefore, childhood obesity may be prevented by continuous education programs including the behavior modification of obese children. (Korean J Community Nutrition 8(4) : 477-484, 2003)

중학교 3학년 학생의 식행동 특성에 관한 연구-남녀 학생의 비교- (A Study on Eating Behavior of Middle School Third Grade Students)

  • The purpose of the study was to find out the eating behavioral difference and various connected factors between boys and girls of middle school students. One hundred ninety boys and two hundred six girls. who were sampled from the third graders of middle school located in Seoul and Chungbuk were asked to lilt out the questionaires. The results are summerized as follows : The boys had a better morning appetite and lower rate of skipping breakfast than the girls had. The girls carried more home-prepared boxed lunches and kept the lunch time better than the boys did. On weekend lunch time became more irregular and students had snacks more often than on weekdays. The number of lunchbox sidedishes was significantly influenced by the family composition, number of siblings, schooling of parents, occupation of tile father, and mother's empolymemt status. The frequency of snacks was significantly influenced by schooling of parents.
